"Our last visit to Ashvale was very mediocre to say the least but every establishment has its 'off ' days so we decided to give it another chance and return for Lunch, My wife and I both ordered the soup and a sandwich, I ordered a mozzerella and pesto sandwich and asked a bemused waitress if I could substitute the rocket for general lettuce as I really do not like rocket, the soup that day was Vegetable Broth.......Indeed the sandwich came out minus the rocket with the smallest and limpest piece of lettuce I have ever saw in a sarnie (which was toasted but luke warm) Taste wise it was a complete disappointment, barely any pesto, lacked seasoning and generally bland, definately not a gourmet sandwich, onto the vegetable broth, the only way I could describe it was 'dishwater ' There was zero pearl barley (or any soup mixture for that matter) the leaf celery was chewy and stringy and generally unpleasant, flavour wise it completely lacked any, My wife had a different sandwich but was also disappointed with it, she didnt finish her soup. Ashvales social media routinely showcase their deserts and they always look fantastic in the pictures so I ordered Lemon Meringue Pie, unfortunately underwhelmed once again, I don 't think the meringue had been baked, it looked as if it had been browned on top with a blow torch which wasnt particularly pleasant, the lemon was over sweet and in between the lemon and base there was a thin layer of red jam, im not sure if it was raspberry or strawberry but it didnt belong there, rather than enhance it just made the whole thing taste weird, the last time I ordered tea but didnt enjoy it at all so opted for a coke zero which was the best part of the meal (my wife did enjoy her coffee) I really dislike giving out poor reviews but if something isn 't right then it has to be registered, over all it was a very disappointing experience, beautiful interior but food and service (check out the other reviews on service) generally lacking especially when you are paying premium prices which you only find out when you dine there as they keep their menu prices away from the internet. I doubt we will ever return to Ashvale which is a real shame as it COULD be a wonderful place."

"after this review for THE BALLYMAC Hotel facebook they have deleted them and blocked me from commenting.. I have so much more to add to this as well.. If you are considering booking wedding and any special requirements is needed make sure they confirm by email or in writing As we spoke to Dena on a number of occasions about 2 extra beds in our bridal suite for our children, didnt put the beds in for them, when we asked about it the attitude from Jim was 'theres nothing we can do ' so we ended up home on the night of our wedding with 4 children in tears. Didn 't accept responsibility for the mistake and still no apology. Ruined the end of our wedding, memories are still raw. Can 't believe how we were treated. Twice they messed up. Sorry I didn 't change. Not just what happened that night but they way they handled and spoke to me on the phone. The last call I was in tears, I had to give the phone to my sister to speak to them. I was so upset and angry, a lot of my memories are revolving around that. The hurt they have caused us is unreal. A simple 'we are sorry lets try and sort the beds out ' or even after that night a phone call of apology. But far from it, I got my video back with all the guests messages and the first one was my daughter leaving a message and at the end saying she was excited to stay in hotel. Then the anger flowed back.. Unforgivable for how the dealt with it and all what was said by all the management, Terry, Ciaran and Dena.Suggesting that my guests could have took my kids or my guest could have had our bridal suite while we had a normal room. Saying that they lost revenue on a room, well the amount I ht money my parents paid and guests that day/night would have covered £70 also my mother didn 't get her flowers and a few other bits and pieces. After my sisters checking next day to see what was there belonging to me. Everytime I spoke with Dena, she was like awk hold on a minute, I thought this and that. We are really busy, I will call you back. 9/10 times I was ringing back. It pains me to say, that I would have been looking forward to our wedding anniversary and this is all we have to think about. Some people look forward to spending that night in the same or talking about the next morning spending it at breakfast with all our family and friends. Instead we barely spoke to each other, not out of being annoyed with each other. We simply we still devastated.Full review on Dena, Terry and ciarans response will be put on every wedding sites/hotel recommendation sites"

