"Very nice restaurant with great tasting curry. Unfortunately, I almost threw up while eating their Vegan Chicken ; it was horrible and I couldn 't eat it so I just dipped my Naan bread into the curry sauce. My partner and I were hoping for greater variety of vegetable-based curries instead of the fake vegan meat options. They also added a 12.5% service charge to their already expensive prices which did not sit well with us. I find it incredibly rude to force customers to have to request for this charge to be removed from the bill, it is a scheme designed to make customers feel bad and just go along with it. I regularly tip good service but I will tip the server directly, not the restaurant. We did not tip on this occasion as the service was incredibly slow."

"We are regular visitors to both Magdalen Street and, more frequently, St. Benedicts Street locations. The latter features a pleasant outdoor seating area in warmer weather. A wide range of drinks are available with excellent coffee, along with a selection of cakes including various North African pastries. The food menus (breakfast and lunch) also feature a number of traditional North African dishes, and food is always freshly prepared and well presented. Personal favourites for breakfast are Eggs Benedict or Royale, while at lunch the Goat’s Cheese Salad is both a work of art and delicious! Above all though it is the welcome and friendly service that keeps us going back. Customers are treated as guests and returning customers (of which there seem to be many) greeted as friends by the unfailingly friendly management and staff. This personal touch goes a long way, and we always leave feeling that these guys deserve our business."

"thanks for having us! it was such a simple, delicious experience. I had wild boar sandwiches with roasted potato, and my partner had smoked with egg yolk. both are well executed. pfeffer heaven! red wine- bolyki bulls blood and staropramen pilger were perfect compliments for our dishes. the service was in front of location, build, comfortable relaxed and very good timed. Thanks again!"

"I’m really sorry to share this, but the food was incredibly disappointing! We went out as a group of three to celebrate a birthday. One of the starters was cold in the middle and had to be sent back. My main dish was even worse—the chicken tasted off and was hard, and the potatoes in the sag aloo were also tough. As for the tarka dahl, it was completely tasteless and had a powdery texture. When I tried my partner’s dish, it tasted like curried lime pickle! The chapati was rock-solid. It’s really sad to say, but the evening was ruined, and at that point, we just wanted to go home instead of waiting for replacements. The service was excellent, but there should have been a bigger discount on the bill. Our special evening, which we were so excited about—especially after reading such rave reviews—was completely marred by the food. The service and atmosphere were great, but the food was not at all suitable for enjoying!"

"This restaurant is a hidden gem, conveniently located away from the main routes. It features a cozy, old-fashioned decor that tastefully blends elements from various periods, showcasing wood and exposed brick that create a warm, fire-side ambiance. The service was both attentive and friendly, perfectly complementing the food, which represents a delightful fusion of country pub fare, continental dishes, and modern cuisine. The warm Scotch egg and fried chicken strips from the snack menu are both outstanding. The wine list is extensive and carefully curated, and there’s a great selection of keg and cask ales alongside an impressive gin menu. Overall, the quality of the food and drink is excellent, all offered at very reasonable prices."

"Located in a residential location, this fish and chips shop is its locale's favourite, as far as I have come to understand. The people who run this place are friendly folks and will ensure you get the food prepared with great care, oft times giving a little extra something. There's a good range of choices for fishes and other stuff. The portion sizes are gracious, and they will prepare it if you give them a call ahead of your arrival. "Dine at Zack’s fairly often so know what to expect. Christmas time so bit busier didn’t seem a problem and staff were bubbly and friendly. There was a mix up with our orders though and two of five of us ended up with wrong type of potatoes. One got replacement pots on the house, I made do with the wedges that I hadn’t ordered. Otherwise fine until the end when the waitress (not the same one who’s served earlier) clearly wanted to get us out so she could go home!"

"I actually forgot I was sitting in Norwich, I was completely transported away to Portugal for the few hours I was in Jorge's. I went for lunch with a friend to Jorge's and we have the Portuguese Tapas lunch, it was so good, the waiting staff lovely and helpful and the décor was really to my taste. The whole experience was so good. I just wish I'd been brave enough to try out the Portuguese I have been learning for the last year on the staff. A truly authentic Portuguese experience, I'd like to go for dinner now so I can try the full menu! Home made warm natas served for dessert as well :"

"Went for Beauty and The Beast afternoon tea yesterday. Utterly stunning building and the room we were sat in was decorated beautifully. The service from start to finish was lovely although we did have to flag someone down anytime we needed something as we were not approached at all for more drinks or if we wanted our scones. The sandwiches were lovely and cut perfectly if not a little bland. The chicken roll was lovely and the toastie was nice but would benefit from stronger cheese as it didn’t really taste of anything. The scones were perfect and some of the best I’ve ever eaten. The sausage rolls were amazing as were the little tart and salmon mousse. The cakes very much let it all down. The blueberry cake tasted of nothing and seemed greasy. The macaron again tasted of very little and the red food colouring stained everything it touched. The lemon cake was nice but the icing was awful and it seemed to be made from margarine rather than actual butter. The chocolate mousse was lovely if not a little strong for the children. Both the savoury and sweet biscuits were out of this world. Our biggest complaint is that 4 of us were squeezed into a small table. We really struggled for space. I couldn’t drink my tea and had to hand back my pot of tea as we simply didn’t have space for it. We felt incredibly cramped. It would of been nice to have some music in line with the themed afternoon tea playing too perhaps?"

