"Attended this restaurant for the second time, first being an evening meal which was brilliant The restaurant is an intimate setting with plenty of Thai references. Very nice authentic Thai china was in use. Starters of veg spring rolls, king prawn tempura and chicken satay and 3 dips to complement each. All very good with the right amount of heat. We all said that we could eat the starters again….and again. Mains consisted of Jasmin rice ,chicken in cashews, sweet and sour king prawns and a vegan green curry. All dishes were superb again with the right amount of heat. Everything was colourful and fresh and ate very well. All washed down with cold Thai beer. Waiting staff were great, very attentive without being intrusive and they explained each dish that was served. The staff were really on the ball and nothing had to be asked for twice. They just floated about doing a great service. This establishment obviously has a great kitchen and staff who know how to produce good quality food time and again. Andy was welcoming and an attentive host with a good sense of humour. Highly recommended."
"OK Walton being in my words a quinticiel town this restaurant after reviewing on Tripadvisor had good reviews? The restaurant website doesn't show the menu very well but still we called in at 8pm. Yes it was a cold night and the restaurant is small but with the door opening with clientele coming and going it was to be honest VERY cold N|O BLODDLY COLD. The food and service very good but was very crampet with the mens toilet needing modernisation. Didn't pay the bill but small bottle of beer £3.75 wow no draught so a less pint would be £7.50 Not on my watch lol Burger bar opposite which looked good Happy days Victor Meldrew"

"I was visiting friends in the area and happened to book a table for Sunday lunch on October 29th, 2023 for a party of 4. What a pleasant surprise! The staff gave us a warm welcome, provided excellent service, and served us fantastic food. I couldn't find any faults with the experience. I'm sure my local friends will become regular customers. As for me, I will definitely return the next time I'm in the area. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience at Avenue Bistro. Well done, team! Food: 5 stars."

"Honestly can’t recommend enough our new favourite place. Food portions are absolutely huge, we couldn’t finish it but that’s absolutely not a moan starters (Ribs and Halloumi fries were so flavoursome and beautifully done. We then had the burger and the scampi (my partner doesn’t like fish but found the alternative variety so hard to choose from , the scampi was so fresh. Staff are beautifully friendly and attentive, our main waitress was polite, professional and warm, and what we believe may be the manager or owner was equally as warm, engaged in conversation and very approachable. Price was average, if anything extremely reasonable considering portion size and quality of the food. The biggest bonus of all is that they are dog friendly. When we went, including our cockapoo there were 6 dogs, all incredibly well behaved and so welcome. They have introduced a dog menu which is a beautiful touch and really went a long way for us (ITS FREE TOO! . Just a beautiful ethos and atmosphere, with delicious food. We couldn’t praise more highly. Thank you Pier One."

"Very quiet when my party arrived but it soon filled up. I have been here before so was expecting the food to be good, and in this I wasn't disappointed. The taste and flavours of the starter and mains I chose were lovely, starting with a Cray fish cocktail and medallions of sea bass. However, I have to say that I was extremely disappointed with the size of medallion. Not even a bronze medal, cooked well and tasty, but certainly not value for money. Really small, it would have fitted easily into the palm of my hand. Such A shame."

"Wonderful pub in Brightlingsea, over looking stunning views in the garden. I had shelled prawns for starter, which were perfect, really nice. The lunch was tasty. Meat well cooked, wonderful cauliflower cheese, great vegetables. The Yorkshire was a little dry but gravy sorted it out and the potatoes were really over cooked, I left them, as I was really struggling to get through them. Over all a good experience and would recommend stopping by."

"We are extremely fortunate to have this fantastic coffee shop in Dovercourt. The coffee is excellent and the pastries and cakes are just as delicious as those found in Mayfair. The gentleman at the front of the house is very welcoming. It was a truly five-star experience with reasonable prices. I have visited twice now and the standout item was the delicious homemade sausage roll."

"Honestly fantastic the best burger around for miles! Bird and Bean has always been one of my favourite breakfast/coffee spots, so I knew we just had to try them for dinner one night. We ordered a takeout and the packaging was fantastic, keeping the food hot until we arrived home. We had a huge order and everything was to such a high standard (ordering 6 meals and extras). We may also have indulged in some special Euros donuts which went down a treat. Can’t wait to go back, highly recommend!!!!"

"Ordered two large pizzas and extras for my family, was told 45mins, after an hour called them to check on the progress and was told it would be another 20 minutes. When I asked why after initially telling me 45mins? Was just told they are busy and I will have to wait another 20 mins. He then said I will refund you, but we still wanted the food as had been waiting for an hour and was hungry. So said ok but please be as quick as possible as our order was placed over an hour ago, he then said forget it I will cancel the order and refund you but use someone else in the future! I have used Family pizza regularly for years but last time we ordered the pizza and chips the meal was soggy and poor. I felt I should give them another opportunity, but the way the manager dealt with the delay today was unacceptable and his attitude was terrible. I now await the refund and will never use them again. Ordered Domminos and it arrived 15mins later"

"After a long journey to visit the gardens our first stop was the tearooms. The choice of sandwiches was extremely disappointing. The only sandwiches with any salad in them were on gluten free bread, great if you are celiac, not so great if you’re not. The vast majority of the sandwiches were either vegetarian or vegan, again great if that is your preference but not so good if you’re not but overall nothing looked very appealing. Bland slices of bread trapped behind plastic sheeting. There were a couple of salads that looked very nice but as salad was for dinner we opted not to have those. We opted instead for panini’s what a mistake! Vile! Ham cheese tiny bit of flavourless ham with the texture of rubber paired with some tasteless unknown stringy cheese. Mozzarella, tomato and basil tasteless mozzarella, bland, anaemic tomato slices with two basil leaves. We also had a sausage roll which was as equally unpleasant to eat. There was a limited number of sauces to go with the food (no brown sauce or mustard). The staff were very helpful and pleasant and the tea was fine. We didn’t complain as there was nothing the staff could do as everything is brought in from a supplier although one has to question why. It’s a shame that the cafe is so awful because the garden is lovely and this lets it down."

