"Such a shame for the subpar service we received, as we love the food here, but won’t be coming back to this location. The moment we were seated the manager rushed to tell us “you have to be done by 8:30 another table is coming”. Now, I understand having time limits, but perhaps saying it in a less abrasive way unless the king himself was dining at our table. Then the manager chastised us for having 2 seats empty (we booked for 7, they provided 8). Apparently, one is expected to have clairvoyance to know when a member of a large dinner party suddenly cannot show up. At the end, we requested to take off the service charge (which is our legal right), and a server came to harangue us over it. We explained all the above and he extensively argued back with us, letting us know how busy they are and how they needed the seats and was rolling his eyes and being extremely rude to us. Folks, if I had the future-seeing abilities they expected of me, I’d be a billionaire. Regardless, the service charge is known to be optional, and is naturally not given when service was not provided. How troubling that a restaurant (with eventually many empty seats within our dinner) is so desperate to free ONE seat that they would rush and ostracise a paying group of SIX. Oh and in case you’re wondering, we did order a lot of food, so you would expect a restaurant to enjoy receiving the profits of a large party? But apparently that’s not how Eat Tokyo Notting Hill works. This was perhaps one of the most appalling service I’ve received in London."

"just minutes from the gloucester Metro Station and in the design inspired boutique rydges hotel. the marmalade restaurant is located in the heart of kensington and chelsea. After they were invited to try the new winter menu on the jam, and visit the Christmas press party in the rydges. it was a joy to bring my friend T. after a short drive to gloucester street we were thrilled by the uplift of being in the chelsea area. groups of people in their chic smoking and dresses strip the streets eagerly excited to get to their destinations. at the arrival in jam cabinet, the place looked like a modern trendy bar from outside, there were a few diners inside, and the place was nice and quiet. the cleverly dressed waiter welcomed us efficiently and handed over the menus. he didn't quite understand what I meant when I requested the winter menu, but we were presented with the set menu. for 2 curs meal £15.50, and 3 courses it was £19.50 [here link] I was immediately drawn to the pumpkin risotto with sage and thymian infunded olive oil. the pumpkin risotto was presented beautifully on a large white dish, which is covered with water circles above. the strong smell of Parmesan cheese, filled my nose, I could not wait to try the court. the aromatized creamy sauce and the dense texture of mushrooms, along with the sweet pumpkin, all these aromes and textures were hit on the right place that satisfy my beinge. “T” was pleasantly surprised with the black pudding croquettes with crimped mayonnaise, I agreed. the crispy croquettes, filled with black pudding the herb mayonnaise was creamy and well paired. for the net I went for pan roasted salmon with warm butter beans and garlic cassoulet and t had confit of huhn with chalk senfsauce, roasted kartoffels and delicate stem broccoli. the salmon was arranged on the bed of butter beans. light pink with crispy skin, the combination of delicate butter beans and the very rich garlic-cooked was miraculous. Finally, for dessert we had, the inner child in me had my eyes on the Sticky toffee pudding with vanille ice cream and t had chocolate mousse with winterberry compot vanille cream. the sticky toffee was presented in a small square part, with the toffee sauce, and the smell of vanilleeis met me first. vanilleeis was placed on the baked ingwerbiskuitkrümel. the cake was nice and damp, but the toffee was casual and had not tasted enough. the ice was delicious, with the commercial ice creams. I only wish there was more of the inquiries."

"(MY HUSBAND WROTE THIS ON BEHALF OF BOTH OF US. In 15/9/2015 my wife and I have visited the “new” Café Vienna. If you imagine green fields with beautiful mountains and amazing chocolate Sacher-torte that capture your heart, think again. If you think that you have a sense of good taste and like cakes, Do NOT EVER go to this café! EVER! And the reasons are:1. After entering the Café a waiter of Tunisian origin has greeted us with very poor English from behind the counter. I would expect an Austrian, German or at least a European person to be instead of him and represent the café called Vienna (at the end their site which is obviously old and left from previous owners, it says “authentic” Vienna café . 2. We were alone in the shop with very dark /gray atmosphere and hip hop music was playing in the background (again, not very “authentic” Viennese atmosphere .3. After choosing the cakes a second waiter shouted to my wife from behind the counter, as if he was selling hotdogs on the street somewhere: “Hey, like some crème with the cake?” Later this man, again with very poor English and also of a Tunisian origin, introduced himself as the owner/son of the owner.4. The Sacher-Torte and Apple-Strudel were low class cakes that tasted as if they were few days old. Anyone with a European family that bakes cakes MUST have tasted better cakes in his life.5. An American girl that entered the café, was already about to take a seat but ran away after seeing the price list, we were again alone in the cafe. Few more people looked inside but when they saw the staff and interior they turned away.6. The young owner of the shop kept trying to flirt with my wife.7. The café next door was packed with people. It had great lightning, unlike the cave next door which we were in, the music was soothing and we also noticed that the American girl was sitting in.8. Prices displayed nowhere to be seen, no menus unlike the Café next door.9. After my wife and I have arrived home we search the internet and found out that the café was sold to Middle Eastern Group in April 2015. But they kept the old site with old pictures of staff, interior, cakes… That was amazing and we are really disappointed we could not be there before April 2015. AVOID!!!!"

"I have visited this pub once before, on the recommendation of a work colleague, and it was a memorable experience. So it was a no-brainer that when I was next in the area I would seek to revisit this venue. That opportunity arose when another...colleague and I finished exhibiting at an event recently at the nearby Olympia exhibition centre. Though this pub is a couple of blocks away from Olympia, it proved to be worth the trek, and was a welcome alternative to our usual watering hole, The Beaconsfield, which is just opposite Olympia (see my separate review on that). The first really positive and noteworthy delight was being offered menus when we ordered our drinks at the bar. This was as good an example of upselling as you are ever likely to see. As a former hospitality manager, I know it works, and in this case it was a welcome invitation that encouraged us to stay for dinner. I was pretty glad we did. The young man who took our order was unusually helpful and efficient. The only snag was that he informed us that the kitchen didn't open until 6pm this being 5.40pm on a Saturday evening. I did think that a bit odd, though waiting 20 minutes wouldn't have been an issue. Strangely, we didn't have to wait as the food arrived fairly promptly. If the chef made an exception in this case, then I'm very grateful. If not, then it was probably not worth mentioning the opening times. Luckily, the food was nothing short of excellent. Both my colleague and I were pretty much in agreement, and we were impressed by the choice, the quality and the presentation. The menu has a definite Thai influence, which was interestingly mixed with some standard pub favourites (see pictures), so there really was something for everyone. I started with the smoked salmon. I don't know what ebiko shrimp roe' or ponzu mayo' is, but I can tell you it was extremely good, and an interesting variation on this good old familiar starter (see picture). My colleague's chicken satay starter was also beautifully presented rather awkwardly served on a chopping board but I'm told it too was very good indeed (see picture). Mains were cod chips and pad thai with king prawns. Again, top notch (see pictures). This pub has a very welcoming and homely atmosphere (see pictures) and appears to be a popular meeting place for friends and for families, with the restaurant operation being perhaps what they do best. With the bill coming in at £45 for two, not including drinks, that is pretty good value for the quality of the fare. Watch out for the now habitual 10% discretionary' service charge. For this reason, don't add your drinks from the bar onto your tab, as you'll end up paying 10% on those too. Other than that this is a great little place and a valuable discovery for locals and tourists alike and I for one can't wait to return."
