"I understand that the staff were doing their best, but considering we paid full price despite a shortage of staff, I have to give this restaurant a rating of 3. We were informed that the restaurant has changed ownership since our last visit, when we had a great meal. Unfortunately, this time the roast beef was tough and extremely rare. Our dog seemed to enjoy it though. The french beans were undercooked, far from being 'al dente'. We had to use our own tissues as there were no napkins on the table, and none were offered to us. The Lemon and Lime cheesecake I ordered was bland, so much so that I had my husband taste it to confirm. It was difficult to identify the topping. We were also surprised by the price of a pint of beer when we received the bill, as there were no drink prices displayed in the bar."

"Quick lunch in the Hare and Hounds Northbourne. Roy and Brian so friendly. Pub freshly refurbished with air-conditioning. The village is beautiful. We had prawn ciabatta with chips, salad and coleslaw acoompanied by London Pride and Bushells cider. Can't fault the food or beer. There is a good range of pub food."

"We just moved to the area and had a couple of nice evening meals so booked to bring my daughter who had just had a baby for lunch. The price was the same as the evening and the food was terrible, my daughter always has spaghetti Bolognese as she says its best in an Italian restaurant. She gave me a bit to taste and it seemed like it had been cooked several times before. The pesto pasta with pine nuts I had was tasteless and no nice toasted pine nuts on top, in fact I couldn’t see any at all, it was very disappointing after I had told my daughter and partner how good it was. They had made an effort with decorating the table and the people are lovely but I think I probably won’t go back."

"The last time I reviewed this restaurant was in 2016 and we have since eaten many meals here and frequently recommended it. However, today for the first time we were a disappointed. Maybe we chose the wrong items... My husband wanted the mackerel starter but unfortunately there wasn't any left so he was offered blanchbait instead, which he enjoyed. He followed up with calamari but found them rubbery and tasteless. I usually have the pork belly and crackling but today I fancied roast beef with all the trimmings, including a gluten-free Yorkshire pudding. The roast potatoes were crunchy and delicious and there was lots of gravy. But the beef, although a generous serving, did not meet the expectations I had, based on the lovely pork belly. Was it precooked and reheated? I don't know, but I know some restsurants do that. In my opinion the best gluten-free Yorkshires come from Sainsbury's. The one served here turned very hard within minutes of being put on my plate and I couldn't eat it. The vegetables, a good selection, were probably cooked to the satisfaction of a lot of customers (crunchy) but for me they could have done with a little longer. This is not the first time a roast dinner has disappointed me. I think I shall have to give up expecting them to be cooked the way they always used to be and order some thing else. We didn't have a dessert. Top marks for the staff though ; friendly, pleasant and helpful."

"I wanted to find a good fish and chips in Dover. Unfortunately, the Owner changed 2 months ago without ant communication on it. It is now a very bad « buffet » you order by ticking a paper with a « too » long list of dishies. And if you do not finish your plate, you pay for it and can not bring it home. It is amazing. I do not recommend, except the kind waitress who was sorry."

"Absolutely brilliant food and great value for money. The service was extremely friendly and I was very impressed with everything. The man who served me was very proud of his homemade curry sauce and so he should be; it was fantastic. We had two kids’ meals, campo and chips plus mushy peas, curry sauce and three drinks for £25 which i thought was a great price. I only have good things to say about this place and highly recommend."

"We are lucky enough to be able to visit this pretty cafe on the beach at Walmer regularly. Please try the Jerk chicken which is served with rice and beautifully dressed salad. Also has very creamy ice cream and super nice staff. What a super place to enjoy the sea air, be sure to visit this little gem."

"A very friendly welcome awaits you in this pleasant medium size café. Very good coffee here. Full English breakfast with everything you expect, very precisely cooked and well plated. Fine sausages and eggs beautifully done. Omelette with cheese, mushroom and bacon was superb. Omelettes are not easy to do well but the chef in Chaplains has the knack. We also enjoyed a toasted tea cake and jam, fresh butter and quality jam. We also had toast and marmalade. Great bread beautiful marmalade. Made to feel welcome on our first visit will be back here again and soon!"

"The customer service at this restaurant is exceptional. The restaurant itself is clean and stylish. The chairs may be a bit low for taller individuals, but they are comfortable. The food is absolutely amazing and there is plenty of it. We tried the chicken chat puree and found it to be delicious. The Pehwari naan was outstanding. Our main dishes, the Biryani and special balti, were superb. The quality of the food far exceeded our expectations. The wine selection is good, and we enjoyed the Australian Shiraz. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning. It was a wonderful place to spend my birthday evening."

"3 of my friends ordered the same thing. Mixed meat grill. Presented nicely, but unfortunately that's where it all went wrong. We all had the same issue. I spoke out. I asked if the sausage was ment to be pink? Was assured it was. We...was not particularly happy. I cut into my lamb. It was raw. When I passed comment to the chef and owner, he came out and said it was fine, then to prove it he ate the sausage from my plate, and asked if I was qualified to eat' I kid you not the chef said and did this! I was a little perplexed by this show, as I had not seen that before..... he said it was pink because it was homemade. Pink pork? I am a little sceptical.....They then hurried us out of the door by presenting the bill a few minutes later. Not a particularly pleasant experience. I would be mindful if anyone dared to pass a negative comment to the chef, as he came across particularly aggressive, and was defended by the Soux chef, who actually cooked' it. I only put 1 star, as 0 is not an option...."

