"I was invited to em brass to celebrate my birthday. Although the summers in düsseldorf are unpredictable, we had luck this evening and sat outside on one of those long wooden tables that are typical of annual markets where you share the place with other customers. Although we sat on the civic ascent and sometimes passed by car, it was a quiet night with a certain perfume atmosphere, people well dressed (with taste), but not exaggerated elegant (hippen, young, modern). the service was very friendly and attentive. we ate cold appetizers and main dishes: ceviche (a re-interpretation of these dishes: with fresh fish, but without mais, or coriander, but with a mixture of crumbs and pumpkin pieces), otopussalat (warm), auberginenburger with salat all accompanied by white or rosé wine. they actually offer a rather extensive wine card. to the dessert hot chocolate cake (it was not exactly a souffle, since the heart was not liquid) with vanilla ice cream and red berries. everything was delicious and better than expected (I was the last time more than 4 years there). the restaurant reinterprets some famous dishes, but also has own culinary compositions. the cool would be to enjoy until midnight, but unfortunately this is not possible due to the ordering authority (alone that monitors the opening times of the spaces in order to avoid much noise at night on the roads)."

"At last it was ready. Due to the profession in Düsseldorf, after a busy day, I should finally get to know one of the much-loved brewhouses. And then that with the probably oldest brewing tradition. Since 1838, this has been the case. If you walk along the east road, you will find yourself in a rather non-speaking street. I only knew, where the lights burn in a welcoming way, it should go. In front of the restaurant some men and women in standing tables that defy the wet cold weather and enjoy the fresh air in a glass of old. they are miserable. And now we entered, a horde of about 20 adventure-hungry ladies and gentlemen. And we entered another world. Suddenly we had a very pleasant atmosphere, loud, funny, bustling, mixed with the smell of good home cooking and beer. At first I tried to get an overview. Satisfied guests, hastening waiters, at the treses in the entrance area an awkward lady, obviously in the process of preparing hackbreads at the record pace and still smile at the guest. Man, saw the tasty from the rolls. Back to overview: there are the Gertrudenstübchen, the fireplace room, the brewer's room, the swivel hall, the Düsseldorfer Stube, the corners, the garden.... But it doesn't matter, you want a place and they're almost all occupied. And you sit comfortably everywhere, on rustic chairs, looking at great, the spirit of the 19th time. The following murals, admired the great wooden ceilings... The map is fine and clear, everything sounds deculent, as you need it after a day in the field, or just a day after spiritual training. Beer selection is clear. Schumacher Alt or 1838. However, this has the great advantage that a new glass is always in front of the guest. But now for dinner. Some opted for the haxe but really very powerful, but just looks delicious and cherry. It smells great too. So nice, she comes with skewed eating tools. And I couldn't cost it, and the crunchy crust would have so irritated me. Enjoyment can be so easy. Fresh onions. Great. Then there was the gpurmet plate, a selection of different sausages with potato stamp and sour wort the logical consequence. Here also fresh products, but also something for the great appetite. However, gives a super overview of the various possibilities of sausage preparation, to tasty blood sausage. And in the conversation you come with everyone. If you don't take care, you get drunk as a new glass is constantly brought. But the initiates knew advice. If it doesn't work, put a beer lid on the glass. So a clear recommendation for Düsseldorf, not for the nice dinner, but for original cosiness, to get to know food with friends and new friends."

"I visited Benkay many times during the past years when ever l visit Düsseldorf and always sat at teppanyaki table. Last visit was on thursday september We entered the place around o clock . out of teppanyaki table was...full and only one cook was serving for all those tables. Besides cooking he was picking up everything he needed from kitchen himself !!! We almost sat one hour with the hope of another cook or at least some help to one and only chef would arrive . we asked to one of the waiters if we would be served in the next one hour....as it was pm and the place close at after checking with the kitchen he said that he would not quarantee to serve us within the next one hour !!! This meant they do not guarantee to serve us food that night at all !!! we asked him if they would not serve why did they took our reservation ? we reserved table around oclock when we arrive the hotel) how it was possible only one cook for teppanyaki table .!!! why not standing waiters at least did not help the cook bringing him his needs from kitchen . Because while running in and out he was not in full control of the cooking , naturally cooking quality was not good at all..... He was not happy with the situation and sadly said that it was new management at the hotel and it was their decision . as Benkay was part of Hotel Nikko this was the case. It was obvious that the stuff were not happy at all but nothing they could do about it . Feeling deceived , we left the place and went to the reception to claim about ruining our night at the first day of our vacation. They were upset too and the answer was the same ... NEW MANAGEMENT AT THE HOTEL !!!! l would like to take this opportunity to congradulate the new management of the Hotel Nikko for the new system .... definitely they will MANAGE to have less guests too......... "We made reservations for our 3 people family and were put in the back, a kind of dining room that had no atmosphere at all. Looks more like a canteen room. They charge € 6,00 per piece of sushi that I find extremely high. We ordered the mixed Sashimi board containing 3 pieces of tuna, 3x salmon, 3x white fish (I believe swordfish) and 3 small strips of Squid....Price: € 32, The sashimi was approx. served 20 minutes after the order. The sushi took them more than an hour. At a certain point the waitress told us (after we have to check with her) that it will take another 15 minutes, but after 15 minutes the so-called manager told us that it would take another 20 minutes. We were hungry and so fed with this bad performance, we decided to go and asked for the bill. The manager who did not really understand German or English even insisted that we also paid for the beer (0.5 liters), of which I had only a few sips. The manager even tried to comfort us by telling us that they had many sushi orders and everyone in the restaurant was waiting very long....can you imagine. Very dissapointing experience and I will never return or recommend to friends or business relatives. Recommendations: 1. If the orders last considerably longer than usual, inform your customers at the time of order, they can decide whether to wait or not. 2. Make someone who understands the native language clearly, or at least understands English."
