"Hello. I was recommended this restaurant, although I had my uncertainties due to previous reviews. I booked it for 10 of us as a family treat. When we arrived a member of staff, who turned out to be the manager, looked at us blankly and made no effort to seat us it was another staff member who stepped in and took us to our table (Nice chap). The manager came over to take the order and just stared at each of us like we were a complete inconvenience, no talking or assistance. The food was ok and most staff friendly but the manager is a very rude man and I will not be putting money in his pocket again. Other people there were having the same experience and we found out that he wants payment in cash (which he did)....seems strange that the card machine is still out of order after months/years?"

"Visiting Lowestoft on a very Wet morning so called in for a coffee. Served by couple of friendly young women. Coffee fine and bought a scone to share. The pastries and cakes all looked lovely and were nicely on display. Quite busy for wet Tuesday with lots coming in for take aways, I presume they have regular locals in daily."

"Our first visit was on Saturday 3rd July. As we walked into the premises to eat, we didn 't have great expectations about the food, hopefully fair 'pub ' food. Boy were we wrong! The burger was 100% pure beef and cooked perfectly. The whole tail scampi, was WHOLE TAIL SCAMPI and not some frozen mush and the cod was extremely tasty and so big it could have fed three of us!!!! Cooked perfectly, served and presented really well. Thee staff were warm, welcoming and attentive without being pushing. We were staying on the site for a week and ate there on several occasions and every meal was extremely good, from the curry to the scampi. Gavin has a very good team here, getting everything right. Oh and you don 't have to be staying on the site or mariner to visit here."

"Being vegetarians on holiday in Soutwold looking for a good lunch/dinner, we walked up one side of the main street and down the other, looking for a reasonably priced eatery. Opted for Squiers who offered an all day breakfast and was told they do a vegetarian option. When we got inside there was a 'special of the day ' board, and it was offering a nut roast, which we opted for. WOW, a nut roast with a selection of 8 vegetables, beautifully cooked and delicious, £9.95. If this had been on the board outside, vegetarians would have been fighting to get in the door. Squiers, let people know what vegetarian options you offer. Thank you for a really delicious dinner, but you could have saved us some footfall if you had advertised your vegetarian options outside, we could have chosen you much sooner."

"We called in here around 5 o’clock in the week after visiting nearby for an early tea. I chose the bacon and brie sandwich which was basically some reheated bacon with a huge slab of brie in the baguette. No effort was really made to try and melt the brie as it would normally be due to this I left quite a bit of brie. A partner chose a jacket potato which generally you can’t get wrong however this was quite hard in the middle and not particularly hot. I would imagine they were pre-cooked earlier and just reheated when people came in. The first beer that I had had a very funny taste however that was changed no problem. With such a huge selection of pubs around we certainly wouldn’t bother coming back"

"It would be very easy to be put of this place if you judged it from the first impression it creates when you arrive outside. The sight of a slightly ramshackle building on a decidedly disreputable looking industrial estate didn 't bode well, but we 'd visited on the strength of some good reviews and they proved to be correct. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit here and as a result have been back another couple of times since. The premises, which has Thai owners, is decked out in the style of an American diner, with lots of quirky Americana adorning every spare surface in the restaurant, along with a bar, a pool table and a jukebox, to complete the effect. No menus but all the dishes on offer are written up on boards around the walls, including a huge selection on a specials board . Most of what is on offer is traditional American diner food...that is to say, burgers, dogs, ribs etc...but in addition to these, there is a good selection of other dishes, ranging from an assortment of breakfasts, roast dinners, pasta and some really excellent Thai food. All the food we 've tried has been really good. All freshly prepared to order on the premises, incredibly good value and accompanied by some very friendly and welcoming service. This place is certainly a bit different from most places we 've eaten, both in its location and decor, but the food is good, value fantastic and atmosphere great. Definitely worth a try."

"We were at the car dealership next door and wanted something quick to eat and saw that On a Roll was open. When we got there they were packing up for day as it was 2pm which is when they would normally close but the man on the outside grill said that it was no problem to order lunch and I am glad we did. The customer service was excellent and they went over and above to serve us lovely food, my son even got a little something extra on the side. Whilst we don't live in the area we would definitely recommend going there if you want a delicious burger and great service and would definitely go back if we visit Lowestoft again."

"It would have been nice if the children's menus were already on the table as we had previously mentioned having two children during the booking. Our waitress had to go ask what the soup of the day was, which was a bit annoying. It would have been more professional if she had greeted us with the soup of the day and children's menus without us having to ask. While waiting for the soup information, I enjoyed the lovely seafront location with a clear view of passing boats. The restaurant was nicely decorated, and the outdoor seating on the seafront seemed like it would be pleasant on a summer day. However, the smell of smoke coming in whenever someone entered or exited was off-putting. When we ordered, they asked if we wanted the children's meals to come out with our starters, which was convenient. However, I was not happy when the waitress placed my 2-year-old's hot plate directly in front of him, despite warning us it was very hot. This was unprofessional and unsafe. The soup I ordered was more like tomato puree and very salty. It was served in a rustic pot with bread, but the soup was disappointing. My husband enjoyed his whitebait, and the children's meals seemed cheap and not very appetizing. My Belly of Pork was fatty, and the skin was solid instead of crispy. The garlic mash was average, and the vegetables seemed frozen. My husband enjoyed his Classic Combo, especially the tandoori chicken, but agreed that my meal and the children's dishes were substandard. The drinks were okay, but my husband's Bitter shandy was flat. The bill for the family of four with two courses each came to £76, which would have been reasonable if the food had been better. Overall, I was disappointed with the experience and would not return. The staff need better training, especially when it comes to serving hot food to children. I will not recommend this restaurant to my friend who was considering it for her wedding venue."

