"We didn't stay in a room, I was really disappointed! The breakfast was just warm, but the presentation was good, and it looked good on the plate.. That's as good as it got! My yolk on my fried egg was hard and nut runny, and they pride themselves on the Black Bull Beans. These aren't for me, like little bullets, hard and very bland! I was told after my meal I could have had normal baked bean if I wished!! No good telling me after! "The Rodney in itself hasn't changed much from the good old days if you're staying for a drink, but the food is absolutely abysmal. 1.30pm had run out of roast dinners, although the kitchen staff didn't realise this until we had ordered, paid and waited 20 minutes. Half the menu wasn't available either in alternative. Should have gone elsewhere at this point as food arrived was a disgrace. 10oz horseshoe gammon was like a slice of bacon, chicken was rubbery and dry and vegetables were cooked within an inch their lives. Everything was bland had very little flavour. One member of our party didn't have a meal at all after returning it, we all would have returned it if we hadn't already waited about an hour for it to arrive and my 2yr old was hungry and board. Appalling, won't be going back for food ever again."

"We were camping locally and wanted to eat out with our friends and family within walking distance.We visited yesterday as a booked party of 18 people.Caroline the owner was extremely helpful when we were booking and as we were a large party we Pre booked our orders.We we’re all sat together in the side room.All the staff were extremely welcoming and the service was very prompt.The food all came out at the same time and we didn’t have any complaints at all.I had the beef cob and it was beautiful, followed by scone and jam We visited the next day for bacon batches and we received a lovely welcome again and delicious food.Andrew the owner also recommended a local campsite for our next holiday as unfortunately the one we were staying at wasn’t very good.We will definitely return again."

"We were warmly welcomed into this beautifully decorated old inn and immediately knew we had chosen the right place. The menu and food were exceptional, making our birthday celebration for the three of us extra special. The staff and family owners were attentive and made sure we had a great experience. The venue was cozy and comfortable, with tasteful furnishings and clean facilities. Despite arriving early for our reservation, we were greeted warmly. We traveled far for this dining experience and were happy to have made reservations in advance. We will definitely return and highly recommend this wonderful family-owned restaurant."

"Disappointed this time whent today at 1pm, when we've been before the place has been very busy, not this time ,to say it was a Bank Holiday, it was very quiet, ther was only a couple in at 1 pm, the bartender told us the special was fish pie, we don't eat red meat, the wife doesn't like batter on fish, so she ordered the fish pie I had fish and chips, my dinner ok, but the wife's fish pie to much salt, not much fish a lot of mash cheese, the seasonal veg nearly cold, but worst of all was the bartender came to the next table said the special was fish pie chicken mushroom pie, now if he had told us that we both would have had it,that's our favorite, have a chance next week."

"After being unable to reserve chequers at ranby out usual haunt I suggested we try here, we weren't dissapointed! The food and service were all top noch! Three of us ordered steak pie, my husband the gammon and my 6 year old son the fish all were well cooked and quality ingredients (meat A grade) which made for a really enjoyable meal. We finished off with Eton mess and sticky toffee puds! Yum!! Oh and the gin menu!! Sampled a few treats keep up the good work its so nice to have local eateries worth a second visit"

"Service initially slow. Food when it came out was lovely but the evening was completely spoilt when the waitress knocked a full glass of lager over my partner when placing the plates causing him to be completely covered as well as his phone and everything on the table. The food was brought out before the plates so was sat there whilst we cleaned up the mess...the waitress ran off without apologising or offering to clean up. The main lady tried to blame us at first but was told what had actually happened. She offered free drinks as compensation but eventually agreed to take our meals and drinks off the bill. She admitted staff were inexperienced (the waitress didn't even know what each dish she was bringing out was). A family birthday meal spoilt by staff so we won't return which is a shame because the food was tasty. If the waitress that caused the issue had apologised, acknowledged her mistake and helped to clean up this review might have been more favourable."

"Service was great, albeit slightly overbearing with a continuous ask whether we were okay every 5 minutes. But the actual meal was extremely disappointing. For the absurd amount of money spent on basic 'Italian meals ', i.e., spaghetti bolognaise, homemade garlic bread, or even a pasta carbonara, I 'd expect to be wowed for restaurant quality. Yet I could have prepared the same meals for under £8 at home and been happier. However, if you 're going in for the chef special of fish on a stick, I suppose you get your moneys worth. Overall, I won 't be returning as the price doesn 't justify the cost quality of the meal, but I 'm glad to have tried."

