"We had stayed at a near by boutique hotel and was told that certain restaurants give 10% discount off the bill which is why we chose here. The food was great and the service was relaxed. The discount was £8.52 and the ADDED service charge was also £8.52!! May be circumstantial but I feel as if I was taken for a fool aren't staff at at restaurants supposed to serve the meals to the table and the tip as I know it as, should be discretionary. They'll be charging for the hot water to wash the crockery next or for the toilet paper. I wish we'd gone somewhere else where there is no underhanded deception. I don't know if the owner of the boutique hotel is aware that there isn't actually a discount but if it was me, I wouldn't be comfortable with letting people think there was. Won't get taken advantage of again and won't be going to any of the Everest Restaurant again. Once bitten, I vote with my feet spoilt for choice for places to eat in Hythe. Nobody likes to be taken for granted so I won't be investing and I'm out!!!"

"they can see from the reviews that this restaurant is highly regarded and its call is justified. I confess to being disturbed when I found out it is part of the imperial, but my fears were allied. service was friendly, efficient and helpful. I can not comment a lot from the menu as my partner and I had the same dishes, but we enjoyed the freshly cooked fish that had exactly the right amount of seasoned and fresh crumble. I was resurrected when the waiter informed us that they would run out of monkfish, but they could replace them with white fish. at least this meant that it was not a frozen microshaft meal. another soothing aspekt is the menu itself. usually overlong in Indian restaurants. means that none of them is fresh. the menu here is diverse, but realistic. why not 5 stars. now the decor is a little more extinct and the only memory that they are imperial."

"We dined at Southern Spice on Saturday, April. Four of us had a pleasant evening meal there. The appetizers were fantastic, particularly the soft shell crab and lamb samosas. The main dishes were also delicious, with the Chicken Korma standing out. The desserts were lovely as well, especially the ice cream with cooked corn and the brûlée. The service was excellent, with discreet and attentive staff who were very friendly and accommodating. We plan to return soon and would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quiet evening in a nice, no-frills restaurant with great food. The wine selection is reasonably priced and the Malbec was excellent."

"I was very disappointed with our recent visit to this restaurant. The banana chips and food were much better before, now it's all about the ambiance. We had heard from friends about the decline in quality, but you really have to experience it for yourself. The dishes were subpar and the fabric napkin was torn in the middle. The employees informed us that the website we had consulted did not exist, so we had to order something else."

"We were given a gift voucher for afternoon tea at The Hythe Imperial. The room is a bit soulless and the waitress put music on which was a bit intrusive. Service at first was good but then our waitress just disappeared. Our finger sandwiches were already a little dry on serving, the scones were o.k. but the miniature cakes were not nice at all. Strange taste and texture. Nice to have bottomless coffee/tea if there was a waitress. I ordered a glass of wine which was lovely but at over £11 a glass it should have been. So all in all disappointing."

"Unfortunately, the restaurant review states that while the food was tasty and the service was friendly, there was a disappointing aspect to the experience. The Beef Tartar was delicious but served in a small portion on just four pieces of bread, making it more of an appetizer than a main course. The excuse given was that "the kitchen already knows," which was unsatisfactory. On the other hand, the Krispy Chicken dish was delicious and appropriately portioned. Overall, it was a shame that the meal was inconsistent in terms of portion sizes."
