"Wedding Anniversary overnight stay. Great surroundings. Meet greet superb. Food. Absolutely dreadful. Asked at 5 o 'clock for the dinner menu and told the Chef was preparing it. Went tin to restaurant at 7. 5 of the 6 choices (see photo) for dinner was frozen food. No peppercorn sauce, cheesecake or syrup sponge. The deep fried sausages in the sausage and mash should only be used in hand to hand combat. The triangular preformed frozen fish and frozen chips left a lot to be desired. In all an anniversary meal we will always remember for the wrong reasons. It was a continental breakfast in the morning as I think they just couldn 't be bothered to cook anything. If you stay in this quiet, relaxing , rural hotel. EAT OUT."

"We visited twice last week as we were on a holiday on the Llangollen canal. On entering we were met by two friendly staff, who chatted to us as we ordered drinks, I had noticed the Bikers welcome sign outside , and as an ex-biker was pleased to see it. We myself, wife and 3 grandsons) ordered meals and drinks. I had the fish and chips, wife and eldest GS had chicken and two younger GS the kids I think) lasagne. All meals well cooked and the 2 youngest jokingly lick their plates ugh). Bill came to £38 plus two more rounds of drinks. The food and staff were all excellent but the view towards the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is stunning. We have been to some drinking places with great views around the World in Australia,USA and Europe) but this is one of the most picturesque I have seen. We revisited the following day on our return down the cut, but just had drinks, as we had eaten in Trevor. See review of Telford Inn."

"Firstly this is my take on the strawberry fields break fast and everyone has different views.Restaurant was not busy as we were early, and our food took about 15 ish mins, it was freshly cooked.Outstanding items to me were the black pudding and the sausage (although if a choice I would not choose a leek sausage)Tomato, toast, egg and bacon, these items were nicely seasoned and cooked.Letting the dish down in my view were the mushrooms and beans to me both these items appeared tasteless.Value for money yes, when all the items are tasty."

"We called here for a lunch out of the blue. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. It took ages to be served at the bar for drinks although it wasn't that busy, the food took around an hour to come and some of it was wrong, we overheard one member of staff speaking rather unprofessionally to another table as they were adamant they had not made a mistake but judging by our meal being slightly wrong they probably had. Two of the meals didn't come with what they were supposed to via the menu. Two puddings came out but mine didn't for another 10-15mins or so by which point the other two had finished theirs as it was going cold. Overall we were quite disappointed and I'm not sure we will return. It's a shame as the decor was quite nice and it was overlooking some lovely views."

"I have been thinking about this review for a bit of time . We had a christening cake made here and it looked amazing had all the wow factor you expect from a £100 cake and then there is the taste . Don't get me wrong it wasn't a bad cake the chocolate level was nice enjoyed by all but was Notting different than what you could buy from a local supermarket . The cookie and cream level was not good was very dry and the taste was just so sweet it may be it just was not mine or are guests cup of tea . I dident return it as by the time I came to have some it had been given out and a lot of the cookie and cream level ended in the bin ."

"My family and I had a lovely curry evening to celebrate a family birthday. We ordered drinks to start with and then ordered starters, we did not feel under any pressure to order unlike other Indian restaurants in Wrexham where we have felt rather rushed,...start to finish. The seating area is clean and comfortable and the atmosphere is relaxed. We had poppadoms to start with, together with nice dips, followed by a lovely vegetable selection. For main course I had a chicken Madras, which was extremely tasty. My wife asked if the chef could make the lamb and chickpea curry with king prawns instead and this was no problem at all. My wife said the curry was beautiful and fresh tasting. Two of my daughters had chicken tikka masala, again good reviews and our youngest daughter had chicken korma. Great food we all had clean plates. Staff were very friendly and even surprised us with a cake and candles. My family had a great time and good value for money. Many Thanks to Malik and the team. Kind Regards Darren"

"Called in here a few times just meeting with a family member that lives near for a coffee and a chat. Last week I had the chance to try the breakfast. All I can say is spot on. Food was cooked fresh and just how I like it.It is very good quality products.I also ordered food to takeaway for someone else and the staff made it fresh for when I left rather than making it and letting it get cold whilst I tucked in to my food. Staff are always friendly and bring everything over to the table. Clean cafe with good food and great staff, what more can you ask for."

"We visited with work for the second time. Last year I was kept waiting for half an hour for my veggie meal and everyone else had finished. This year I arrived 20 minutes early and ordered mine but it was still well over half an hour for me to wait and yet again my vegetables had gone cold and everyone else had eaten. The other thing I didn’t like was the only choice of vegetarian meal which was ratatouille and goats cheese spring roll. I don’t like goats cheese and the roll had gone soggy in the bowl of wet ratatouille. As a vegetarian I like to eat with everyone else but it was a disappointing separate meal that didn’t go with turkey trimmings. Why can’t they do but roast or a mushroom wellington with vegetarian gravy? I was very disappointed and won’t be returning for the third year in a row."