"Will not go to this pub again, on booking asked if they catered for vegetarians, was told there were vegetarian options, ordered Sunday roast with vegetarian option was served a huge plate of potatoes, boiled and roast, vast amount of carrots, cabbage and peas, nestled in amongst this was what looked and tasted like a stuffing ball, just the one. Sunday roast options were very poor, small plate one slice of meat, large 2, only do roast on a Sunday so grandson had to have sausages with his. Cheap but you get what you pay for. Best part of the meal was the wine."

"Even on a wet and miserable day this tea room was packed. We only had to wait a minute or two though while the staff cleared a table. There are seats outside (under cover) but I was too cold and wet to consider that! It’s in the very pretty Hollybeck Nursery between Southwell and Oxton. The staff are all super friendly, efficient and work together as a team and the menu is great covers all tastes with hot food, sandwiches, breakfasts etc. You won’t be disappointed here unless of course you can’t get in! Although I noticed some people were given buzzers so presumably they wandered around the nursery until there was a free table."

"we have already visited the harbour master caffe a few times on Saturday afternoon for our tee and cake. it is a Fab place and really relaxing, with good sounds in the background. always ma, really welcome. "a hidden gem in a beautiful environment. the menu changes seasonally and is converted to local ingredients so that not everything is always available. this was also at our visit the case and the cook himself came to discuss possible vegan options for us, which was so beautiful and respectful. while the menu appears simple, they will not be deceived. that was one of the best dishes I've eaten for years. I order a burger with an salate and the whole dish was amazing. the quality of the ingredients is the highest quality and the way the cook was seasoned from this planet. the dessert was just as tasty, the service was very polite and friendly and the prices for such great eating are really fair. if I lived closer, I would like to eat every day in the bistro crew yard."

"First time we have visited this restaurant, we booked a table and on the first impression it looked lovely, we chose a starter and main course, when the starter come it was fairly nice but nothing spectacular, we ordered the chateaubriand at a cost of £85 which was for 2 people which celebrating a special occasion we accepted; when the main meal come out it was slightly disappointing the chips where like very standard frozen oven chips from Iceland and the steak was very basic, I’ve had a lot better for a lot less; the most disappointing bit of the night was the very basic trained staff, not once through the night did we get asked if the meal was cooked fine or to satisfaction ,! When the staff come to collect the dishes they just said have you finished!!!! And to add insult to the poor staffing they automatically added a 10% sevice charge to the bill which I have no problem leaving a tip if it’s up decent standard which this obviously wasn’t, It was such a shame as it looks like the owners have spent a lot of money on the restaurant but not spent the money on the staff training."

"My wife and I have been regular customers at Pastability, ever since we moved to Newark in 2017. The food is excellent, whether for a full scale three course lunch (love their lasagnes , and the service is extremely good, whether eating in doors or outdoors. the staff are some of the most friendly we 've encountered, and since my lady and I are both disabled, we 've certainly experienced the opposite. Not only are the staff (and even the manager , extremely friendly and welcoming, but also they build up a great rapport with us and other customers over the years, indeed, Pastability can definitely be described as: the place where everybody knows your name. We 've bought visiting friends, family and even the dreaded in-laws to Pastability for meals, and none have gone away disappointed. So, whether you want to drop in for a quick gelato, (have to recommend the Ferrero Rocher , or sit down for a long weekend lunch, if you 're in Newark, Pastability is definitely a place worth going! My only regret, is that they aren 't larger (would love to see what they could do with an evening menu ."

"First time having a takeaway from Usta Grill. Overall not bad but points that could be improved on. Ordered on just eat and their page was pretty simple and self explanatory. Food arrived 25 mins early which is obviously a massive bonus.... Unless you're busy...and they catch you by surprise but hay all fun and game ay. Delivery person was extremely polite and nice instead of the usual shoving food in you face and walking off as some other places local to here. Food itself was served in typical takeaway plastic containers and which unfortunately leaked into the bag and made it soggy. The prawns in garlic tasted nice but unfortunately they were just cheap frozen prawns. The calamari was extremely good but presume just frozen rings. I had the chicken gyro with salad and chips....overall very nice taste but because of the containers enged up soggy which spoil the chips and made them into a mush. My partner had the lamb shish wrap which came as well as could be presented for a take away, not soggy and very tasty We was pleased with the taste of the food and would order again but like I said previously things could be improved"

"The so called manager awrve us for our takeaway collection although he then continued to do deliveries so doubt he was the real manager. We paid then realised could have had 25% off being new customers when we questioned he would not r3fumd the difference and was extremely rude saying why would we help you save money...absolutely shocking and very arogant and rude. Food nice bit price and service awful..over charged us by 10 pound as well asnot giving the new customer discount."