"We came here for Sunday lunch over the August BH weekend due to COVID precautions only seating outside was available (we could see this from the website but were also told when we phoned to book) but that suited us fine. Pre booking was required and details taken for contact tracing (a big tick for us). Limited menu but the beef roast was incredible. The beef was excellent but the vegetables were the star of the show the most amazing array of veggies were on the plate crispy kale, sliced candy stripe beetroot, roast carrots, roast cauliflower etc. along with the obligatory Yorkshire puddings and roast tatties and gravy Yum! Friendly service all round. Nothing to complain about. Would definitely recommend!"

"While staying locally for a few days, we decided to venture out for an early light dinner. As we pulled in to the White Hart, we saw a notice advertising Moules Frites. To sum up, the service from start to finish was excellent, the moules were plentiful and, in my opinion, better than any I have had over many years of enjoying this dish all over France. Even the fries, dare I say, were the best ever. My wife also thoroughly enjoyed the smoked trout starter with a focaccia side. Sadly we live over 100 miles away otherwise this could easily become a Thursday night regular."

"So many friends have raved about this restaurant so we decided to try it. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. For a Thai restaurant, I found the menu a little strange. We ordered chicken satay, pork spring rolls, calamari? Portion size was fairly small and i wasn't keen on the spring rolls. Mains We had pork noodles, monk fish, burger and 2 kids meals. Monk fish with sautéed potatoes. The let down was the spuds were just new potatoes and hadn't seen a pan. Pork noodles were my order and the noodles tasted like ones I have at home in the cupboard. I'd expect decent noodles. Burger looked good and son love it. 2 kids meals went down a treat. The bill was in my opinion high for what we received however I've not been out in a while and there is a crisis out there. I personally wouldn't go back however other family members said they would. So I wouldn't recommend it buti wouldn't put you off either, I guess it's down to personal taste."

"4 of us went fishing at Halesworth lakes and stayed at The Lord Nelson, Holton. Our expectations were low we're fishermen, we were there for the fish, not the food or the decor! However.........we had a great experience: The welcome was friendly;The rooms were clean, nicely decorated/furnished;The food was excellent;It was good value;We felt the prices were reasonable for the high quality offered.All in all it was a lovely surprise. We will be going again."

"We visited on Friday 9th August and were so dissapointed. We have been visiting this restaurant for years under its previous name of Nemos and always found it a pleasure. The location is so fabulous and I think the current owners are missing a trick. The menu is very limited, first option was unavailable. Ordered a steak pudding, steak and kidney pie, cheese and onion pudding and a cheese and bacon burger. The burger was enjoyed, but the pies/pudding were hideous. The quality was that of a supermarket value brand, and clearly microwaved making the pastry inedible. Chips tasted as if they had been left over and refried to heat them through. Peas so cold that the butter put on them wasn't melting. All in all not good value or good quality. Shall not be returning."

"We only stayed at this hotel for one night and found it to be quite disappointing. The room was very small, overly warm, poorly ventilated, and noisy if the window was opened. The door lock was also very difficult to use. The staff were friendly enough but could benefit from additional training as they seemed inexperienced. Breakfast was not enjoyable, as it was a self-service setup with lukewarm coffee and a lack of quality in the food offerings. The full English breakfast I selected was subpar, with cold and unappetizing sausage and rubbery eggs. Even the toast needed multiple toasting attempts before it was edible. Overall, I would not choose to visit this hotel again for accommodation, dining, or drinks. The lack of care and attention to detail throughout the experience was disappointing, and I don't see any signs of improvement in the future. I did not feel looked after during my stay, and returning home was a relief after the underwhelming experience."

"Booked for a Sunday lunch today. After waiting at the table I realised I would need to go find a menu as there was not one on the table and no one came. Went up and ordered food and although I ordered toasted was brought cheese and tomato sandwich instead. We didn’t bother complaining as it looked and tasted very nice. Freshly made and plenty of it. We ordered scones and cream which were ok. On going to pay we were asked to pay cash luckily I had some. The toilet was not pleasant lots of cob webs and spiders!! On visiting the plant nursery next door the lady came from cafe to serve us and made a derogatory remark about a disability (my daughter passed away last year and had this disability) I am positive she was trying to be friendly but perhaps should choose her wording better. It is a shame that somewhere serving such nice food is let down by other aspects."

There are always new and interesting concoctions made with passion. Get there as early as possible.To the 1 star review below what a mean spirited and unreasonable review. It's a pop up shop which closes when stock is sold out. It isn't a cafe, so if you want an artisan coffee then go elsewhere? It's also only open on a Saturday. If it is open on a Sunday like you say, then all the better for the rest of us."

"I had a lovely meal with a big group in 2023. We went early in the day and were the only table, despite that it was a nice experience.
