Elephant Royale in Gants Hill Essex (opposite Faces) has changed management. New chefs have been brought in and the result is a huge improvement in both service and quality of food.

We thought we booked for Elephant Royal, which we have been going for years, when we arrived we noticed that it has now changed it's name.... Bit of a shock. Must say that it isn't improvement. Old place was looking a bit tired. food is good as usual.

First thing is the restaurant has changed name. It's not called this anymore. It's called kinkao The set menus are good as they allow you to try lots of things. You will likely end up with too much food, but they allow you to takeaway which is good. Food was tasty. Would go again.

We have been regular visitors to elephant royale at docklands for many years and always loved it. Not this time! Since it has changed to kinkao its nowhere near as good. Service was awful. It wasn't even busy and tables were not laid, we were ignored when we arrived, took ages to order, drinks took forever to come and we were brought the wrong food, portions too small and food doesn't taste as good. The service overall was so slow and we heard several people chase up food/ drinks/ to even ask for a menu and to place an order. Sort it out kinkao!
