"I have just visited Meson Darling with my Spanish friends. From the outside it just looks like a typical Spanish bar in Cuenca. However, as soon as you step inside there is a lovely atmosphere, a seated dining area or seats around the bar if you prefer. The free tapas with a drink is excellent and varied, the variety of food on offer is varied, tasty, and really good quality. The specialities of Cuenca are delicious, I particularly recommend the morteruela which was superb. Forget the more expensive restaurants in the old town catering for foreign tourists, give this place a try, you won't regret it! The wine is also great value!"

"Elegimos este sitio por las reseñas de Google maps y por tener opciones vegetarianas. Pedimos menú del día, se puede elegir dos platos y un postre. Difícil elección porque todo parece tener buena pinta. Elegimos tres para compartir: ensalada moruna de bulgur con calabaza asada, arroz campero y huevo de otoño (este sin duda, mi plato favorito por sabor y presentación). Cómo segundo plato pedimos pasta con salsa de salmón y puerro, también estaba muy buena. También pedimos tres postres diferentes para poder probarlos: la tarta de queso (espectacular), las migas de chocolate con falso huevo estaban muy ricas y el Dulce de manzana y pera, más suave en sabor aunque también muy bueno. Fuimos sin reserva previa y tuvimos suerte porque solo quedaba una mesa libre y empezaron a llegar más personas después de nosotras que tuvieron que esperar. Sin duda, restaurante muy muy recomendado."

"Going from tapas is enjoying and it's like following a ritual. if you visit the basin you should not miss a place that is considered to be one of the mandatory stops in the carpet culture. the month of confidence. "Queria un sitio para poder ver el fútbol a gusto y llamé para reservar aqui. Grata sorpresa en todos los aspectos, la comida estaba toda riquísima, con una gran variedad de platos, ponen una cantidad generosa y los precios no estan mal. Además un ambiente cómodo y un trato profesional y simpático por parte del camarero que nos atendió. A destacar la alpargata con queso de cabra, los montaditos o las alitas de pollo muy grandes. Disponen además de cerveza sin gluten. Ponen tapa con cada consumición a pesar de haber pedido raciones asi que todo genial, de los mejores de Cuenca"

"Solamente tomé algo de beber, pero me encantó el local y, sobre todo, la amabilidad y la simpatía de la camarera. La cual demuestra a la mayoría de los camareros conquenses que la cercanía, la amabilidad y la normalidad de un servicio correcto, son mejores prácticas que estar continuamente llamando señor y caballero al cliente, mientras se levanta un muro a su alrededor."

"This seems to be the most happening place in Cuenca. The restaurant is built right into the caves, which made it cool in all ways. It wasn’t packed when we came in, but nearly every table was reserved. It pulls in the well-dressed twenty-something crowd, but we were not the only family. We had a fijitas, Gua boa and my son had a hotdog. Food was pretty good, and as the evening wore on, the scene was hopping! By the time it got dark there were no empty seats inside or out. May not always be easy to get a table without a reservation."

"Fuimos a comer un sábado y la verdad es que todo lo que tomamos estaba muy rico y nos gustó. Se trata de un bar restaurante fuera del circuito turístico de la ciudad, a diez minutos en coche del centro. El local se encuentra dentro de un mercado, por lo que los baños por ejemplo son los de este último. Es un sitio muy sencillo, de pequeño tamaño y con su televisor en lo alto donde entiendo que va gente del barrio a comer y tapear, pero será raro encontrar turistas. Quizás no es un sitio que yo hubiera escogido, más que nada por su distancia del centro, pero reservó uno de mis acompañantes. La comida estaba muy buena, tomamos unas patatas bravas y unos chopitos para compartir. Lo más flojo de la comida fueron sin duda las patatas bravas porque eran congeladas y las salsas no eran caseras, un poco decepcionante porque pienso que en un sitio de estas características las bravas me parecen un plato básico. Otra cosa fue que los chopitos nos los trajeron cuando ya habíamos terminado los platos principales, pero bueno, no nos importó. Para cada uno pedimos dos hamburguesas especiales, una alpargata vegetal y una parrillada de verduras. Esta última fue mi plato, aunque ponía que era para dos personas, perfectamente una sola se la puede comer. Todo muy bien, buen tamaño y buen sabor. No tomamos postre porque estábamos un poco llenos. La atención fue buena, gente amable y rápida en general."

