"Last Saturday, after a long abstinence we decided to enjoy a night out and chose L 'Ermitage, in Clarens, to celebrate our Anniversary. Couldn 't have chosen a better location. On the lake, with Montreux and the Chillon Castle on the left and the French Savoie in front. The weather collaborated as well. Perfect. The service in general was pleasant and efficient. The tables were spaced apart, Covid-19 oblige, but we were told that the restaurant never cramps the tables, so even in normal conditions there is a good separation between them. A negative note concerns the Menu/Carte des Mets Eté . It is very limited; the choices of Meat are....only one. There is more on the Fish selection, but overall we found it to be very limited. We selected the Filets de Perche du Leman. The filets from the lake are smaller and finer in taste than the ones from Eastern countries, which are very often offered instead. The lake has limited supply of fresh fish. The filets were very well prepared and presented, cooked to perfection. Another sad note concerns the lack of professionalism and honesty on the Bartender 's part. I ordered a Pruneau (eau de vie of Prune) and was presented a Vieille Prune instead. When asked for an explanation the Bartender answer was ...the Pruneau doesn 't sell too well so I don 't carry it and thought you may like the Vieille Prune instead... The least would have been to inform me and offer me a different choice. No big deal, I corrected the problem, but it denotes a little lack of care attention to the customer needs that should not happen in an establishment of this caliber. The wine selection gives plenty of choices although you hardly find any decent Swiss red wine priced below Fr. 50.00. A bottle of French Bourgogne or Bordeaux runs well over Fr. 100.00. My advice is to check the Restaurant 's Carte before making a reservation which, incidentally, I recommend. Prices, given the location, the food quality and the service, are on the high side. Expect to spend over Fr. 300.00 for two, before after dinner amenities included. But, again, this is the Riviera. In conclusion I am not sure we will return unless the Menu undergoes a major extension in the Meat selection, but for Fish lovers and superb location, it 's a good address."
