"Since this was during the 2nd week of the Fringe Festival, we were very grateful to find a quiet, pleasant and bookable place to meet 4 friends for dinner. The staff was attentive, patient and courteous, we did not feel in anyway the restaurant closed around 10.30 we arrived 8.45 and stayed only at 10.15 because we all had events to get, but not the feeling we had been "pushed" at 10.30! The menu was quite varied, the food tasty, the portions exactly right and definitely not too expensive. The only proposal would be ice cups for the wine. 2 Diners had a rose and 2 had prosecco and it would have been nice if they had stayed cold, but ice for the rose...... hesitate to go back there or recommend as a little quieter and less frenetic than some other restaurants if that's what you are looking for."

Super service. Shame about the menu they no longer do the extensive speciality/menu as shown on Opentsble. It's mainly just pizza or pasta.

Staff at the hotel were not aware of the restaurant at their own hotel! The staff at the restaurant was not helpful or hospitable. The menu had changed completely from the online version so we didn't even stay as they didn't serve Steak...

The hotel staff appeared to be unaware of the restaurant within their own establishment. Unfortunately, the restaurant staff themselves were not helpful or welcoming either. Additionally, the menu had deviated significantly from the online version, leading to our decision to leave as they were not serving steak.

The restaurant did not honor my reservation and claimed they no longer accept bookings through Opentable. The majority of diners seemed to be hotel guests, creating a slightly judgmental atmosphere for outside visitors. It is located downstairs inside an Ibis hotel. I would suggest other dining options in the area, such as a noodle place that we ended up trying and enjoying, or a burrito place down the road, as a last resort choice for dining here.

You did not acknowledge my booking. You need to be removed Apparently, as they said, they no longer take bookings from there. Most people who eat there are staying at the hotel, making it feel like you are judged by simply entering the restaurant. Also it is actually inside (below) an ibis. I would only go here as a last resort if it's too busy to go elsewhere, but it would be better to go to the noodle place (we landed here and it was really good and relatively fast) or Burrito place on the street.

During the second week of the Fringe Festival, we were thankful to discover a peaceful and reserved restaurant to enjoy dinner with 4 friends. The staff were attentive, patient, and accommodating, allowing us to relax without feeling rushed. Although the restaurant closed at 10:30, we did not feel pressured to leave right at that time. The menu offered a variety of tasty options at reasonable prices, with just the right portion sizes. The only suggestion would be to have ice buckets available for wine to keep them chilled. Overall, we had a great experience and would not hesitate to return or recommend this restaurant to others seeking a quieter and less hectic dining experience.

"new kapitel has caught my attention after I was on top ten on trip advisor only months after the opening in the oktober last year. that and the fact that it is open for my early january birthday, made it the perfect place to celebrate to become a little older. I was with the man and his family. the man is quite used to my taste and good to the kind of kitchen that would appeal to me for a special occasion; his family not so much and I was filled with shame as his mother scornful went through the menu trying to find something she would enjoy. I've eaten with the family of the man, and I know they enjoy eating, so I think it's a failure of the menu that it is not accessible. the benming always blooming and garnish can appeal to some, but for others it is overcomplicated and it is necessary to find a balance between the two. we start with the starters and I go for venison sour wort pithvier. the venison was underheated and incredibly dry, to the happiness the sourded a little moisturizing and so saved the whole dish, but the aromen were quite not clear, except the garnitur of plastered mushrooms I thoroughly enjoyed. for the largest part we chose a fish dish for our main,- sea trout, smoked muddles, petersilien and coast herbs. where the starter fell, the main recording is getting back. the dish is rich and creamy, and each element adds the complexity of the taste as a whole, without disturbing. the concept is now an old one, and it would be deceptive if it had not worked, as it would essentially pay with this place. I enjoyed my meal in new chapter, although I do not agree with it is stellar status under the hierarchy of edinburgh eateries. it is top ten position is just a flash in the pan of hot popularity, and in time it will be plated in the upper half of the middle stage where it belongs. and that is where it belongs, the dishes can be plated with a michelin star in understood, and the venue and the supporting media has the clean lines and empty slate look of fine but eat the team has a long gone to go if that is their real aim. at the end, although it was a beautiful meal, and cheap (at the moment I would not be surprised to see their prices slowly rise) and the man’s mother found something they enjoyed and that is the most important."
