Cafe de France - Menu

Good seaside fare, at a packed restaurant with a wide choice of sea food and standard set menus. We should have come back here again but experimented elsewhere

Lunched at the Cafe de France after looking round the wonderful market in Barfleur. Food and service were excellent with delicious plump mussels in the Moule a la Normande.

This was our third visit to Barfleur and it would not be complete without a meal at this cafe! Again we were not disappointed. Service is fast and efficient and the food is delicious! I had Moules Normandie and my husband had a cassoulet aux trios poissos! We shared a creme brûlée to finish! Gorgeous!

Haven't reviewed this place for four years, so an update is in order. Pricing and service still very good, wonderful harbourside location obviously unchanged, food competently cooked as always. (One caveat: don't touch the calamari: fishy-tasting doughnuts. Aaagh). Dish of the day was scallops; they were excellent.

Very nice place. Sat out on terrace again on a very hot day. Food very good and service is friendly. They're open until 3pm for lunch and they don't rush you when you arrive late-ish (we sat down just before 2).We didn't have kids with us but I noticed the very good kids menu for €7.80 for main and pud. It even had moules frites on it.

Moules à la Normandie absolutely delicious. Frites also very nice. Service was very friendly and food arrived almost within minutes. However, do not think that the service is so fast to get rid of you as soon as possible. The sun was out and all tables on the terrace were taken but none of the staff put pressure on anyone to vacate their table. A good place to be and to eat.

We managed to get a table for two on a very busy Saturday evening and what a lovely night we had. The staff were really friendly and efficient, the food was great and there was a fantastic atmosphere in this characterful restaurant which seems to have been run by the same family for many years. I loved the family photos on the menus, there was a real sense of community and teamwork here. If you're in Barfleur, don't bother with the other places, come here! Lovely views over the harbour too.

€3.10 for a small beer and slammed down on the table with a grunt. We asked for the menu and the surly waiter raised his eyebrows like I'd asked him to run around the harbour. As with a lot of front line restaurants that have great footfall they don't give a hoot for customers, its just a numbers game where people are going to visit anyway so no need to bother with being polite, friendly and courteous. And to charge double what a small beer should be is just plain greedy. Horrible place that loses the sunshine so you sit in a cold breeze. DO not bother.

Having got the no51 bus from Cherbourg marina on a previous trip which leaves at BST 0900 (2.5 euros from the bus station at La Gare),we had an early beverage there and were fortunately first in the queue for moules frites. Because people really queue to get in. This time we caught the 12 at 1130 BST, express, still 2.5 euros, but were TOO LATE.The queue was ginormous. These were French people. Barfleur is very, very pretty. The buses are heavily subsidised and the 51 goes along the coast, whereas the express keeps to the industrialised areas,but is faster.