"I've been around a thousand times and I've never stopped, but because of the circumstances of life I had to stop eating without knowing what I was going to find. eating had to eat but I didn't know what it would be. the entrance was good since one of the waiters attended me immediately and gave me a table and sat down saying I wanted to drink. They had a meno of 13 € that I think is a little high price but good. I asked for a paella rice that the truth was not very there and second a cod to the ali-oli that left me funnyly surprised by his presentation on the plate and so fish."

"Servicio muy eficiente, pese a que el local estuviese bastante lleno y en hora punta. Los camareros muy amables y nos sacaron la comida muy rápido. La comida, sin embargo, dejaba que desear. Pedimos dos menus del día que incluían gran oferta de platos. Los huevos rotos flojos, la sopa castellana y el codillo super salados y el secreto seco. Aún así, nos resolvió la comida y fue agradable, y estuvo bien de precio teniendo en cuenta que está en la plaza mayor."

"Eramos alérgicos a calamares, sepia y derivados, nos hicieron una paella para dos específicamente para nosotros. La comida muy rica y la paella generosa, la bebida con una tapa y la atención muy buena. Nos sorprendió sobretodo el precio final, las dos bebidas con tapa de regalo, la paella para dos que por poco no nos la terminamos y una ración generosa de pan por 12'9€ cada uno. Si volvemos a Cuenca repetiremos."

"Desde que conocí este restaurante, voy semanalmente con mi pareja, amigos y familia. Posee un ambiente familiar que ningún otro lugar de Cuenca podría ofrecer. La cocina es, sin duda, de lo mejor que he probado en mucho tiempo. La calidad es de primera y el servicio también. Saben cuidar a su clientela habitual y afianzar a la nueva con su trato y, sobre todo, cocina. Los precios son inigualables en la provincia teniendo en cuenta la cantidad y calidad servida. Llevé a unos amigos de Cádiz que pasaban por Cuenca de visita y quedaron maravillados, cenamos en abundancia y por un precio que no se puede obtener en ningún otro lugar. Sin duda, mi lugar favorito. ¡Gracias por todo!"

"It would be unfair of us to provide a poor review, although our experience was an average one (at best . Bar del Castillo (Cuenca can be found at the top of the hill, walking past some nice views out to the right. The area and views is worth the walk up the hill. During our visit and the time we arrived (We did not book anywhere to eat , most places in the area we were staying were closed and we had a choice of two places to eat at the top of the hill and that were open at the time. We had to eat and therefore walked into Bar del Castillo. In summary we had between an average to below average experience. Service to customers needed improving and the food was very basic and not particularly tasty (We swapped foods as one of us could not eat what we had ordered! . That said, the establishment did seem to have a number of local residents in. The menu was limited. It is not a place we would recommend. However, as explained, if your in this area, you may be limited to what's open. If visiting, I hope you read this and can therefore manage your expectations. As the food was cheap, if there were several other places open, we would have paid without making a fuss and simply ate somewhere else."

"Sometimes the locals surprise you in a pleasant and unpleasant way. I hadn't seen the reviews and scores, if it had been, I probably wouldn't have come, but as it was late and everything was complete, we came in here. We have eaten the menu of the day and the truth is that the dishes were correct by the menu price, also includes the great beer in cup of ice, which in other places charge you apart."

"Total disappointment. A terrace in a great place, but the maitre d ' treated us quickly. Before we sat down, he asked us for a drink. Without finishing the first course, he brought us the second course, which was a deer to the point. (Having previously indicated that he would not present us with the second course without finishing the first). When asking us how is everything? Great? , we have commented to him How bad and he laughed out loud mocking us. When we left the restaurant, a couple came in for dinner and the maitre d ' told them that if they didn 't have a reservation it was impossible to have dinner. It was 10 pm and the unoccupied tables were already collected. Only 4 tables were occupied."