"This place is a revelation. You can tell the reception is a Phoenix of The Hanover fire, but the greeting was very pleasant and the staff very friendly. Indeed, wanting to go to the cinema after, the lady chef took our food order before we came, and it was served promptly, even though we arrived early. The waiter was friendly and prompt. The food was lovely and of a very high standard, with a wide choice of starters and mains, plus specials. We didn't have room for deserts, which has a good variety. We were in the upstairs eatery, featuring beams and architecture seeming to date back to the 18th century. Anyway, wanting a quiet and cosy meal with no hassle, this was excellent. We'll happily go again and will recommend to family and friends. Thank you."

"Avoid. Very unwelcoming! We turned up for lunch at 12:30 and happy to see lots of space in the beer garden to sit. We had small children and wanted to get a light lunch. Went to order and told the kitchen was at capacity despite the venue being not even 1/4 full, no tables in view being served food and they wouldn't even do a few bowls of chips. What struck us most was lack of effort to accommodate us in any way and the coldness of the welcome."

"The restaurant offers a wide and diverse menu, with a particular highlight being the selection of 4 desserts. The beetroot and edamame burger wrapped in beetroot and the cherry chocolate cheesecake with coconut ice cream were both delicious. It is evident that they have put thought into creating an appealing menu for vegans, rather than just serving generic options. There are also plenty of interesting beers available both on tap and in bottles."

"We were there on a Saturday and it was a hot day, the courtyard tends to be where the smokers go so we sat on pavement opposite which had nice shade . Food was very tasty just a bit expensive for the size of portion . Good selection of drinks and staff pleasant enough, been a few times so that says something. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4"

"Now people that know me know how super critical I am with food, even my own, I had the mussels to start (cooked perfectly and the white wine sauce was amazing), snitzel for main again stunning.. Only criticism would of liked a little more of the garlic butter. The waitress was very attentive, they even serve my favourite ale. Will definitely be going back to try more of the menu.. A massive 5stars from me. JUST Brilliant"

"We were in Clacton for the weekend and found this place via Tripadvisor. The reviews weren't wrong. We were struggling to choose because the choices looked so good so we decided to go for the 3-course set menu. It began with a beuatifully presented selection of Thai starters, of which the chicken skewer was the star, but it's probably the best prawn toast I've had. The mains were chicken, beef and vegetables with superbly cooked jasmine rice. Then a very nice ice cream for dessert. Lovely service too, very friendly. Under £35 a head including drinks. It was quite busy and there was a steady stream of takeaway orders being picked up too. I'm not surprised."

"Never again. For a change I ordered via their own website, first mistake did not notice delivery was £4! On Just Eat it was £2.50 where I usually order from. Food went in recycling box, chicken shish was edible, Lamb shish very chewy, and the donor meat unedible, being a bit of a foodie expert I could tell it was not fresh and the fat and oil in container was a good sign of being reheated. My second mistake, was about to leave a review on their site but noticed I had previously left one again with bad food. I always allow one bad meal, everyone has a off day but it's now been 2/3 unacceptable meals therefore I will stick to my usual place of Dovercourt Grill. £25 wasted tonight."

"The Beach Haven is a wonderful place. The food is limited at the moment due to Covid but they have a wide variety of delicious sandwiches and rolls, lovely cakes and ice cream, and tea, coffee etc. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. It is also situated at the best beach in the area. My favourite place to be. They also have plenty of books, so you can enjoy a cuppa and take in the glorious view while relaxing with a book. Thank you for all your hard work and always serving with a smile during the difficult times. A cup of tea at the Beach Haven will lift your spirits and make the world seem almost normal. Lots of napkins too!"

"We had been to Franco's many times before and loved it, both under the original ownership and the new. However, it seems that it has changed hands yet again and not for the good I'm afraid. Although, judging by the November reviews maybe it is back on track again. I also note that late September/early reviews are similar to ours, which was very poor. In fact we left before the food arrived, mainly due to the extremely poor level of service we received with our drinks. We were out to celebrate my wife's birthday and to start the evening, the four of us all ordered double Gin Tonic's. However, it took 40 minutes for the drinks to arrive. And if if we thought the time taken to bring the drinks was bad, then you can imagine our disappointment when one of the waitresses brought four large dirty glasses with what looked like water in them. No ice, no lemon, and the mixers already poured in the glass, so no way to judge what level of gin we had received. When we asked about the ice and lemon they looked at us in astonishment. We assumed that they had none of neither, otherwise why bring drinks without the basics? It was like they had never worked in a bar/restaurant before and had just wandered in off the street. To make matters worse, they then arrived later with a glass of lemons and a glass of ice. By this stage we could see the evening descending into chaos and we decided to leave. No apology from the staff or questions, they just allowed us to leave and got on with their business. Very off-putting. We decided to try Killocks, which was surprisingly good. Unfortunately, that's another restaurant off the go-to list."
