"Summer stop for lunch in Pézenas, we were attracted by this quiet corner a little away from the crowds. As indicated in the name of the place, Tea Room , probably very pleasant as such, do not stop there for lunch. Tasteless salad without any seasoning, PLS pie and corked rosé wine. Too bad, the welcome was friendly, the staff very helpful."

"Nice spot, but terribly bad food. We also had to wait over an hour for it with the service team forgetting to put through the order, usually forgivable especially if they had a busy night, but it wasn't, with 5 service staff on the floor/bar. Whilst the team was apologetic for the order error, it did not make up for the unpleasant experience (on top of the food)."

"A couple of things that immediately make this restaurant stand out: first the welcome and service in English where necessary and the individual care taken, including moving tables to achieve the best possible distancing. The chef is especially dedicated to serving natural food, and catering...for many diets and allergies, and without compromising on taste. Two of us shared a 3-course menu €16 inc coffee or glass of wine and a more expensive plat thon mi-cuit, perfectly cooked and a generous portion . All the dishes were at least very good, clearly made with fresh, quality ingredients, and garnished generously and originally with various vegetables no chips! . The daily menu is rather short on mains fish of the day, vege/vegan bowl or burger , but a range of other dishes on the carte. Only reservation was the price of drinks: only small craft beers available €6, 0.5 pichet wine €9, coffee €2+"

"Apparently opened 8 months ago in the historic quarter of town. Despite its name this is actually run by an Italian family from Milan. They are friendly and welcoming in French, Italian and a little English. They make a range of lovely tasty flans and...salads including a variety that do not have meat as well as cakes and tarts etc We had warm apple sponge cake with cream and cappuccino coffee which were glorious. There is a range of teas and infusions. You can sit outside or inside. In fact it was so good we went back for lunch the following day. Watch out for the formulas they work out the best price. We had homemade savoury tart Courgette with Roquefort and Aubergine with peppers plus a dressed mixed salad, fresh bread and fresh lemon drinks followed by homemade apple crumble and green gauge clafouti for €12 each. They do all sorts of deals with and without wine. There is a daily special yesterday pasta and salmon and today aubergine lasagne. All is homemade. The customer at the next table said that in winter they do homemade orange sponge cake and “a chocolate cake to die for.” Best meal we have had here and the least expensive by far. Suitable for all ages."

"We were looking for lunch and running rather late, so pleased to just get here in time. It’s a pretty outdoor garden with tables among the trees and umbrellas. The lunchtime offer is a choice of about four “planches” which looked like a four course...meal but, as my cynical companion said, was more like an airplane meal in that each place comprised a starter, main, cheese and. Dessert which all came at once on a slate. I had the vegetarian one which comprised tomato and feta gazpacho, avocado and cucumber toast, comte and a pud with peach, mascarpone and pistachio. It wasn’t gourmet but was just what we were looking for. Airline meal? Huh!"

"We’ve established that restaurants in Pézenas do not do breakfast and so on a Monday morning we ventured out to Place Gambetta to grab a coffee. Our normal haunt ‘L’Arc en Ciel’ was closed and so we graduated to the restaurant next door. Like many...in Place Gambetta this restaurant has a seated area that goes out into the square and when we arrived at about 10:00 there were only 3 other people drinking coffee there. The greeting that we got was curt, no smile, no bonjour or any real reflection of interest. We gave our order for two cafe creme to the waitress who then continued to wipe down the boards surrounding the restaurant for a minute or two before taking it into the restaurant. There seems to be no rush on her part. It was served relatively quickly after that albeit in a cup the handle of which was solid and consequently impossible to put ones fingers through to pick up easily. After serving us the waitress then proceeded to stand on the other side of the restaurant and shout greetings to others across and around the street. Distracting and not particularly necessary. Given there are probably 5-6 restaurants in very close proximity on Place Gambetta one would assume that prices would align. However not here, Royal Galcier charge €3 for a Cafe Creme whilst directly across L’Arc en Ciel’ charge €2.50 in a far more friendly and welcoming environment and with a cup that has a hole in the handle!"

"Went here after market trip with family as it looked popular. What a sheer disappointment! I ordered mussels and 30 mins later felt sick! They didn’t taste fresh, and were chewy, with beards still on. About 12 of them didn’t even open. Pizzas looked good,...food came in dribs and drabs, my husband’s burger didn’t come at all despite asking 3 times! He cancelled his order after an hour of waiting! I could nit pick a few other things, but basically, not a satisfied customer for a 1pm lunch. Will not be going here again. No saving grace, but did point out they were not charging for the undelivered burger!! Haha!"