"Read the reviews and gave it a go. It was OK, but nothing about the experience elevated it beyond ok. Limited menu, especially for vegetsrians. We booked but found that our table had been given to someone who walked in off the street. Had to get a drink somewhere else and come back half an hour later. The food we ordered was cooked well. Service was ok but not particularly attentive. It was quite difficult to get a waiters attention. Atmosphere was again, ok. I would eat here again but only if none of my preferred options were available."

"we were regular visitors in the drilling hall before COVID restrictions they led to use the opportunity to significantly increase the prices (and lasting.) up to this point were pizzas consistently excellent, while organization and service were friendly but erratic. in principle we have used them. much less since. very intermittent. Saturday was such an opportunity when we rolled up around 5:45 clock to a 3/4 empty restaurant, just to be warned, there was a 50-minute waiting for pizzas. it's good enough to be open, but that was not acceptable for impatient children, so we left on the road for their rivals. How complicated is it to make pizzas for a few diners? as it happens, the rival gave an excellent experience so that we did not in a hurry back into the drill hall. another negative observation is the shady street furniture outside. long empty plants are now used as glorified ashtrays. the basic product is undoubtedly still great, but the management could be back with a step to check how the experience can be delivered better."

"Amazing food and great welcome here. Food is so tasty and the chef has real ability in creating exciting appetising breakfasts and brunches. Chips (fries) to die for here and omelettes par excellence! Meat products such as sausages, burgers, ham etc are top quality. The most beautifully presented and super fresh salads. Drinks variety good Ruth home made smoothies on offer. Coffee experts can rely on well roasted coffee beans and authentic full flavoured espressos. It really is a treat to come here time after time. Great management and servers."

"Superb lunch today. There was a great choice of meal options on the menu and the Specials board offered some very tempting alternatives. The food was served quickly, piping hot and expertly cooked, it couldn’t be faulted. We choose to sit outside on the wooden...benches and whilst we are happy to praise the chef’s efforts the outside areas really need some TLC, weeds growing between the tables have been there all summer, and discarded cigarette ends littered the floor, it is obviously nobody’s job to clean up the outside, which is sad. We have to sit outside because we have a small dog and dogs are not allowed inside, this is a house rule rather than a legal requirement and I know many people who eat outside in the summer but are unable to visit during the winter or in wet weather. So, whenever the weather is good we will continue to visit Little Farthingloe farm and sit outside with our dog."

"I have seen the reviews and decided that I had a neeed to go, which was a challenge as it was just snowing and it was a 150 mile round trip. they come down at an inconvenient front in the mainly residential sea front. as they go into them, get the feeling of a quirky large living room. it has no air no pardon it is what it is. I heard the table next door say that they read something that the cook has no love to michelin inspectors, as he wants to strive for different goals. the menu for Sunday dinner is short, but I decided to stay at the a la carte with chalkboard specialties, as it seems crazy to get into a fish restaurant and have a roast! started with a plate of deep fried oysters with good scattering and deafness. main was a delicious dover sole with tile kartoffel and greens with hollandaise. dessert was a truly sensational lemon sufflé with sauce and lemon jelly ice cream that was delicious. one of the best I've ever eaten, also in two Michelin star facilities (Sorry Cook). the employees are very carefully copied, as well as it became more busy and treated events also the spontaneous unexpected break of a plate (without causal) toilets clean and well ordered. also in terrible wind and snow still full! a real test on the quality of the experience. was it worth a snow-covered 150 mile round trip? Oh, yeah!"

"Came here last night and had an amazing experience the lads there were very friendly and the food was fantastic, I got a large cod with chips, I think I should have gone with the small though the portion was amazing it’s nice to go somewhere and get a true large the fish was cooked beautifully, my son went for a burger and he said it was the best burger he’s ever had!!, so that’s FISH amazing , CHIPS amazing and BURGER amazing but the lads there were what really made the experience it’s nice to see good customer service, I heard one of the young men talking about football with another customer and the older gent who was cooking interacting with myself it’s nice to go somewhere and have a little chat and the staff not be gormless would recommend to anyone passing through sandwich"

"Finally, a fish and chip shop that doesn't serve soggy chips! The chips were delightfully hot and crispy, and the staff went above and beyond to assist us with our order. In addition to trying their vegan pukka peas, we also sampled their vegan burger on a brioche bun. While tasty, the burger was a bit dry due to its lentil and vegetable composition, hence the four-star rating. It would have been nice if the texture resembled more closely to traditional meat-free burgers, as it leaned towards a "nut roast" consistency for my liking. However, we appreciate the effort put in by the staff, and their service definitely merits a 5-star rating!"

"Great Sunday lunch experience! Warm welcome and service soon as we walked in! Limited beers wine but enough to find something to whet your whistle! Also managed to try their Sunday roast good portions (meat, pots veg) and no need to ask for extra gravy as you get a jug on the side. Cauli cheese side order good too! We parked at the other end of Deal so great walk to pub (mosey round town) then lunch then lovely beachside walk back. Great way to enjoy a Sunday : D"

"Absolutely delicious! We went to this restaurant last night as part of our visit to Deal and were really pleased with our choice. The place is very uniquely designed and made us feel like stepping into a whole new world; staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was super we had the Bangkok delight platter for starters then some sweet sour chicken and chicken with cashew plus coconut jasmine rice. Everything tasted fresh and had this homemade authentic feel to it. We also ended up getting some coconut roll and pandan cake for takeaway and had it as a delicious breakfast the following morning. Would recommend!!! Wish we had found it earlier so we could have gone every day of our trip"
