"I visited this restaurant with my ex-wife in hopes of rekindling our relationship, and it worked like a charm! The food was absolutely incredible, a Sunday Roast fit for the gods themselves. "Given one menu between three people and expected to know our order within five minutes of arriving; well, that’s the attitude of the young lady serving us as she blatantly rolled her eyes at us because we weren’t ready to order! The second time the young lady came to take our order, the last of our party was trying to find the pizza on the menu (as well as clearly trying to keep an eye on her small child! as it is on the downloadable version from the website and clearly advertised on the café’s Facebook cover photo!! To help my friend out, I asked the lady serving us if the café still served pizza, to which she replied no and did we need extra time, then once again rolled her eyes when we answered yes to needing a bit more time. I’d understand if the café was busy, but there were only three other small groups of customers in the café. It was just utter rudeness! The young lady is obviously very inexperienced when it comes to customer service and would benefit from further training/shadowing of more experienced staff. In addition to this, if pizza is no longer on offer, the café needs to seriously update what they are advertising online! I ordered the cauliflower aloo gobi dhansak jacket potato. The dhansak was so stodgy and tasteless, I didn’t enjoy it. At no point did any of the staff check to see if our food was to our satisfaction. Apart from the young lady taking our order having rolled her eyes at us twice, there was no contact from the staff until we got up to pay; the staff couldn’t move quick enough to clear our plates!! A disappointing experience, particularly as this café USED to have outstanding service and fantastic food! Wouldn’t recommend with its current standards."

"Terrible Experience! From uncomfortable chairs and cramped tables, faulty toilet (no proper hand washing in gents- tap taped up in plastic bag) to really poor food- tough chewy pizza and chopped iceberg lettuce with unfresh tomato (described as fresh tomato/cucumber etc on a bed of lettuce) we thought it couldn't get worse. Apparently because we raised the food issues with his son (who was immediately defensive and irritatingly condescending) the owner ran after us outside and shouted at me across my wife in a face to face angry confrontation. Quite unbelievable behaviour from a family run restaurant who clearly have no customer focus and cannot handle any reasonable feedback or questioning of their produce. Avoid!!!"

"I recently had dinner at this restaurant and had a fantastic experience. The price per person was between £10-20, which I found to be very reasonable. The food was excellent, receiving a perfect score of 5. The service was also top-notch, with attentive staff who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great meal. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also very pleasant, earning a score of 5 as well. Overall, I highly recommend this place for a delicious and enjoyable dining experience."

"We arrived without a booking so waited with a drink for 10 mins which was absolutely fine, the bar area was pleasant. The pub had a fair few customers, but was by no means full which makes the service we received unexplainable. Once seated we ordered our roasts and had to wait almost an hour for them to arrive. If the food had arrived after 10-15 minutes I would have been fine with the carvery quality food, but an hour to have frozen veg, potatoes and Yorkshire puddings unceremoniously dumped in front of me without a word from a miserable waitress was disappointing. The other servers were very pleasant, and did apologise for the wait. It was a cheap meal (thankfully) but I don’t think that was enough to make up for the poor experience."

"Always busy so worth booking. Had another lovely meal here. Great service, so much choice. Fillet steak with Dolchette sauce was excellent. Meatball pasta beautiful. Limoncello dessert, lovely and a decent glass of wine. The crispy potatoes and fresh veg are also very tasty. Best restuarant in LB and surrounding area. Minor point...maybe Italian bread with the starters rather than that served would be more authentic."

"Sat 8/10/22..1900 – On good recommendation I placed quite an expensive order with The Lime Tree, for delivery. Over an hour and a half later, I’m still waiting for my food, so I made a call to the establishment, in order to find out what the delay was. I was told that my food was on its way and that it should be with me in 10 minutes. 15 minutes later, no food, so I made another call, this time to be told that it would be 5 mins. Anyway, over 2 hours 20 mins later the food was eventually delivered. No apologies from the delivery driver, who was on his toes straight away. Strangely enough the food was cold! I ordered the lamb madras, which came in a large foil container – 7 of the smallest pieces of lamb cubes floating around in the sauce, it was more like a lamb madras soup! The veggie curry was dry and lacking content also, the rice was dry and hard, the Bombay potatoes were dry and tasteless, the papadums were more like oversized crisps and as for the mango chutney, which came in the smallest plastic container ever, was watered down to max. ing awful, considering what I had paid. Not only does The Lime Tree’s integrity stink, their so called food was the worst excuse for a curry I have ever experienced, certainly not ‘A Delight in Every Bite’ as they clearly state and definitely not the ‘Gold Standard of Cooking’ they allege to ‘Maintain’. It was rank and something I didn’t ‘Indulge in’ which ended up in the bin! Is this the way you treat decent paying customers You should be ashamed of yourselves! I can’t comment about eating in, however I for one will not be using this establishment again and as for recommending, not a hope in hells chance..!"

"I have lived in Bedfordshire for 26 years and have always found that you could not get good Cod and Chips between Coventry and London with all fish and Chips shops visited over the years providing bland battered cod with skin still on and what I believe to be frozen due to lack of taste and texture. However I have since discovered Sheff's in Biggleswade and it is a Fish and Chip shop Oasis in a desert of mediocrity. Thick white chunky cod everytime I order with no skin on and beautifully cooked, crispy batter, tasty chips and all nicely presented in a box. Curry sauce tastes just like you find in the Midlands and up North. I live around 6 miles from the shop but will make the round trip and drive past 4 other bland fish and chip shops on the way. Keep up good work guys, highly recommend!"