"Today I got a take out from the wagamama Norwich restaurant, unfortunately one meal was left out of the bag, when we realized and contacted them, they were incredibly apologetic and offered to send the meal to us in a taxi, this arrived very quickly. The food itself tasted just as good as in the restaurant. Thanks for being so helpful and for the great food. The extra mile in sending it was really appreciated as it was for my Grans 90th. Thank you!"

"I went with my mother and her boyfriend for lunch and we felt very well looked around. The service was very fast that we did not have to wait very long for our 3 courses. When it was a cold day, they had the restaurant at a nice temperature. It is not a huge place so that the noise level when busy can quite distract, but the ambience was exactly right. The wine was very nice, but slightly expensive, but very good. The food was well presented. I would say the food can not be for every taste, but much taste and definately it is worth trying."

"Came across this pub by accident when we got diverterted off the A47 during lunch time. Looks very inviting from outside, massive garden. Inside very welcoming, traditional looking pub with fireplace and beams. Lots of choice on the menu, with specials on offer. Staff were very, very friendly, explaining soup of the day and the days daily fish catch available. Large choice of beers available, lots of tables in bar and restaurant area. More than happy for our two dogs in the bar area and made us all feel very welcome. Food was fantastic with large portions I'm glad we didn't opt for a starter, but from what we saw, they looked fabulous) Very big piece of fresh tasting fish, lots of scampi, chips were perfect. Could not fault anything about the pub, food, service, everything was to very high standard, quite glad we got lost really, well worth the additional miles, highly recommended. "Firstly the 2 star EHO sticker in the window is somewhat concerning, however the fact on the EHO website it is marked with a 1 star is confusing! The food is consistently inconsistent. Some visits is OK others not. Generally the restaurant and toilets need some attention to detail regarding cleanliness and the staff although polite, struggle to communicate effectively. Its a shame really as Newtown struggles for decent restaurants. I would need to see at least 3 stars for me to visit again."

"Grosvenor Fish Bar has everything to be an icon of Norwich. Franken I am not a fan of fish and chips because the typical versions are just a carb loaded fat affair. Nevertheless, this place let me see what good quality fish and chips could be. Our table ordered cod, squid and tuna. I am not a fan of bland white fish, but the possibility of having the fat tuna as an option was Godsend for me. My wife ordered the bass with sass wrap and also loved it when considering how this dish is a modern recording on traditional fish and chips. We also ordered the Mussels from Brussels and the garlic butter sauce goes well with the chips and we also used it on our fish. The ambience is also great where we had booked a table and brought us to the bunker underground and this is another unique selling point. The price is also worth it and we came from lunch all well fed and happy."

"I recently visited Namaste India for their long-awaited reopening weekend. The dining experience was fantastic. I typically don't frequent vegan/vegetarian restaurants, but the flavors of the dishes were so delicious that I didn't miss having meat at all. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. "Went with my wife, daughter and het husband on a Saturday night (20th Aug). No problems with either the food or service given to us. What we all had an issue with was that there was an added 10% service charge added to the bottom of the bill. Neither the menu nor staff mentioned a service charge. Others were not as savvy as we were and left cash tips which were readily taken by waiting staff (so they in theory tipped twice). Will we be going to Ali T again. No due to sneaky tactics to make money out of customers."

"An interesting mixed bag here for me today. Context.... Movable feast... where dozens of people descend on a venue for a starter, or a main, or a desert. Let's start with the service....very good. all of the waiting staff were genuinely interested in making our stay is good. Natalie is awsome... give her a bonus. Soufle for starter. it was OK. not particularly light, volumous or a taste extravaganza. cheeky little pot of sauce was OK. 660ml of Kronenbourg was north of £7 (really no need for that price in Nch) Summary.... I assume the quality was diminished to cater for the larger numbers of customers at one time. But on my experience.... too expensive for the food and beer for the quality. Staff are great."

"Popped in because Mum wanted coffee in the sunshine and ended up staying for dinner. The pub is light and airy, with good selections of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The menu is varied with a mix of classics and more modern dishes, beautifully prepared and presented by a friendly and helpful staff. The garden is marvelous with a long stretch of lawn amid tall trees, and a small play area with a climbing frame. I would most heartily recommend it, and intend to return many times in the future."

"the giggling squid offers not only vegan food, but a very separate vegan menu! the curries were amazing and tasteful and the service was really friendly. only on the bottom was that they had only sorbet as a vegan dessert option and everyone vegan knows that this is the last thing they want to see on the dessert menu)"
