"This is one of the best meals we ever had. I had squid to start, then followed by cod and then came the dessert my god what a dessert, 7 different types of pudding, all thought through ie sweet puddings with pots of stewed fruit, so as to taste all textures and flavours not too sweet and with some tartness. All beautifully presented. I also loved the surroundings, very understated. But I was truly in awe of the staff, just one cook and one waiter (perhaps there was a pot cleaner behind the scenes, but could not see one). And just these people managed the whole of the restaurant calmly, no dramatic histrionics a la Gordon R, just very professional and efficient. If you are going to Bayonne do not miss this jewel."

As the name suggests, the emphasis is on meats grilled on the rotisserie; done simply but done well (there are other options). The setting is (still) 'colourful rustic ' and the service genuine and friendly.

We went for family'lunch and what a lunch! Simple menu with lot of taste... Foie gras and chippiron were delicious, specially the foie gras. Main course with lamb and beef particularly well fine cooked. For the dessert, just look at my picture, no comment! I will come back to the place because of perfect service at affordable price.

I had Sunday lunch here and couldn’t fault it. 45 euros for three generous courses and aperitif plus reasonably priced wine. Thought had gone in to the menu so there were dishes out of the commercial ordinary e.g. pigeon with sage. It’s in a side street of old buildings and the outside tables have a charming view down to the river and cathedral. Very pleasant patron.