"Very disappointing evening when booking was told there would be live entertainment there was nothing unless you call Football on the TV it !! "We discovered this restaurant through the local community Facebook page and it came highly recommended. It definitely lived up to the hype. The portions are generous and the flavors are perfect. The Mongolian style dish with special sauce was a pleasant surprise and the black bean sauce had just the right combination of flavors and spice, complementing both the mixed vegetables and chicken. The Szechuan spicy tofu was a standout for me. This restaurant has earned a spot on our list of favorites."

"Edited Review: Although previously enjoying the atmosphere and food at The Hide and visiting on numerous occasions, the last two visits have been disappointing due to an unfriendly member of staff. The first occasion was when I visited for breakfast with friends and I felt that the server was irritated by me and was hurrying me to make a breakfast selection, even though I had not had a chance to look at the menu. This resulted in the server suggesting I should pick a particular dish, which I felt pressured to do, even though it is not a dish I would usually select. Me and my group of friends felt it was an uncomfortable situation and that the lady was a little unfair to me. On the latest visit, I arrived with two friends during the afternoon, hoping to enjoy some drinks and the same member of staff hurried out of the doors as we walked up towards the entrance. Without barely giving us a chance to say hello, the lady asked if we had booked and when we said we had not, she loudly and abruptly told us that if we had not booked, then there was no availability for us. We were taken by surprise at the hostile and unwelcome attitude of the lady. We felt embarrassed because the server ensured to turn us away in a manner so that other customers could obviously hear and see this and I noticed a number of guests stopping their conversations to stare at us. It is odd as previously I had read on social media that walk-ins at The Hide are accepted and I had never had this issue before when I haven't booked in advance. Such a shame as I have previously really enjoyed visits but would feel very apprehensive about visiting again as clearly I am not welcome."

"Decent traditional pub food, well prepared and good value. Service also excellent. You won't leave hungry. Unfortunately it was let down by some of the clientele swearing loudly and frequently and not mildly either, far from it. Don't bring your kids. Once they'd left it was much improved. (Update July 2024): We went for dinner just because we didn't feel like cooking. We sat in the garden because the weather was nice. The food was great in quantity see the photo for some serious pie action) and quality and we were served by a very pleasant gentleman who I think was called Steven. Unfortunately there was one occasion of the less than ideal behaviour that I mentioned previously but that was all. For that reason I still wouldn't call it a family friendly pub. It wasn't very busy, being a midweek evening. Incidentally some people have commented negatively about the parking system. While we don't use it since it's walking distance for us, the pub has a good sized car park and all you have to do is enter your registration on a tablet at the bar. This seems quite reasonable to me and stops non customers from abusing the pub's own car park."

"Had a lovely post fireworks meal at the Rasoi on Sunday, wasn't sure what to expect as were big fans of the Maharajah but the Rasoi didn't disappoint. Chicken Korai was flavoured beautifully chicken melted in the mouth..naan was light crispy, just how I like it! My husband went for an unknown (to us) dish, the Handi Mutton was pleased that he did! My daughter (10) would have licked the chicken korma dish clean if we'd let her...she's already planning to come back for her birthday family meal! Looking forward to our next curry night out..."

I had ordered the salad and requested no bread but could I have the ham and cheese instead. Previously this was provided and I was happy. "The staff here are lovely. It was really busy when we were there for Sunday lunch but there were lots of staff who were attentive and efficient. The food was mostly very good and the prices reasonable. They have a particularly good gluten free and vegan offering. The only poor point was that I asked if there was a gluten free Sunday roast and was told there was. However it was just the usual lunch without Yorkshire or gravy. It was really dry without gravy. If they had said that is what they would serve it would have been ok. I would have chosen something else. Everyone else's meals were lovely they said."

"Our party of six sat down at 19.05, drinks and food order was taken and drinks delivered promptly, my red wine was old, tired and undrinkable, then waited, and waited for our food, with an interim request from the waiter for more drinks, and finally food was delivered at 20.00. My wife had the sea bass, which was burnt, with the rosti potato nothing but a sad oil loaded slab; untouched. My Thai chicken curry reminded me of the “good old days” when boil in the bag was popular, with this dish not at all fresh tasting, so not finished. Only one of our party left a clean plate when we were finished, with two having the burger and leaving at least half of it, then more waiting for our plates to be cleared away, this around 20.40, and given we had eight and 11 year olds with us made the waiting more frustrating. When asked about the meal, since so much had been left, we told them politely what we thought and they did at least deduct one meal and drink from the bill, but, a wasted evening out. We thought better of ordering desserts and the highlight of our evening was dropping into Sainsbury’s on the way back home to pick up desserts. Service was poor throughout, only matched by the food; we will not be returning."

"My girlfriend and I made a reservation for Sunday lunch at 3 p.m. last Sunday. I have a severe dog allergy, so they seated us in the bar where dogs are not allowed. We both ordered the mixed meat (beef, pork, and chicken) roast dinner and it was amazing and there was plenty of it. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, including parsnips, carrots, roast potatoes, broccoli, and cauliflower with stuffing and crackling. I may have missed some, but it was all so delicious. I had rhubarb crumble with hot custard for dessert, which was also fantastic. My girlfriend had a chocolate dish with whipped cream and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The chef made sure everything was to our liking and the staff were attentive and very polite. We will definitely be returning. I now understand why they are always busy and why you need to make a reservation if you want to dine there. The best part is that the Bell is practically right on my doorstep, so I don't have to drive miles to get there. Thank you for a wonderful lunch! Parking: There is a car park opposite with plenty of spaces."
