"07 April, 2014.We were a bit hungry, and wanted a snack. A friend and I werewalking from the conference venue, towards the Gare de Tours, when we spied a McDonald's. It had an interesting statue of awhite rhinoceros outside. This led to giggles from my companion, suggesting that my appetite, and general appearance quiteresembled the animal in question, in addition to my usual gait. The interesting sculpture was done as if it had been through alarge 3-D printer. It was rather interesting. And food-wise, this would perhaps have thebog-standard McDonald's fast food, fairly standard throughoutthe world. What would the regional touch be? We chose a standardburger and fries: it tasted no different from what we would expect. The local touch had quotations along the walls, which we couldnot make much of, due to our understanding of the languagelimited to a phrase or two."
