"The reviews said excellent, friendly, so we went. Possibly the only fact that bears scrutiny was that it is almost exactly opposite the theatre entrance. As we walked through the entrance we were met by a chap who without speaking pointed to a notice that...read ‘cash only’, but then advised us that a machine was situated two shops away, this rather strange request wasn’t issued to everyone who arrived. However the Meze for two was ordered and along with two Greek beers arrived reasonably quickly, although it has to be said the pita bread whilst warm was rock hard, usually a sign of re warming. The standard three dips of hummus, tsatsiki and tarmasalata where complimented by potato salad and meatballs, all Ok, but nothing special. After a pause the fish dishes appeared, I am not a big lover of sea food and ate only the shrimp, my wife made an impression on the food, but in truth had we skipped this course we would not have minded. The meat course took longer to arrive, about minutes, as the restaurant had begun to fill with families and the staff were rushed, but we were frequently assured you food is ‘on the way’. The meat was Ok but did not in any way match the quality or quantity of the Turkish meze at Zada’s in Stamford. Overall, we ate and enjoyed the food and at for two it wasn’t so bad, but we would not make Salamis our first choice again."
