La Voile Marseillaise

We had the soup de Poisson and mixed platter. The was ok to good, but the restaurant is chaotic and service very slow. We were offered an English menu, (hate that), and told how to eat our food.

What can I say. Children were hungry and it was the first place on the way. Made the mistake to assume that any restaurant in Marseille would be at least decent. Not the case. Some stuff was inedible, service was slow and it was not...cheap. The bathroom was disgusting, a friend commented it looked like a Tarantino movie.

I am so happy to go here because they have made mush in pasta, one of my favorite dishes. when I'm snuking in pasta, I'd be amazed. we almost got up and went after minutes, and I wish we had it. Bad food, bad service and high prices for what it was. it must be hundreds of restaurants in marseille, and I think that all put more efforts in quality and service than this. avoid them at all costs! we waited very long for our meal. we also have not got our drinks or water. the waiter joked with local customers around, told sweat and laughed loud. he has not given us or other countries any attention. when we called him in French, he asked us to wait minutes and disappeared more than finally, we were served after an hour-wait. no excuse. stay away from this restaurant. the service is really bad.

A rough menu and not a lot of love in the food. Really good service from a young woman with good follow through from a young man. Fish less than ordinary. Sardines? Ok. Large but not well cleaned. The seafood platter was thrown together...and poorly cooked. The pot of mussels was delicious! The white wine and onions they were cooked in divine! Crime caramel bit eggy, chocolate mousse over refridgerated but the berry sorbet and vanilla soft serve was great!

Two main dishs were ordered. Steak which was ok. And mixed plate with octopus, shrimp not clean, with shell and black vain on back, squid, sardine full with guts, mussles- not clean as well, with terrible stuff inside them. The food was...disgusting I left hungry. Also the way the bathroom was looking. Oh my, it was like from a horror movie. No tap water to clean hands, wet floor everywhere, smell like a thousand toilets, dirty inside. Thw whole space was super miserabe. I wish I had read the reviews before I settled in this restaurant! I came in marseille and had no reservation for Saturday night, that was one of the few places with free tables (it obviously gave a reason for it. the waitress was. very nice, spoken English, took my order immediately and the food arrived immediately. however: the weeping was as edgy and my eating was disgusting. I'm pretty sure it was all frozen things. it should be a mixed seafood plate, but what I got was half a plate of fryed and some unrecognizable, inedible roasted nastiness. although I was very hungry, I left everything and asked for the bill. the waitress asked me “what happened?!” and when I told her she didn’t look...

To give some context I was born in this city, now living between the US and the UK, so I have an idea of catering services' standards. We arrived at the place and were given a table fairly quickly. We then ran into many issues,...which I'll list below: We waited at least minutes before someone came to take our orders. We asked for a kid's menu or the possibility to get a portion for a two years old toddler and were rudely forced (as no other option) to take an adult mains, at euros. We then waited at least another minutes before receiving our drinks. My Coca Cola arrived, and as I had the first sip, i realised it had some greasy white sauce in the glass. it was only Mayonnaise, but it seemed...

During a long holiday in Marseilles we decided to try a number of restaurants, and eventually stumbled upon La Voile Marseillaise. Now as many reviews echo here, the service is a little lacking. I found that they are a family run restaurant, and during downtime...they sit around the corner at a table drinking wine and having fun. Which is endearing and cute, but they make too little effort to keep an eye out of incoming customers (maybe they just need cctv and a screen near their table, or a motion detecting doorbell or something) but once you do get their attention they all scramble, rushing around trying to make sure you are seated and happy.
