"This was the best meal I have had anywhere in the past two years. Dinner, the creation of master chef Jacques Chibois, was quite superb, a wonderful combination of textures and flavours, beautifully presented and with immaculate service, save a struggle for water to be served. We avoided the tasting menus and chose a three-course a-la-carte. The starter was Fraicheur de Thon, elegant cubes of tuna toped with caviar and accompanied by a small vegetable minestrone. For the main course, my guest chose fish, St Pierre. I chose Dos de Veau. Both were exquisite. Wine can be ordered by the glass and we had excellent advice from the sommelier: St Aubin with the fish and Gevrey Chambertin with the veal. The dessert was elegant perfection, a Soupe de Fraises with tapioca pearls in a light lemon bergamot and accompanied by a miniature strawberry tart. At €220 a head including two glasses of champagne and service, it is not cheap, but if you compare the price with, say, opera seats at the Met in New York or Covent Garden in London, it is fair value for those whose wallets can stretch, for an evening of high culinary artistry. This was my third visit over the past ten years and the restaurant goes from strength to strength. Highly recommended."

our 3rd visit to this beautiful restaurant which holds fond memories from almost 10 years ago when we ate an amazing meal here. the 2nd time was disappointing and the bland food was over salty. this our 3rd visit with 5 friends confirmed that this is no longer the address it once was. Food was very average, nicely presented but bland. All 7 of us agreed that we had eaten much better elsewhere. such a shame as the place is really lovely and the staff were fantastic.

Visualizza piatti

La Bastide Saint Antoine was always one of our favourite restaurants - food is still excellent but something has happened to the service. No longer is the service slick and precise, for 2 stars you expect excellence and what we got was just good. Starters mixed up, sparkling water poured in glasses that had still water (on 3 separate occasions) and plates brought for the petit fours after we had eaten them. Glasses left on the table from the appetisers, being asked which main course we were having when the cutlery was being replenished. None of them major errors but just something we have never experienced here before.Hope things improve for our return visit in September - always give a seco...

"My wife and I ate at this 1* Michelin restaurant on the edge of Grasse in Maganos last night, and it is by far the best new discovery in the Côte d’Azur we have come across this summer. The restaurant is family owned and operated, featuring Sébastien Giraud as the head chef and his wife Madame Giraud as the maître d’. The location offers a beautiful view down through the valley of Grasse, and it is relatively quiet even though it is on a main artery into Grasse from the east. There are only 15 or so covers, and this – in my opinion – is a benefit to patrons both in terms of quality of food and service. The food was absolutely excellent. It is not fussy per se, but features local seasonal ingredients, which is obvious from the first dish. It is creative as well, but not in a way that gets in the way of the taste of the food. On offer is either a 3- or 4-course dinner, at prices of €39 and €55. For quality of the experience, this is outstanding value. Wines are readily available by the bottle or glass, with the latter offerings well-matched with the food and not “over-the-top” expensive. I had fresh tomato and crabmeat starter, followed by the turbot, then a smoked chicken in a lovely broth, and a marvellous finisher, opting for cheese rather than desert. The cheese was special, in that it was a creamy and rather light cheese mousse with summer truffles. All dishes are modest in size and prepared with seasonal (and locally-sourced) ingredients, garnished in a way that makes the flavours come to life. Nothing about the food was disappointing! The service was also excellent, with Mdm Giraud assisted by her very capable son in serving diners. Both French and English are spoken. There is no air at all about this place, which is casual and inviting. With outstanding food, excellent service, a pleasant ambience, and good value, Au Fil du Temp is one of the best finds in this region I have come across in some time, and I highly recommend it."
