"We had been recommended to the restaurant and wanted to try somewhere new with our guests. Having booked, we asked to sit in the garden rather than under the veranda, which appeared to unsettle the staff, to the point that they said they could only put three place mats on the table, not four ?!?Checking the menu, it soon became apparent that our friends, who are fish-eating vegetarians, only really had one option for each course since the vegetarian starter and the vegetarian main course were so similar. As a result they opted for the vegetarian starter and the fish main course. When the different dishes came up we were surprised to see that all the vegetables appeared to be cooked in the same way and got the impression that the chef had cooked one batch of vegetables and served them up with everything.Things didn't improve when it came to the desserts. Two of the desserts had the same combination of almonds and apricots. I don't like apricots, so that ruled both of those options out. Ignoring the cheese option, that left chocolate mousse, which I love. Unfortunately, they had run out of chocolate mousse, so I was left with melon soup with raspberry sorbet, which I didn't like the sound of. Since a couple of the desserts were served with ice cream, I asked if I could have some instead, only to be told that they had run out! Finally they gave me two very small scoops of mint chocolate chip on a plate which had a bit chocolate sauce squirted across it.The waitress' comment was that that the chef hadn't had a chance to pick up any more ice cream and we should have come on Thursday!!! How a restaurant can run out of ice cream (or chocolate mousse, for that matter!) in the middle of a heat wave which had been forecast for at least two weeks is beyond me.We certainly won't be returning!"
