"Having heard how this was his favourite restaurant in Venice from a well known BBC presenter, I decided to book a dinner for our short visit to La Serenissima. Corte Sconta is set in a beautiful location not far from Arsenale, tucked away in a secluded Calle. An effusive welcome from the owner and we were ushered into the vine covered courtyard. The menu is extensive and the meal started well with a superb (but small serving of spider crab. The mixed fried seafood platter would have been perfect, had it been piping hot, not simply warm. On mentioning this when the (not insubstantial bill arrived all went downhill. I thought the customer was always right! However, the owner obviously thought it was my fault for not starting to eat it as soon as it was placed in front of me which was rubbish. I fear success has gone to his head and he is far too self important. This tourist would not return to Corte Sconta if ever in Venice again."

"I recommend this to Koreans and Japanese people. The food was delicious, there was even a Korean menu, and the young servers gave me a “hello, thumbs up” so I entered in a good mood. They even gave lip service in Japanese to the Japanese people behind us. But that's it. Like other people's reviews, I received the bread I didn't order without even asking. It was 6 euros, and they only brought bread to our table and the Japanese tables around us. He said hello when entering, but when paying at the table, he threw a card and didn't even say hello when leaving after eating. I felt uncomfortable because I felt like I was looking down on Asians with just a few words of lip service."

"My wife and I had a very poor meal at Fuoro tonight. My wife's chicken was not properly cooked and was still **** inside. She sent it back and, to be fair, they swiftly replaced it with a well cooked piece of beef. It wasn't really what she wanted, but she wasn't prepared to risk another portion of chicken. My sea bass was quite tasty, but small and lukewarm. I needed a microscope to see the helping of mashed potato it was supposedly served on. All the food was served very quickly after we ordered so quickly it must have been pre cooked and sitting waiting for an order. We paid up swiftly and left, and went elsewhere for a dessert because I was still hungry."

"Coming by chance as neighbors, we appreciated the very warm welcome from the 2 young waiters, we discovered the Roman artichokes there, and in retrospect, they were the best of the whole week! It was still cool in mid-March to enjoy the terrace in the evening but it is well located outside the passing routes, you can eat there in peace. Note, rather local clientele, which changes from the places referenced in the tourist guides where the atmosphere is rushed very often. Not much dessert besides ice cream but the homemade tiramisu is enough in itself. If I were to go back to Rome, this would be the first place I would eat! "Una visita a questo ristorante è stata deludente. Alcuni membri del personale erano arroganti e sgradevoli, mentre altri erano sorridenti e cordiali. Non consiglio di mangiare i gamberi fritti qui, sia mia figlia che io li abbiamo provati, purtroppo il sapore era molto scadente. Il cameriere ha fatto molte domande riguardo a cosa non ci fosse piaciuto, ho spiegato che a me non sapeva di buono e basta, anche mia figlia ha detto la stessa cosa; non volevo dilungarmi, ho semplicemente restituito il piatto con il cibo. Mia figlia ha mangiato la pasta e le è piaciuta. L'insalata verde era buona, i carciofi erano buoni e il vino era delizioso. Stavamo cercando un posto speciale quella sera perché era il compleanno di mia figlia, purtroppo non siamo riusciti a festeggiare come volevamo, e questo è un po' deludente. A volte chi si considera il migliore tende a sopravvalutarsi; vorrei che si aprissero e cambiassero atteggiamento verso il cliente. Se a mia figlia e a me non piace, non c'è bisogno di insultarci e di spiegarci che non capiamo cosa sia il buon cibo e che forse siamo abituati al cibo scadente; è così che si umilia, non i clienti. Vorrei che non mostrassero arroganza, ma pensassero a cosa possono fare per migliorare. Abbiamo avuto un pasto delizioso in un altro ristorante e abbiamo ricevuto un servizio molto gradevole e caloroso. L'atmosfera di compleanno è stata ripristinata."

"You have to make reservations to come here. But I wouldn't bother. Out of the 4 people ordering only one person got something that was really good. The seafood spaghetti. The Diablo pizza was not spicy at all and the bruschetta was absolutely flavorless. I had to add salt and balsamic vinegar to make it taste like something. And they brought me a cheap spray vinegar. They used some big mealy tomato. Tasted like an old beefsteak. They really should have used a heritage variety for a dish where the tomato was the star. They brought us a little drink at the end of the meal which was a nice touch. But the check had a 12% service charge and they insisted the top was not included. Who was that 12% going to?"

"03/17/2024. Ci siamo fermati per pranzo con un gruppo di 40 persone durante un viaggio a Roma. L'ambiente è tranquillo e il servizio è buono. Non posso giudicare il prezzo perché era incluso nel totale del tour. Il cacio e pepe era davvero buono. Il secondo di carne era altrettanto buono. Volevo provare i carciofi alla giuda, che non erano nel menu concordato, e mi sono sembrati un po' eccessivi, in quanto dovevo pagare 5 euro per uno solo. Davvero troppo. Per il resto, il locale è da raccomandare. "Cercavamo un ristorante per la nostra prima sera a Venezia. Dopo aver visto le recensioni su questo ristorante, siamo stati tentati. Ho scelto i ravioli di melanzane. Il piatto era buono, nulla da dire. D'altra parte, 21€ per 5 ravioli sembravano un antipasto, e trovo davvero un peccato per il prezzo, perché con 21€ di solito mangi un buon piatto. Il cameriere, mentre ci allontanavamo, ci ha detto due volte che "il servizio non è incluso nel conto, sta a noi giudicare". Trovo che in un ristorante di questo livello non sia necessario indicare nulla riguardo alla mancia. Se il cliente è soddisfatto, la lascia, è semplice. Non all’altezza delle aspettative."

"Pleasant place and quite decent and quite good dishes. A little expensive like the salmon starter, very good but in minimal quantity, it's a shame. The first map is in French only. The staff don't really speak French but make an effort and are very nice. We are very bad at foreign languages (coupled with fatigue) and we had difficulty making ourselves understood, particularly for rare meat (blue finish) and water. Indeed, we didn't know it, but in Italy there is no water in the carafe but in bottles. We were afraid the price of bottled water would be prohibitive but it's only 3 euros. The place is pleasant and the menu is short. We can take our time and we are not rushed. Go there, it's a good address."

"A well placed place. The atmosphere is nice. Good quality food and correct portions. For 3 people we ordered an octopus and cod antipasto with polenta. The main courses were Spaghetti with meatballs, seafood soup and black gnocchi with shrimp ragù. Soda, beer and a glass of wine. If I don't rate it with 5 points it is because of the attention of the waitress, it is not at the level of a restaurant with a cost of €50 per person. "For a location in the middle of a town, frequented by many tourists, not only are the prices very reasonable, but the food is excellent. We ate here twice during a four night stay, once with pizza and grilled fish (both excellent), and on the last night, the traditional Tuscan fiorentine, a kilogram of T-bone steak, cooked rare, but as tender as a fillet, shared between my wife and I for the cost of a single steak in the UK. Desserts were pretty good too, and they allow doggies in the restaurant, which is nice for our 4 legged members of the family. Recommended.
