La Voile Marseillaise

great outdoor location with views of the old harbour and the bustle. maul cubes with Rocquefort frits were hot and tasteful. service was very polite and I didn't feel rushed.

We had the soup de Poisson and mixed platter. The was ok to good, but the restaurant is chaotic and service very slow. We were offered an English menu, (hate that), and told how to eat our food.

What can I say. Children were hungry and it was the first place on the way. Made the mistake to assume that any restaurant in Marseille would be at least decent. Not the case. Some stuff was inedible, service was slow and it was not...cheap. The bathroom was disgusting, a friend commented it looked like a Tarantino movie.

I am so happy to go here because they have made mush in pasta, one of my favorite dishes. when I'm snuking in pasta, I'd be amazed. we almost got up and went after minutes, and I wish we had it. Bad food, bad service and high prices for what it was. it must be hundreds of restaurants in marseille, and I think that all put more efforts in quality and service than this. avoid them at all costs!

This restaurant features dining on the sidewalk and a limited menu. The beef dish was just ground beef and not a steak. The salmon was good. The salad and deserts were below average. This place survives on its location, and not by service of outstanding or excellent food. It is difficult to make a decision of what restaurant to select among so many choices in this area. We wish we had gone elsewhere.

Very average food and terrible service. After paying the bill, my husband and I remained seated, as we expected our change. We made that clear. However, the waitress and (?) owner/manager ignored us completely. Obviously, they intended to keep the change, which was quite a lot. The two kept ignoring us, until my husband raised his voice... This is one of the common scams to cheat money out of tourists!

We decided to stop along one of the many waterfront restaurants for lunch. We chose La Voile as they seemed to be mostly seafood. We were quickly seated right at the side walk which was lovely watching the world pass by.The restaurant was fairly busy and there was only one waitress serving everyone so it took a while before we got our menus. We decided on the plat and dessert but waited close to an hour before we got our lunch. The food was hot and delicious as was the dessert but two hours was too long for a meal. If you have time, the food was worth it but if you're in a rush, this is not the place.

I wish I had read the reviews before I settled in this restaurant! I came in marseille and had no reservation for Saturday night, that was one of the few places with free tables (it obviously gave a reason for it. the waitress was. very nice, spoken English, took my order immediately and the food arrived immediately. however: the weeping was as edgy and my eating was disgusting. I'm pretty sure it was all frozen things. it should be a mixed seafood plate, but what I got was half a plate of fryed and some unrecognizable, inedible roasted nastiness. although I was very hungry, I left everything and asked for the bill. the waitress asked me “what happened?!” and when I told her she didn’t look...

Had to try the bouillabaisse for which Marseilles is known. Not a big fan of fish soup as I find the fish is usually overcooked and dry. Not so here. The fish was tender and cooked well and the broth was oh so flavor-filled. I was given a lesson on how to consume this wonderful dish by the host. First, a piece of toasted French bread is placed on a spoon and dipped into the broth. Then homemade mayonnaise and a type of fish paste is placed on the bread and topped with grated cheese (mozzarella?). Then the entire concoction is dipped once again in the broth and voila! Put the entire thing in your mouth and pure heaven results. The best meal I had the entire week in Europe, and that says a lot...
