"We haven 't been our for Sunday lunch for years but as pescatarians we found plenty to suit us on the menu here. My carnivorous parents (in their eighties) on the other hand, eat out regularly and are always keen to critique a roast dinner. They commented as we sat down that The waitress is on the ball, which was a very good sign. Indeed, there were plenty of staff all equally friendly, efficient and helpful. My parents both agreed that their roast beef was beautiful tender, perfectly cooked and plentiful. So much so that Mother wanted to know which butcher it came from, so that she could get some too. My father commented that it was a shame that the beef was piled (albeit very prettily and topped with peashoots) on top of the roast potatoes, which were soggy not crisp. However, the side dish of vegetables looked fabulous and I think that the cauliflower cheese made up for his disappointment. Aside from the roasts, I enjoyed my smoked salmon and feta salad, which was tasty and plentiful. My husband chose the 5 bean chilli with a flatbread (if I remember rightly) and salsa, and a side of salad too and although his meal would have been more practical on a plate than in multiple dishes perched on a narrow wooden board the food was good. We all chose desserts. I had the bread and butter pudding (really indulgent and delicious) and my husband had sorbet. My parents both went for the rum glazed fresh pineapple; Mum 's was very boozy but Dad 's was not so. I paid the bill on my card but left the tip to my parents, knowing they were not expecting me to pay. Unfortunately it turned out that they didn 't have much cash on them, so we mustered a pile of change and far less of a tip than the fabulous team deserved. Sorry about that but we hope that this review will make up for it. We all had a wonderful meal and the service was top notch. We should go out for Sunday lunch more often!"

"I have never written a review on Trip advisor before but I felt obliged to after the disgraceful experience we had for lunch today! I attended the Plough and Harrow for a mid-week lunch with my Grandparents. The pub itself is lovely and the furnishings are beautiful, so I was expecting quality food to match! Both myself and my Gran ordered the light bite Beetroot and Goats Cheese Salad. This was £12.95. The food took around 30 minutes to arrive and when it did I was shocked by what was put in front of us. I didn’t think anywhere could get a simple salad wrong, but this place has proven me wrong! The salad consisted of two lettuce leaves, 3 orange segments and the tiniest amount of beetroot and cheese. As the waitress put the meal in front of me I honestly believe this was a joke. I couldn’t understand how the chef thought that it was acceptable to serve this meal and price it at £12.95! A waitress came over to ask us how our food was and I had to say something. I didn’t think it was right that we were spending £26 on these “salads”. The waitress did apologise and I could see that she completely understood where we were coming from. At the end of the meal we were offered free deserts by the waitress however we were only at the pub for lunch as we had an appointment to go to nearby and didn’t have time to have desert. The waitress bought the bill to us and said she had taken our coffees off the bill, but did not take off either of our “salads”. At no point did the manager come over to apologise or offer to take either meal off the bill. It felt as though the management didn’t care about the feedback! I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to my friends or family!"

"Great Chinese with authentic features like chopsticks (English cutlery available), Chinese beverages but also English/large trade brands available. We’ve been here separate and on Sunday buffet day. Personally for me the buffet is so busy it ruins the experience a little however you do get to sample food you may not normally have. Last night was beautiful. My father isn’t a big Chinese fan but adored his meal from the incredible prawn toast, to the unbelievably tender steak. My father and I are both type 1 diabetics and expected a huge sugar spike (as with most Chinese food) but for both of us no huge spike happened! As a family we all mixed and matched our meals and it was lovely. The portions are very generous but we were able to take it home. My brothers had roast duck and a Thai spicy chicken and both praised it but the star was my dads fillet steak Cantonese style. It was beautifully tender, tasty and paired with either rice or noodles. We were also greeted personally by the owner which we always take as a beautiful touch, just like the Anupam. He was warm, welcoming and clearly interested on how we found the food which is lovely after so many years of business. P.s. the young waiter was a dream! Please pass on our thanks! He was young, blonde haired, slender and English and spend a lot of time on the bar but was absolutely lovely! Thank you team!"
