"stay here for two nights during the visit of the family in the opposite beautiful old, jagged pub (think low ceilings, open fires and comfortable chairs). our room was in the caves in the rebuilt barn building over the parking lot and had steep stairs to him so check them with the staff if they think they could not be in the position to manage them, there are other rooms in the ground floor. our room was really nice, a double room in white and gray with a bright scree and kisses that a bright airy feeling. large bathroom shower room provided with care products, but watch her head when she uses the loo in this room, as the man his head a few times because of the low deck no damage to head or wall, but it made him jump 'until he got used to it. tea and coffee accessories with (yippee) a small refrigerator with fresh milk in it no uht pods here. also cookies are available. beautiful full English breakfast both morning with very good quality sausage and smoked speck and personal were attentive, friendly and polite and had no problem with the desire of my mannes for a smaller cooked breakfast. in the breakfast menu there is any quantity choice if not a complete English for it. four of us ate here on Monday night and although we warn, it was a limited menu (this was the week before Christmas, so not sure whether this was only for this time or if this is customary for a Monday night as they had a deal on two nets for the price of one) there was still enough choice for everyone. absolutely tasty duck for one of us, cake for the other three and charge freshly cooked vegetables. managed a scrumptious dessert and went into bed filled. we will book here again safely if we are on this way in the not too far future."

"The weather this St David's Day almost made us cancel our lunch booking but I had wanted to visit Le Manoir for so many years that we braved the conditions and celebrated my birthday in style. The experience was as wonderful as I had hoped. The cooking was magical and the front of house service impeccable. Staff were able to combine seamless efficiency with a friendly and very comfortable atmosphere. Not a simple thing to achieve! On arrival, the car was taken away to be parked and we were shown into the cosy and elegant sitting room. With a welcoming fire, it was a great place to begin. Some tasty morsels to whet our appetite arrived with a fine glass of champagne and then into the original small dining room for the main event. Many people had cancelled because of the snow so the larger dining room was not needed. When I was shown around later, I was glad we had been such a small group because this original space had great charm and made our lunch seem more personal and intimate. As the very good lunch progressed it was nice to see the attention to detail in everything, not just the food. Often, restaurant staff stand over you explaining the food in forensic detail and then ask you over and over again how everything is, leaving little opportunity for you to enjoy the food in peace or even talk to the people you are having lunch with. At Le Manoir the printed lunch menu details what you will be eating and offers you the choice to request further explanation if you want it. Service throughout the meal was thoughtful, friendly but not intrusive. We were so relaxed, we were able to enjoy everything very much. It is difficult to single anything out but special mention must be made of the bacon flavoured rolls, the cured sea trout and the melting Jacobs Ladder beef course. The truffled hen's egg too, was a thing of beauty. The kitchen is indeed a place of great skill. I can't comment on the wines this time, although everyone around us appreciated the advice given on their choices. My husband Frank was driving so had no wine apart from the champagne on arrival, and I don't drink alcohol very often. I do like the taste of some of the modern craft gins that are available now though, and as it was my birthday, I asked for one that would suit all of the courses we were having. The Cotswolds gin that was recommended was absolutely perfect and with the tonic, lasted the entire time. Although a tasting menu, we were quite full by this time and didn't take the cheese course but were able to watch and listen while the cheeses on offer were explained to others. There was something to suit everyone and it all looked so interesting we might have changed our minds if we had had the space. Next time! Coffee and petit-fours back in the sitting room was the perfect finish. The little frozen stick of mango in white chocolate was my particular favourite. Back in our car, having negotiated the ice rink that Great Milton village had become, we made our way home thinking of a date we could go back and stay properly. It would be an added bonus to stay at the hotel and be able to walk in the gardens on a fine evening after such a meal. Thank you to all involved for a great experience."
