"One word WOW! Me and my partner visited here to take my mother out for her birthday. We made a reservation (just to note, you do have to put down a deposit for the booking and the team were very responsive on their chat/messaging system. We visited on a Sunday and there was only one other (rather large party at the restaurant however, it didn't seem crowded or loud. We were seated next to a lovely radiator which was nice to have when it was so cold outside! We were then asked for our drink orders (we'd HIGHLY recommend any of their cocktails and their Sangria! and then asked for our food. The menu isn't so big that you get lost in the choices, but there is definitely enough for everyone. There is also a suggestion of a couple of portions per person but if you're hungry or a big eater, I'd go for more! The only negative thing I can say about our experience is that their card machine was not working and we did not know until we arrived at the restaurant however, there is an ATM about a 5 minute walk away. This does not distract from the food or the service we received and these sorts of things happen!"

"The Cross Foxes has the most superb setting being right on the River Dee. It has a wonderful outside terraced sitting/dining area directly overlooking this majestic river, so it's location is prime. It was previously a Brunning Price restaurant and is now under new management/ownership. I hope the new owners make a success of it. We live relatively nearby and know it quite well. We recently called in for an early evening fish and chip supper which was tasty and the new owners appear to be working very hard to make a success of it. It was quite busy when we were there and was filling up as we left. We often like a soup and sandwich for lunch and are pleased to see they offer a choice of them on their menu."

"cleopatras is our favorite shop/bistro with a country mile. from the first visit we were amazed by the warm friendliness of the staff (especially james, which is one of the nicest people you could ever hope to come.) eating is fabulous and the menu is diverse and interesting. the layout and the device are simply perfect for the environment. we have often been there and often go out of our way to enjoy the experience. the atmosphere always raises us when we have managed our own little business for a week. we will continue to visit as often as possible (we live in warrington.) please do not always change cleopatras and if possible try to find a way to duplicate and administer james. we could use him for sure! simon and mary."

"I 'm sorry to say, the service was very poor. As far as I could see there were only 2 other tables occupied, but it took 1.5 hours for our food to arrive. After passing a little comment to the waiter, I asked how long desert would take and was told don 't worry, I 'll make sure it comes straight out to you . My friends desert arrived fairly promptly, but nothing for me. The waiter told the chef and she went to get it. 20 minutes later it arrived. Bread and butter pudding, but it was smothered with the type of red sauce you get on an icecream, Disgusting. I am sorry, but I will not be frequenting The Royal Oak again."

"Two couples with a pre-booked table, first visit since pre Covid-19. We had starters, mains, deserts, drinks coffees. Food was average pub grub, unfortunately all hot food was served on cold plates. Menu is extensive, prices are reasonable. We were asked to pay for our starters, main course arrival drinks before our food was served. We were also asked to pay for the next round of drinks during our meal and before ordering desert. Nowhere on the menu did we see that payment was due at time of ordering and it is not what we expected to punctuate our evening out. Appreciated this requirement was not down to the table staff, who were very attentive and proficient, however this payment policy ruined the ambiance of our evening out and as a result although this is the closest functioning pub to our homes none of us will return."

"We visited the Hand for my birthday lunch. This is our first time and it was well worth the drive through stunning countryside. The food was the best we've had in a while. Beautifully cooked and presented. We had the roast option for our main course. Everything was hot and tasty. We will be back again soon and would highly recommend"

"We stay in caravan in Plassey and when we are there this is our go to pub. Food is good pub grub, the staff are lovely and a good laugh. It’s also great for the kids as there is a climbing frame slide, large back garden and nets for a game of footy for them. Kids menu is great and super cheap (i think anyway) I’ve honestly never had a bad meal. And i think its great for what you pay id say very affordable."

"My friends and I 12 of us went here for a meal, we were seated upstairs and had the whole room to our self’s. It has a bar so no need to go downstairs. The room is decorated to a high standard alongside 100% cleanliness. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. The food which ranged from chicken skewers to salmon and cod and starters was out of this world !! So fresh tasty and so much of it . The portions were very generous!!! Both the drinks and food are reasonably priced. The owners are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble .in my opinion no other restaurant could offer so much.in terms of friendliness, cost, and most of all amazing food. Myself and my friends would definitely use this place again for either a quiet meal in the day or drinks and food at night .thank you for making us feel welcome ."

"Visited for a Sunday lunch. Drinks were great , but the wait time was rather long and when the roast came out some of it we couldn’t even cut. The roasties seemed like they had been sitting out for a long time as were like rocks and the gravy was that watery you could hardly even see it on your plate. I think these 2 elements are the most important part of a roast besides the meat, so for them to be served the way they were was really disappointing. The desserts were lovely and very tasty, just a disappointing roast unfortunately."