"Living in Cornwall, we were unable to eat at the garden restaurant we had reserved in the south. It was only after contacting our local restaurant to confirm the reservation that we discovered the internet had mistakenly sent the confirmation to the wrong place. Thank you for your help, Mike."

"This is now called Gwersyllt Takeaway having dropped the Zilan from the name and changed hands Evwrything about premises is the same. Similar menu etc. Id like to say its improvef but on todays efforts i couldnt honestly say that. Today i had large doner meat n chips. Price £7.80. I realise things have gone up. HOwever im use to meat from doner being tripped /cut off with a certain width and thickness of slice. But this offering was slithers of doner mean barely a centimeter width and thickness of just over a milimeter. It would do justice to a skin graft such was the thiness ... When this is heaped onto the chips,it may look a lot but you find its not..far from it and not worth the £7.80 price. So will i go there again... fraid not"

"On my first visit to Wrexham, I stopped for lunch at the Wynnstay Arms. The staff were clear on the ordering process, with drinks and food selection placed at the bar, making it partly self-service. After waiting for 15 to 20 minutes, our starters of wings, ribs, and mushroom soup arrived. The soup was lukewarm and lacked flavor, and the bread roll was hard and almost stale. The ribs were decent, but it seemed like the soup had been sitting for a while. However, my 8 oz rump steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare as requested. My wife's jacket potato, tuna, and salad were satisfactory. We paired our dishes with a glass of Chilean merlot and a tonic water. Overall, the experience was somewhat disappointing with a mix of results. The delays in the food seemed to come from the kitchen. The restaurant had about 7 occupied tables, but not all were being served food. Despite the comfortable seating at a window table, our final impression was not the best."

"We have always enjoyed food from Tam' s previously but have been really disappointed this time. The plum sauce was totally congiealed and had only milimeters in it, a total waste of packaging . The chilli sauce was really thick and gloopy. The Pad Thai and was taseless and the chicken was dry beyond beliefe and the noodles where like glue. The Singapore noodles had a bit of flavour but all of the mixed meats where well over done! We have had a nibble of the dry starters and tried the other stiff and ended up leaving the rest! Really gone down hill! Doubt we will bother coming again."

"we have booked a table for 3 tee for the afternoon. the weather was cruel, snow under foot and heavy hit. despite the search for lied drowned rats we were warmly welcomed and shown on our sitting. the young boy introduced himself as a waiter and he would take care of us. I'm so sorry, but I forgot his name! but he was absolutely brilliant. an absolute star. we had the restaurant for us that made our visit. the afternoon was nice, although we were very disappointed with the scones we noticed at the time. a wonderful, relaxing visit that we all enjoy."

"It is frustrating for loyal customers when the restaurant closes unexpectedly on certain days. This can be disappointing for those who enjoy the food and have made plans with their families. It becomes a challenge to make last-minute meal arrangements on those random closure days."

"Went for their Carvery meal to celebrate the Mother-In-Law 's 90th birthday and had to pay a deposit beforehand as had a party of 15 (not heard of that before) and also had to book our meals in advance. With being registered Coeliac with a Gluten-Free diet I have to know they can cater for me to which they weren 't really very helpful with the wording going along the lines of we think we can cater for you which for the prices they charge is not really the attitude you would expect. I ordered their Carvery meal and a G/F crumble custard. We turned up today and were told the crumble wasn 't available so what was the point in ordering in advance? I went for my carvery and had to enquire at what was available to me only for the chef/server to have to ask what there was grrrrrr. The Yorkshire puddings were right next to the roasters and all the customers were taking them with their tongs OVER the roasters which would 've then caused cross-contamination when bits fell into the roaster tray! Those said roasters were rock hard by the way! The beef I had was gristly and that gristle would not cut with the knife, the turkey was dry and I struggled to chew and swallow it, there was no white normal mashed potatoes but a mocked up mash of carrot turnip so don 't know if there were any potatoes in it really! I then had an Eton mess for pudding and it was so sharp with the jelly/juice it was unpalatable! So, I didn 't have a nice experience at all really!"

"We are currently in Cornwall, and we had made a reservation at the Garden Restaurant. However, we ended up at South Clouds, which we didn't intend to visit. I only realized the mistake when I called the local restaurant to confirm our booking and discovered that the online reservation had been made for the wrong location. - Yes, Mike."
