"I have to say I was very surprised how bad my experience was with the Spice Merchant was. It started very badly with the food taking two hours to be delivered. This was after several calls over that period where we were told that the food was on its way and should be with us in five minutes. That was a bad start but the food was just as bad. The only saving grace were the starters of chicken lamb lollipops which were tasty. The main courses were all very disappointing, lacking spice and flavour. They were also swimming in oil. The breads were also flavourless. I don’t like to give reviews like this but in this case it is well deserved especially as it was extremely expensive. £150 for five people. For that kind of money it should have been allot better. Worst curry I have had I recent memory! Service: Delivery Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £30–40"

"A drink and sandwich lunch. A warm welcome and pleasant service for a drink and sandwich lunch. Two small outside seating areas, a dining room and bar area. Dog friendly. Parking: Had a real problem leaving with selfish parking not allowing cars to depart. More cars coming in caused issues out to the road. Should have been sorted by pub but left to customers Price per person: £10–20"

"This restaurant is definitely dining out on long gone excellence. The service was surly and abrupt (locals treated differently) and was changed tables mid meal to accommodate a party of 2. The food is both highly overrated and overpriced. The King Prawn Tandoori Masala was in essence vile, heavy with coconut and cloying sweetness — nothing like a true tikka, and there was no char or smokiness on the prawns. Deeply disappointing food for the price and arrogant service. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £60–70 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2"
"Shocking service. We required a couple of glasses of wine and the waiter mentioned that you have a nice Chardonnay. Assuming that 99% of people go for the house wine we said go for it. There was no mention though that the wine was around £12.00 a glass, roughly £35.00 in total. Absolutely shocking that this wasn’t mentioned prior to offering. Disgraceful service. Seriously who pays £12.00 a glass it’s hardly the Ritz?"
