"A warm welcome from a young Polish man, who we took to be the Manager (if he isn't, he should be...! . Boisdale of Bishopsgate is tucked away down an alleyway. The bar, on ground floor level, I found to be a little claustrophobic and quite small (not sure how I would get on in the restaurant, which is underground . We were on a very cheaply priced set lunch menu, which included a glass of prosecco and coffee. Everything was OK, not exceptional, but OK, except for my husband's fish... well, the actual fish itself was perfectly acceptable, but the batter was something else! It was soft, damp and rubbery and my husband picked it up with two fingers from the top and the fish just fell through the bottom of the batter. Yuck! The Manager sympathised and treated my husband to another glass of prosecco (thank you but, to be honest, we would not return."

First time at Boisdales but would highly recommend. Hidden down side alley next to Dirty Dicks, great basement intimate atmosphere. Good excellent. Blues set by Errol Linton superb.

ahhh the T.G.I.F lunch place for their fantastic line caught cod fish chips so fresh, easy and tasty to emphasize that tasty need not be complicated if it is directly from the boisedale chefs with a glass light, dry rosé. a place where you come back.

Despite being the size of a postage stamp, The City appears to have more crammed into its mere square mile than anywhere in London. Moreover, with so many restaurants, bars and coffee shops to choose from, it's generally a case of if I can't trip over an

The service was pleasant and atmosphere intense, dark and comforting. Despite its stiff white-collar waiters and crisp white table cloths this place is incredibly relaxing and a great place for good food, company and music (if you like piano and jazz of course). Netting off the positives and negatives leaves an experience well worth having, and whilst there's clear scope for Boisdale's to bring their offer into the 21st century, it all works when put together; small tables, tartan chairs, and branded crockery gel appropriately in this setting, offering an elegant insight into a more civilised age of steak. This place is not really for a romantic occasion, it's for the connoisseur, and well deserving of its top-of-second-quartile status. Bravo.

My Scottish heritage helps me feel comfortable whenever I walk into Boisdale; warm deep red walls, lots of old prints and a whisky lined bar – the Scottish hunting lodge I never owned! The Bishopsgate branch of Boisdale is down a narrow alley and hidden from the road. But, it’s close enough to Liverpool Street station that even I didn’t get lost! Upstairs at Boisdale of Bishopsgate there’s a friendly bar, but it was downstairs to the cosy restaurant that I was heading. Boisdale specialises in Scottish food which means you can expect great fish and beef so that was the focus of our choice of food for the evening. Having said that, the steak chosen by my dining companion...read more

one of the oldest whiskey bars in london, this is a true hidden gem. if they like their whisky, cigar and jazz, welcome to the sky they have a 58-page bar menu with one of the most extensive whisky and wine lists. what surprised me was eating. I didn't expect me to have brillance. After eating in some Michelin-star restaurants, I can certainly say that the dishes we have eaten here are at least half of them outdated for a mile. the cocktails are also brilliant the jazz gigs they continue to supplement the brillance of eating. for beginners I would recommend the black pudding and ceviche. if they don't like black pudding, please order it somehow. I was pleasantly surprised how...read more

The thing I like about London most is all of the little alleyways that you think would have nothing down them or are just a dead end and when you finally decide to walk down them you find some amazing little bars and restaurants. Well this is exactly how you will find Boisdale of Bishopsgate. So just how did I stumble across this fine establishment? Well I was out with an older gentleman that might have somewhat of a soft spot for me, who told me he was going to take me to his favourite place to drink in and that I would never have known it was there before hand. I had to admit I thought he might be taking to me a dirty bar on Bishopsgate to start with and unfortunately I knew of that...read...

this place was recommended by a friend while I was in london as a good place for steak to go to a reasonable price. at the arrival we decided to eat in the bar area instead of waiting for a table in the restaurant. we needed a few minutes to watch and order the menu when the bar manager came. he took our job and brought us through our drinks. After about 20 minutes we started to hike where our food was, although we were not overly disturbed by the waiting period. 5 minutes later, the bar manager realized that we hadn't been eating our food yet without saying anything. he came by, apologise, gave us a round drink on the house and brought us a few brot to go with while we were waiting. I have...