"We stayed over in Bangor-on-dee after attending the Race meeting there. We actually stayed in between the only 2 pubs in the village and chose this one to dine in although both were well recommended. Having seen the size of the meals we opted to...share the Pate starter which was very tasty and I opted for the small beer-battered fish. It was still a good size with great chips and mushy peas as well. My wife had the gammon and thoroughly enjoyed it. The landlord and other staff were friendly and efficient and there was a nice choice of beers. The Buck is a bit cheaper than it's rival and proved to be great value as far as we were concerned."

"Normally an alright place to go. Not tonight. Popped in for a quick pint. Toilets were filthy, stank of piss. No wonder with the floors being caked in it and my shoes sticking as I walked. Everyone in the bar was foul, even the staff. The atmosphere was horrible. After waiting ten minutes, then moving round the bar, we were served. It was last orders, but we were only having one. Pint looked awful. Sat down then 2 minutes later, the barman comes out saying they’re closing in about 1 minute and we need to leave. When challenged on why he still served us a pint even though they were closing immediately, he just walked away. Continued to rush my terrible pint, then the presumable owner came out saying they’re closed now and we need to leave. Then turned the lights off and locked the doors. This was all at 9.15, when the place says it’s open till 10. Terrible customer service. Rude staff. Awful pint. Wouldn’t waste your time when there’s better places in Wrexham that actually appreciate custom. You’d think after the bad reputation this establishment has had recently they’d appreciate people visiting. It’s a wonder the place is still open."

"Lovely environment and a nice buzz about the place. The staff were super friendly and very efficient! We both ordered the full breakfast and found it to be tasty, well cooked and to be honest, we couldn’t finish it all! The portions were very generous. Nice to see the effort made here for example in the teapots and lovely cups and saucers and although we were too full to try it the cakes looked delicious. Easily accessible and very dog friendly Nev enjoyed his sausage! Highly recommended and will definitely be back :"

"Whilst the venue and decor are a little odd, you can not fault the food and the service. Our party had a wide variety of dishes and all were superb. We had a young baby in our party and the staff were absolutely lovely with her and her parents. They topped of an excellent birthday meal with a surprise indoor firework and complimentary shot....very dramatic!! Car parking to the rear. Take care leaving the roundabout for the car park, on coming traffic never seems to expect cars to be entering the car park."

"I dine at Levant fairly frequently and pop in quite often for a drink. I have never been anything less than 100 percent satisfied. I have tried most things on the menu, from bar snacks to lavish evening meals and they have all been consistently fantastic. The pricing is reasonable, the staff are, without exception; courteous, efficient and professional. The restaurant is always spotlessly clean and the ambiance is warm, relaxed and friendly. The manager/owner is always visible which I believe is key to their success. The staff have a way of making you feel that you are important and valued as a customer however busy they are, nothing is too much trouble. I really could not recommend this venue highly enough, weather popping in for a bite to eat or treating guests from out of town, this is my number one place! I have been there in small groups, on my own and in large parties in their function room, the service has been outstanding on every occasion. In recent times they have set a very high standard for Covid security and it is obvious from the moment you enter the restaurant that they take current measures very seriously. Well done Levant, keep on doing what your doing!"

"This is the best restaurant in Wrexham. If you're looking for something other than pub food, this is the place to go. I had a delicious meal consisting of seafood and vegetables. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The service was excellent. I dined in for dinner and spent around £30–40 per person. I highly recommend trying the tapas, garlic prawns, and vegan dishes. The atmosphere was also top-notch."

"Haven’t visited this place for a long while and unfortunately after our experience I won’t be rushing to return. Such a shame as previously had really good times here. We arrived and the staff on the bar were to be fair very helpful and saw to us straight away, we informed them we had a table booked and she took us straight through, telling us we could place an order for drinks at the table and that it would be table service. They didn’t actually come to take our drinks order for over 20 minutes. Finally took our drink order and then had another 25 minute wait until the drinks arrived! In this time we had placed our food order and it was only that I asked the waiter taking the food order where our drinks were that he went to check. Otherwise, who knows how long we would have waited! Water was requested and arrived room temperature with red hot glasses straight out of the dishwasher, the result being Luke warm table water. No ice was offered. The food was VERY slow to arrive, we only ordered one course but we waited 50 minutes from ordering to the food actually arriving. And when it did it was Luke warm, and tasteless. I had the lentil and mushroom tagliatelle which was a tiny portion at a whopping £16, Luke warm and with absolutely no flavour at all. The other main ordered was nut roast, which looked nice however the feedback was that the nut roast was like packet sage and onion stuffing mix with some nuts sprinkled on top. Unfortunately we won’t be returning. Food was overpriced, Luke warm, small portions, long waiting times and seriously bland. Someone needs to buy them some herbs and spices and get some depth of flavour in those dishes!"
