"Schwenkbraten oder Spießbraten sind die Spezialitäten des Hauses. Gut bürgerlich ist die Küche, die vor allem mit ihrer Spezialität, über Buchenholzfeuer gebraten überzeugt. Aber auch der Kartoffelkuchen mit Lachs ist nicht zu vernachlässigen. Geschwärmt wurde ferner von der gebratenen Blutwurst mit Bratkartoffeln. Der Wirt ist von altem Schlag, ironisch - ruppig, aber herzlich. Die Einrichtung ist gemütlich rustikal. Erst am Schluss unseres Besuchs erfuhren wir, dass wir im ältesten Fachwerkhaus an der Nahe waren, ein Gemäuer aus dem Jahre 1392 - aber weitgehend renoviert... Durchgehend warme Küche! Wir kommen gerne wieder."

"We were fortunate enough to have shared our first experience with a nice couple with ties to Greece; so they took the liberty to order a wonderful variety of authentic, greek dishes, each more flavorful than the last. The staff were very friendly and attentive....Without having seen the menu, I cannot say for certain, but the Restaurant Poseidon does in no way, resemble so many of the other, ethnic restaurants in Germany, with their pseudoGermanish cuisine and decor; the Poseidon felt authentic from the core. We will definitely return with friends and family. The place is very big and has a large terrace for the warmer months. Be sure to book a reservation far in advance, as this place is popular"

"The restaurant located at the small Idar-Oberstein Flugplatz was recommended by the owner of a Bed & Breakfast we stayed at this year while traveling through Europe. We ate at this restaurant on this trip and a prior trip in 2006. We were searching for a place that served the local favorite "spiessbraten". Spiessbraten is beef or pork with a special marinade and grilled over a open beechwood fire. The spiessbraten was grilled in front of us and the atmosphere and the food was great. The restaurant is off the beaten path, and all of the customers were locals, with virtually no one speaking english. The owners made us feel welcome, did their best to help us order, and we enjoyed the meals greatly. If we ever return to this area of Germany, we will be sure to stop and enjoy spiessbraten again."

"Well, if you have tried chinese food in good places in big city centres or anywhere near China, this place will be a disappointment for you.I took the crispy duck with vegetables and rice, and they were served in two dishes, the first one being a plate with rice (which was all tight together due to poor cooking) snd the second one being a bowl with a candle underneath for heating. It contained vegetsbles floating in an unknown vinegar-like liquid and the duck on top. The main problem was the liquid, as it was supposed to be a sauce (which it was actually not)."

"Mit Abstand das beste Restaurant im Umkreis. Sehr leckere und großzügige Portionen, freundlicher und schneller Service bei gemütlichem Altstadt-Ambiente. Die Preise sind für die Menge an Essen in Ordnung.Einen Stern Abzug gibt es für die kleinen Streitigkeiten im Team, die man nicht unbedingt vor der Kundschaft führen muss. Bei der Menge an Gästen, die Auf Grund des Feiertages anströmten aber durchaus verständlich, dass die Mitarbeiter unter Druck stehen. Wir freuen uns auf ein Wiedersehen."
