"We have visited the Kings Arms before for Sunday lunch and recently made a reservation with our children and parents. The restaurant has now transformed into a Thai restaurant with the option of a Sunday roast dinner. We all opted for the Sunday roast, with 2 pork, 3 trio, and 1 roast beef. Unfortunately, during our meal, the power went out, leaving us in the dark for about 15 minutes. My roast beef tasted off and was inedible, while my mother-in-law also found the beef to have a strange taste. When we brought it up to the server, the manager or cook was summoned to sniff the meat, but no explanation or resolution was offered. It appeared that the meat had been cooked, left to cool, and reheated. At £17.50 for the trio and additional charges for gravy and cauliflower cheese, we expected a better quality Sunday lunch. Despite the mishap, the lack of ownership and accountability was disappointing. We were offered dessert, which we declined due to the unpleasant experience with the meat, and only received a £2 discount, which we found unacceptable. The manager/chef was confrontational when my husband requested the meal be comped. Eventually, two meals were removed from our bill, which we appreciated, but it would have been preferable for that to be offered from the start. Perhaps the restaurant should focus solely on Thai cuisine, as it appears to be their main offering. The combination of Thai food and decor in a traditional pub setting felt mismatched."
