"A new culinary highlight in Saarbrücken Since September this year there is a new culinary highlight in Saarbrücken. The Japanese restaurant “Kou Sushi” was opened in Saaruferstrasse. Since the Greek restaurant Creta Mezedes Kouzina moved to Dillingen, the restaurant was empty. Now Aidi (Restaurant Management) and Jon (Sushi Master) have transformed the empty object into a modern Japanese restaurant. The premises are open and brightly divided. The tables are spacious with sufficient space between the tables so that an impairment of cosiness cannot occur. Behind the bar stands Jon and prepares the sushis there á la minute. They are kindly received and led to a free table. The wooden tables are only covered with a small plate, a napkin and obligatory tables. A small box with soy sauce and a small bowl for diving the sushis complements the cover. After a short time the service came with the menu and the daily recommendations. The menu already reads no wishes. From appetizer salads to various sushi variations, sashimi, soups, bento boxes, hot main dishes, tempura,... to different dessert variations, here is definitely something for every taste. Also with the drinks you can pull out of the full. In addition to Japanese cocktails, a wide selection of Sakes and also German wines from the region, a beer classic from Japan “Kirin Lager” is offered here, which is not offered in the other Japanese restaurants in Saarbrücken. The service in the “Kou Sushi” is very attentive, but not intrusive, so with the expected Japanese restraints that make the restaurant even more pleasant. The Wakame salad was seasoned with a large Japanese dressing with vinegar, Mirin, some salt and pepper. The salad was pollinated with roasted sesame seeds. I was thrilled with the creation and taste. This appetizer alone reads the latte very high for the other dishes. I wasn't disappointed. Next, the temporary came to the table. It was a plate with the vegetables and a plate with the shrimps. Tempura is a kind of preparation where fish, meat and vegetables are rolled in a dough flour (wheat flour, rice flour or a combination) with egg yolk and ice water and baked in an oil mixture of soya and some sesame oil. The bathroom serves a homemade sauce from Dashi (Japanese Bonito Tuna), Mirin (cooked wine) and Soy Sauce. The special thing about this dip is that a small amount of rubbed radishes with some ginger is added to the tempura, which is mixed under the sauce. From my point of view and experience with Japanese cuisine, much more radishes should be offered here, as this strengthens the taste of the tempura. The Tempura was perfectly prepared! On vegetables there were pumpkin, sweet potato, zucchini, aubergine and small grillpaprika pods. The Panade closed the Tempuragut perfectly and did not dissolve! This second gear was also perfectly prepared. This deprived the expectation of sushi again by a few steps upwards. The last goose, the sushi was dressed on two plates. On one plate were the rollers and on the other plate the Nigiris. Here the performance was just as I expected. The inner rollers were easily decorated with a crema of soy sauce and Mirin Inlaid ginger as a flavor neutralizer and some wash (Japanese sharp horseradish) rounded off the performance. The Unagi (Japanese river valley) is wrapped with avocado strips in Nori (roasted seaweed leaves) with a rice coat on bamboo mats and served cut into slices. ribbed and enjoyed with the sticks in the soy sauce! Everything was perfectly matched! Next were the Nigiris. Nigiri Sushi are sushi, where thin slices of fish, vegetables, Tamago (Japanese omelet), ... are served on "croquettes" of spiced rice (with vinegar and Mirin). The inner rolls of inlaid ginger and wasabi are also served. If desired, the waste can be mixed with the soya bath. But now to the Nigiris. It is important that the Nigiris, when they enter the soy sauce, are not busy with the rice side, as the rice dissolves and there is a real “sauerei” on the table. And also from taste it makes a big difference when the fish is ribbed into the sauce. See also the quality of the products in “Kou Sushi” The tuna and the shrimp were first class, the tuna was buttery, like the Unagi. The rice was also really perfectly seasoned and stressed the taste of the fish perfectly. Here the chaff also separates from the wheat, or also the average from the real grains. Here in the “Kou Sushi” you have to do with real grains. My degree is: Saarbrücken won another jewel in the culinary world of the capital with the “Kou Sushi”. There are still some small things to work in the organizational structure, but the restaurant is on the best way to set a standard by presenting genuine Japanese cuisine. The only light interference factor in an undisturbed enjoyment experience in the restaurant is the delivery service that comes to the restaurant almost in the minute clock and picks up orders here. "The Asia Restaurant Ming has been around two years. It is located in the middle of the city near the SaarbrĂĽcker Main Station, near the Europa Gallery and the Congress Hall. A not inconsiderable location disadvantage for the Ming is that it does not have its own parking spaces. Guests can get a free parking at the main station with good luck and are otherwise dependent on the City Park or the parking garages of the central area (Parkhaus Europa-Galerie, Parkhaus Alte Post and others; nothing for people with a short lunch break, because it is a good piece of road to the Ming, which then must return to the car with a full stomach. In view of this situation, we have probably waited so long with our first visit, although we had only heard