"It was one of those evenings where I felt the Gods were conspiring against me. We 'd planned to go to this place early evening for the first time on a living social deal. My date, my wife of 36 years. I couldn 't get the coal fire to light at home, I 'd left it late eventually succeeding just in time to add slack to back the fire up, close the air vents and leave for our meal. I blamed Andromeda; now I wasn 't looking for the temperature of the nuclei of the blue snowball planetary nebulae but a shade above 15c would have been nice before we went out into 2c. Anyway as ever I digress; this deal was about £20 for two. The rating reflects this fact: we were the only diners and had 4 four excellent, fresh cooked, plain poppadoms with 3 fabulous dips; mint, spicy mango chutney, the dips remained on the table to use with the two mains, two portions of rice boiled pilau), two side salads, two naan bread garlic Peswari) and a choice of two glasses of wine or beer. My wife took both quarter bottles of white wine on the deal menu price £3.50 each) I had a 660 ml of ice cold cobra £4.75). I 'd be much happier had there been real ale choices but realistically this place is in a small village in the countryside and probably has no demand for my predilections. There were a few meals not on the deal steak I wouldn 't have steak in an Indian) and tandoori king prawn dishes: fair enough. We both opted for the mixed grill served with vegetable curry. So rather than two veg curries we asked if one could be korma, this was no problem. They use a gas tandoor. The naan breads were very good, the two sauces were good with both containing similar vegetables, a mix of fresh frozen vegetables. The mains were above average to good with a quarter of skinless chicken, tandoor chicken and lamb pieces and a piece of seekh kebab. The main alone would be a score of three. Being picky: the chicken quarter should have been deeply scored with a knife to allow the spice flavours to penetrate the meat to the bone, some lemon juice and garlic shards should have been added to the marinade as these make a big difference and add extra fresh lemon juice just before serving or put a piece of lemon on the dinner plate), cut down on the red food dye and on a positive note, the balance of salt and spice in the lamb seekh kebab was just right. The quality of the naans, willingness to let us choose our sauces, the friendly attentive service and the cracking deal warrant excellent. I wouldn 't have liked to pay the near £14 full menu cost for the mixed grill main as it would have been expensive for what was on the plate and I 'd have been less generous in my rating. Then out to freezing point; a clear dark sky with Andromeda plain to see, as was Alpha Andromedae on its North East edge. The car radio came to life, radio two with a charming Michael Ball, as we drove off to 'Perhaps Love ' John Denver Spaniard Placido Domingo means peaceful Sunday) one of our all time favourite songs. Then the angelic tenor Art Garfunkel singing 'Bright Eyes '. This was No 1 when our first son was born. Andromeda was smiling on us after all, lighting our way and our memories home over wet country roads. All we needed to top this winter night was John Denver singing 'For You ' so at the push of a button off went the radio and on came John. If you have never heard either of these two songs go on you tube. They really are worth 10 minutes of your day and play loud. And home to a warm fire. Thanks after all Andromeda."

"Excellent Night. My 65th birthday celebrations with family in a fantastic atmosphere, beautiful set-up, superb food and wonderful staff. Twelve hungry, jovial people from 16 to 68 descended into Win Win with great expectations my husband and I try to visit when we can as this restaurant is our favourite for Asian food . As our family is a mixture of picky grandchildren, vegetarian and 'fill my belly ' people, we had spoken to the staff when booking about particular likes and dislikes, a few 'special dishes ' Oysters and Battered Mushroom ?! Yep I know.... But seriously, they want to put the mushrooms on the menu, they were so good and the extra taster of skewered mushrooms..my oh my, food for the Gods if you like mushrooms ! Nothing was rushed we all like to space out the courses, to allow for a refreshment or two and btw, the cocktails are sooo good. Like everything else the staff were more than accommodating and couldn 't have been more helpful and friendly. The mains were plentiful, hot, super tasty and everyone 's little food foibles were done to perfection. Not one person had a negative word to say and between all of us, that was a first ! Fed, watered and entertained in a beautiful place surrounded by beautiful people. Thank you for putting up with us as we got louder refreshments fault and for nearly overstaying our welcome...it was such a great night we didn 't want to let yous go home!!! Massive thanks to Winny, Lily, Monica and all the great staff including the cocktail king barman at Win Win. Twelve super happy people and especially one very happy 65 year old for being treated, by everyone, like the Queen. Do yourselves a favour, if you haven 't already dined here, give it a go, you won 't regret it."
