"Just had the best meal in Roymai as usual. The starter, main meal and dessert were all wonderful. The staff are lovely and couldn't be more helpful. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Dunstable. Would definitely recommend."

"we were in the opposite and needed last Saturday a meal and chose this. wow. what a choice! we were so impressed by the friendliness of the inns, the service, the eating taste, the presentation value. hubby had fish pears with scald shaped pea tartar sauce. I had rib-eye steak (boiled to perfection), with mushrooms, vine tomatoes, brokkoli and mixed salate. we had ice cream for dessert. with drinks it was not much more than 50 pfund! highly recommended."

"I pity the locals of Eaton Bray that all they have is this landlord to run their otherwise delightful pub. Hopefully he will respond to this and explain why, when a visitor offers to help out the struggling bar person, by changing his order, that the Landlord now wants to be all Billy Big Balls and throw that customer out for wasting beer! Maybe if he kept his beer better his bar staff wouldn't struggle so much. I was surprised when friends refused to come here because of the staff... Now I realise it is not because of the staff, but because of the Landlord. This is obviously not a flash in the pan. Congratulations The White Horse, you have earned my first Google one star review."

"Never fails to impress..the staff are friendly and the atmosphere generated by the jazz music on a sunday lunchtime just adds to the enjoyment ...i had the pork trilogy on Sunday and although 2 of my companions found theirs tough i have to say mine was perfectly o k ...indulged myself with the triple chocolate dessert.... as a weightwatcher i justified it by saying there was a lot of fruit on the plate as well!!!! always a pleasure to go there look forward to the next visit ,"

"Absolutely gorgeous place with fantastic food, service and atmosphere! It really ticks all boxes. The cheesy garlic bread starter was delicious, could happily eat multiple helpings of that and be quite happy the steak on a hot rock was a really unique experience and was so delicious! No cold steak halfway through eating and you can cook your steak to your liking genius! Highly recommend the ribeye! My brother had the t bone and loved it too though it was HUGE (around 700g or 1.5lb) so felt overly full after! It was absolutely delicious! Blue cheese sauce, chips and salad and everything was lovely too! And the 2 for £13 cocktails (cosmopolitan and espresso martini) were also lovely!! "My second visit to Charcoal House within a few weeks. Went there a few weeks ago with a mate, few beers, King Platter, great night had. Bring your own beers as they don't have a license. They do great juices and mocktails. Tonight I visited with the family, kids loved it. Again, the food was great, lovely tender juicy meats, nice fries, fresh salad. Really pleasant staff. This place is a good asset to the town and I hope the business continues to grow."

"We were advise when we arrived that they had supplier issues and therefore only had one roast available, or steak or chicken pie. We chose to stay, the starter wasn’t bad, my slow cooked pork belly was the worst roast I had had. It was served with a whole carrot cut lengthways! The pork belly was served with a layer of fat which wasn’t even rendered, the meat and fat measured about 4 in’s by 3 ins and was about 3/4 inch thick. I couldn’t eat it!!!! How a chef allowed that to leave the kitchen, I can only say he or she should change their job. The waitress was apologetic and actually deducted it from the bill, bless her."

"We had delicious food here after visiting Whipsnade Zoo. This place has a lovely countryside style ambiance. 10oz Chargrilled Rib Eye (medium rare) 10 out of 10 The meat is juicy, and the portion size is quite generous. It's served with grilled tomato, onion rings, mushrooms, salad, and chips. Hunter's homemade Beef Lasagne 8 out of 10 The portion size is also sufficient, and it comes with salad, chips, and garlic bread. However, the beef lasagne is a bit too dry for my liking. Overall, this is a great place to enjoy drinks with friends or family and have a meal at a reasonable price."

"Noisy. Would recommend with young kids as like a play area. Not for a couples meal or for conversation. Kids watching tv on phones, young baby changed at table opposite and kids running about having a great time. You would feel comfortable with a young family there."

"I visited the restaurant for their Caribbean Sunday lunch and world food buffet, expecting a pleasant experience in a venue with a five-star hygiene rating. However, upon arrival, I was met with a dim, uninviting atmosphere, an empty space, and sticky floors and tables — it’s unclear how they received such a high hygiene rating. Additionally, the staff seemed unaware of my reservation, despite booking a few days prior and receiving a reminder the day before. Overall, it’s difficult to assess the restaurant fairly, as I didn't stay long and decided to leave for a lovely place in another town."
