"This is obviously decent food by anyone's standards. But I mostly found it a bit disappointing. The experience was stuffy very very quiet atmosphere sat outside with faintly naff, very obvious jazz music in the background. Food I thought was overpriced for the quality level of creativity. We had had better pasta dishes in alta for a third of the price (to be fair pasta often doesn't translate well to fancier places, but they put it on the menu so I think it's fair game! Generally a bit of a boring vibe, not much fun. On the other hand I thought the sommelier was very good, relaxed and not pretentious in the way she did things, and the wine was excellent and reasonably priced. The other thing (and I promise the criticism above is genuine reflection rather than proxy for this : despite my telling them twice in advance that the meal was to mark a birthday, there was zero recognition. It felt tacky not to greet us with an acknowledgment that it was someone's birthday, when they'd been given the opportunity."
