".... but poor would be a little unfair. Average is my rating. How to explain this restaurant? It 's like, maybe, once about 30 years ago, this might have been a good restaurant. However today, everything seems old and tired (including the waiters, the menu and...the food . The menu itself was really extensive, listing many combinations of dishes, flavours, directions... it was like, well we 're an Italian restaurant, we 'll just make you anything you want . We were 3 people and we ordered an antipasti platter and a salad to share as appetiser. The antipasti were average (the grilled champignons were the best, the rest was just OK . For main dish, we all ordered the homemade pasta. One person had it with FRESH porcini. We double checked, because it is a little late for porcini.... yes, said the waiter: FRESH . Well I promise you, those porcini were NOT fresh... my closest guess was that they were dried, but who knows. The other 2 dishes were acceptable but not stunning. I am also pretty sure that the homemade pasta was not actually made by the restaurant but rather bought from the Italian wholesale supplier as handmade rather than one of the mass produced brands. The Pinot Grigio that we drank was quite acceptable for a house wine. The staff: there were 3 waiters. 2 of them seemed to be half asleep the whole evening. I think this was just disinterest. The 3rd waiter was better, and even cracked a couple of jokes, which was quite refreshing. The decor: well, we sat outside. The furniture was pretty dated, and the planter boxes which separated us from the street were those type that used to be made in the 60s and 70s: solid concrete, with tiny pebbles pressed into the outside surfaces. Inside the restaurant, it looked like a German restaurant from the 70s, and absolutely does not portray anything about bella Italia ; All in all... I would have to be pretty hungry (and without other options to have to return there."

"My first brush with Mongo's was for a birthday dinner in Düsseldorf. Compared to that visit and the few after that, this one failed to meet the expectations. The StaffAs always, greeted with a friendly smile and promptly directed us towards the table. The LocationClean, well organized and welcoming. An establishment can be judged quickly by the state of their restrooms, and Mongo's knows how to keep theirs spotless.ServiceUpon sitting down, we were provided with a menu without delay and asked for drinks. Thereafter the concept of Asia Brunch (menu of choice) was explained clearly upon request and the location of everything appropriately shown. The Food:SoupTotal disaster. A commendable selection of items to put in, but the broth tasted like it was flown in directly from the dead sea (extremely salty). Snacks StationOne of the items was labelled, the other one wasn't. The temperature was lukewarm at best, and the sauces were either endangered or extinct. The BuffetUpto the mark. The variety and quality of meats, vegetables and herbs was excellent. The only complaint was that in this particular branch, there weren't any nuts on offer (Apparently they didn't have any that day). It may not seem to be a significant part of the meal, but having been used to a crunch in the food, its absence made all the difference.DessertOur stay extended towards the better part of 9pm, and by that time the dessert station was pretty much empty, and to our surprise wasn't refilled. Luckily we managed to score the last two cups of stracciatella mousse. The taste was to die for, but the lack of replenishment left us longing for more. In the end, our sweet tooths had to be pretty much satisfied with the standard waffle and ice cream.VerdictThe devil lies in the details, and unfortunately this time he wasn't impressed.*Pictures taken in an earlier hour"

"On the weekend I was in Duisburg to see again the group “Yamato – The Drummers of Japan”. On Saturday afternoon I strolled in search of a café through the pedestrian zone that had nothing appealing for me: lots of concrete, lots of plasters, little green, many snacks of every Couleur, lots of fast food. And then a large coffee grinder on a wall of the house, on the front wall of the “Caféhaus Dobbelstein” on the Sonnenwall. When I entered the café at about 17.00, I was very kindly told that the café is closing. On my question as to what the coffee mill has on the wall of the house, the nice lady said: “You can look around here, in the back of the café there are hundreds of coffee mills and the largest coffee mill in the world!” Of course, I didn't say that twice. I was even allowed to photograph. And how true! All the walls of the rear rooms are decorated with new, old and very old coffee mills, beautifully arranged, made of porcelain, made of wood, hand mills, wall mills, some porcelain mills beautifully decorated, some quite simply in white, mills from England, Belgium, Holland, Austria, Turkey, all privately collected by the Dobbelstein family. Around 700 out of more than 1,000 can be seen here in the café house. Impressive! However, the world's largest coffee mill with a height of 2.50 m and 450 kg is most noticeable. Otto Dobbelstein made them build in 1998 because he wanted to go to the Guinness Book of Records. And the best is, this mill even works! She can grind 50 kg of coffee beans. However, this is rarely done, because this handy meal on such a huge coffee mill is probably very exhausting, consuming and associated with a lot of running work. This company was founded in 1858. If I'm in Duisburg the next time, I'm sure I'm going to drink coffee and eat cake and look at this beautiful coffee mill collection."