positively about this place so far. The management of the Ming obviously knows about the improper parking situation and therefore takes over the parking fees for its guests at noon EUR 1.50 and in the evening EUR 3.00 (the amounts are deducted from the final invoice amount, at least in the town of SaarbrĂĽcken, no second Asian restaurant of similar size is known. The equipment works fairly dense, predominant color is the well-known dark China red. Beautiful glass art, as good as no kitsch and nothing seems overloaded. I liked the colorful children's playroom; that gets half a star from me and so I come to three and a half stars for the ambience. Cleanliness: everywhere really very clean, the wet rooms flash and flash formally. Four stars. Service: During our visit is a young Chinese and two young German men (the martial haircut of the US martial S.E.A.L.S. is currently scary in ; but I bet none of the two drunk men were ever in use in the covenant. Duck and chicken were normal for Asian buffet, the Quid rings I would have gone around far enough. Good were the Wan Tan and the little dumplings, refreshment was offered as dessert. Neither the red, nor the poison-green gods food I ever pack in Asia buffets; I tried and found the little chocolate with chopped pistachios upstairs. When I consider that my wife was more satisfied with her food than I, I give my very benevolent two and a half stars for food and drink, giving a total of three stars. Price/Performance: Three stars. If La Paella had had five more tables, they would have been quickly gone; so Senora Guzman, unfortunately, had to send a number of people who asked for a table with the request for prior reservation or to comfort them at 2 pm. As always, we had reservations by phone and belonged to the lucky ones. At home, I had decided both for my appetizer and for the main course, namely for the Pulpo a la Gallega and for the Calamares a la plancha . Not too small was my disappointment when I was announced on site that this time nothing would become: the Pulpo was completely out! This meant that not only these two dishes but also the Brochettas de gambas y calmar or the Parillasa could not be ordered. So I had to rebook; as an appetizer it should be the fish soup I liked, the Sopa de Pescado. According to the Italian serviceman, the demand in the kitchen at Senora Guzman did not confirm this. So I chose the soup at the price of EUR 9,50 and as the main dish for the Gambas a la plancha (EUR 19,50 . My heart favourite took the Sardinas a la grilla as an appetizer (EUR 6,50 and as a main dish the tapa maker mixed for EUR 12,50. She drank two big apple juice choir (0.4l EUR 3.50 and as today's passenger I took two Benediktin white beer (each 0.5l EUR 3.80, unfortunately from the bottle. Here I am saving myself wine; the three so-called house wines (see last report do not even correspond to my quality of wines. Together with the bill, two sombra came to the casa; I could have both. The Sardinas loved my wife very well; only the small oil pond in which they floated did not catch her. For this she found her mixed tapa maker as always excellent, the two squid rings that found themselves were probably the last Pulpo bid! "Free Friday – evening concert tickets in Völklingen. We wanted to take advantage of the day and spent the time at the late noon in Saarbrücken. The “Tellerrand” has unfortunately only opened from the evening, for the “Stiefl” we are too late. The gastronomy at the St. Johanner Markt is best visited with bright sunshine and we must finally decide. A beautiful table is released just before the “Langenfeld”, we can get it. We sit well, have a view of the entire marketplace. The service lady wins to signal: she saw us. A little while it takes, the staff of the house have all the hands to do. Weather better than forecast. You have to meet the guest tower for the start of the season. The maps are already ready, on the table, among others, asparagus dishes. We would both find a lot of fine dishes here, but both decide for salad (all in me screams after SPARGEL!!! We want to be reasonable, early in the evening we want to go to dinner before the concert and it will be noon later. The happy staff comes and we order two dry wine choirs. She gives the kind hint that we're ginning with the 0.5 l carafe. So order € 7,50. My husband decides for tuna salad (egg, olives, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes € 10.50. I choose the Tuscan bread salad (soaked bread, tomatoes, rocket, celery, capers, olives, mint, onions, parmesan, garlic € 10.90. An open bread basket, covered with a plate and the cutlery on top, is brought to us beforehand. I have the worst concerns: The filled baskets are paratically in the sun. But there is nix to mecker. Fresh bread for salad The cut baguette juicy and fresh. When it is served: Well organized. After a pleasant waiting period, our large salad plates are served. In the Saarland itself, not even in popular places! Everything is on top and in top quality! The tuna salad with abundant tuna and a fine balsamicodressing. Red beds and radish pieces are also included. Very plentiful and really good. My Tuscan bread salad enjoys a really great dressing. I'm not a caper fan, but this combination is great. The bread cubes should have been a bit stronger and crispy for my taste. Inside I am surprised by the bright, modern room thanks to roof glazing. The toilets in the vault cellar are modern and perfect. Conclusion: Better than expected – happy again! And: We were so “good” saturated – our planned dinner a lot. A fresh and fine sandwich in the concert hall was perfect for the rest of the day."
