"I was invited by friends for lunch at this restaurant on a Sunday. The place was quiet and not crowded. Service was friendly and efficient. A large variety of dishes is offered on the menu, including a broad selection of meat, fish and poultry dishes, but I would stay away from chicken in Vechta, because it might be local. Vechta is a center of battery chickens and industrially-raised pigs; you don't want to ask too many questions. I have no evidence that this restaurant uses those materials, but I chose to have something else, just in case. The restaurant also offers pizzas and a list of seasonal specialties. In the present case, there was a whole menu of asparagus dishes with various meats and fishes. Asparagus being a love of mine and a specialty of this region, I ordered asparagus with Zander (Sander lucioperca, syn. Stizostedion lucioperca), a freshwater fish also known as pike-perch, and was not displeased. The fish was lightly breaded and not overcooked, the asparagus was fine, as expected, as were the potatoes, and the German-type cabbage-etc. salad served first was fresh, crisp and nicely dressed. Apfel strudel , from the small dessert menu, was excellent, but if a German restaurant were to offer second-rate apfel strudel, it probably wouldn't last a week. A fine place for kids of the well-behaved variety. So, to sum up - nice menu, nice place, good food (nothing brilliant, but undoubtedly all good), and decent value-for-money.Note: this restaurant is normally open (Monday-Saturday) only in the evenings from 18:00 to 23:00. On Sundays, you can have a mid-day meal (as I did) from 12:00 until 14:30 and an evening meal from 17:00 to 23:00."
