"I wanted to try this place after reading such rave reviews as I thought I might be missing something special so called in here to give it a go.. I have to say we were warmly welcomed and the staff were lovely and very efficient...indeed as the food arrived pretty quickly after placing our order.. Although the food was nice and everything was fresh it was not the amazing experience I was expecting after reading other glowing reviews, I would also add the coffee was good but the bottled beer was very expensive. The place is also quite small with low ceilings and can get noisy as clearly demonstrated by the irritating gobby guy dressed in overalls that kept coming in talking loudly to the girl behind the counter and you could hear nothing but his big mouth throughout the place and would have been delighted to have shut it for him to get some peace and quite.. I cannot really say anything negative about the quality of the food or the service but it just did not live up to my expectations."

"This restaurant is quite good. The osso bucco is excellent and highly recommended. The tagliata was decent, but not exceptional. Other guests tried the seafood dishes and found them to be just average, so I wouldn’t recommend those. The crème brûlée was served with a delightful touch, as it had a flaming top, which was really impressive! However, the caramel layer on my crème brûlée was a bit too thick, so it wasn't the best I've ever had. The staff was very friendly! I plan to visit again and try some other dishes."

"Met friends for lunch on a Friday. Unfortunately the service really disappointed us. I think it's pretty hit and miss depending on who serves you. My beetroot and goat cheese salad was eventually lovely but had to complain as the beetroot was originally missing from the salad. If you compare it to similar places in the area I think the food is good however the customer service is less impressive."

"The food at this restaurant was excellent, and it had been a long time since my last visit. The quality and standards are still wonderful! I started with the ham hock terrine and had the lasagne for my main course, both were delicious and full of flavor. We were too full to order dessert as we indulged too much. This place is perfect for when you don't feel like cooking on a Sunday, and we will definitely be returning once we've recovered from our food coma. The customer service was provided by a lovely group of young people. Overall, it was a great experience! Thank you, Red Lion Thorpe x."
