"The Casina Valadier is so called because the great Roman architect Giuseppe Valadier (1762 – 1839) who designed the Pincio, designed and built it. It is a neoclassical style adaptation of a pre-existing 16th century building, construction which began between 1816 and ended in 1837. The three-storey building has a predominantly cubic shape, with the embellishment of an exedra with columns and capitals and pilasters on the building that make it soar. Over time it was subject to many interventions, including by the famous architect Marcello Piacentini in 1919. After various vicissitudes, which also saw it relegated to the modest home of the park keeper and also linked to the events of the Second World War, it has now become a splendid location, with a panoramic restaurant and bar. The structure is used, thanks to the various rooms present, for events and ceremonies. Of great value are the finely decorated internal spaces with archaeological and external remains which are located in a splendid garden, where there is also the suggestive amphora fountain. "My parents came to Sorrento 45 years ago for their anniversary. They told me that when they were in Sorrento they had ice cream in the shape of spaghetti. When I came here I did a Google search and found this place. Decided to order it for fun and it was very good. Told the owner of the shop, who said that my parents must have eaten at her grandfather’s shop, as it is the only one doing a dish like this in Sorrento. So do try the spaghetti ice cream. "2ª e ultima visita a The BIG. Durante la prima visita non sono rimasto colpito dalla qualità del cibo, ma il servizio era accettabile. Ieri sono tornato per la mia 2ª e ultima visita con mio marito e un amico. La cameriera dava l'impressione di parlare inglese fluentemente. Ho ordinato da bere e il loro piatto speciale del lunedì dicendo "vorrei costine all you can eat", proprio come riportato nel loro volantino pubblicitario per €10. Lei ha ripetuto e poi si è spostata al prossimo commensale al tavolo. L'amico ha voluto lo stesso piatto. Mio marito ha ordinato un hamburger semplice. Quando il piatto è arrivato, si trattava di piccoli pezzi di carne. Sia io che il mio amico abbiamo pensato che, poiché i pezzi erano attaccati alle costine, fosse il loro modo di servire le costine. Non molto soddisfatti, abbiamo mangiato la nostra cena. Durante tutto questo tempo non abbiamo visto la cameriera. Una volta finito di mangiare la carne, abbiamo fatto cenno alla cameriera e le abbiamo chiesto di portarne di più, ma non avevano costine normali? All'improvviso lei non parlava più inglese e ha chiamato un'altra cameriera che parlava inglese fluentemente. Questa ha spiegato che avevano commesso un errore e ci ha chiesto se volevamo le costine. Abbiamo indicato di sì. Le costine sono state poi servite e siamo proceduti a mangiare quello che volevamo. Non mi è piaciuta né la qualità né il sapore delle costine. Passando al pagamento, la stessa cameriera ha registrato il nostro acquisto. Ci ha addebitato i due piatti originali a €19 ciascuno e €10 ciascuno per le costine. Ho messo in dubbio questo, e lei ha immediatamente fatto tornare il suo collega. Il collega ha spiegato che anche l'ordine iniziale era stato un errore, ma essendo noi stati a mangiarlo dovevamo pagarne il costo. Invece di pagare €10 per ciascun piatto principale, due di noi hanno dovuto pagare €29 ciascuno. Non c'è nulla in questo ristorante per cui sarei disposto a pagare una cifra simile. Non penso che sia stato un errore. Credo sia stata una cosa voluta."

"I have been to you on several occasions and there has not been one time in which I felt welcomed and was treated decently, as I think should be normal in places of this type. Today I went here for a coffee/snack break and, after taking a seat (which was not to be taken for granted because another time they didn't let me sit down to drink a coffee even though the place was empty), a waitress approached, clearly annoyed by our presence that, not even looking at us, asks us for order. After the coffee I decide to have a brownie so I get up and head towards the previously mentioned waitress who, without looking up to listen to me, when I asked what brownies they had, replied in an annoyed tone and with the classic teasing laugh. “Look, they're displayed in the window, go and look at them!”, as if I had asked her for the moon! (among other things, I went to the shop window to look but I wasn't able to understand the difference between those on display). The fact is that the girl couldn't tell me which brownies they had and I had to turn to my colleague, who, I must say, wasn't the most friendly either. I decided to write this review not to argue, also because I am aware that much more serious episodes occur, but simply to try to make these people and, in general, anyone who works in this sector understand that you are not justified in treating customers in a this way (or worse) and that you must always show respect (especially if no one has behaved badly towards you). It may well have been a bad day, you will have your problems and I don't doubt it but, when you decide to work in contact with people, you must be aware that patience and kindness are necessary qualities, unless you want to lose customers. I doubt I will return to this place as I absolutely have no desire to receive similar treatment again or to ruin another day."
