"Langan 's Brasserie is something of a London restaurant legend. Now coming up on its 36th year, it opened as a partnership between Irish entrepreneur Peter Langan and the actor Michael Caine which was enough in itself to draw in the celebrity crowd and Langan 's was one of the places to eat in the eighties. Langan is now dead and Michael Caine sold up, but Langan 's continues on unabashed, its website still claiming that it 'remains one of London 's top eateries to be seen in for Celebrities, business people and Joe public alike '. The ambiance is great with the place buzzing even mid-week and the service very friendly makes it a relaxing evening. Great food and even the carafes of house white take some beating. Its a little expensive but with this location that must unfortunately be expected. Top place for us to celebrate a special occasion.

1st night in London. Wife an I arrived late Sat evening, 8pm whoa. #1 they were open, hotel restaurant wasn't, I found this amazing. #2 Langan's had a reasonable menu, I personally like to try the local fair. My wife had Seabass and I had Steak Hache. Both were acceptable esp. as late as it.... The Lemon Menigue was quite nice. I recommend.....quite nicely! BTW we're NY'ers.

Langan's is an elegant London restaurant with a really nice atmosphere but a menu that I wouldn't travel far for. Overall, coming to Langan's is a nice experience. The restaurant is elegant and the service is really great. They've called themselves a brasserie; however, I thought that the menu was more British than typical brasserie food. Although the food was made quite well, I felt that the menu was really not extensive and we had very few choices, all of which we're quite similar.

time travel. Friday afternoon and I should have booked a table tonight. I quickly discover that there is no chance to get to the Ivy/Wolseley/Sheekeys/Scots etc., unless we want to eat six or ten thirty. I'm flying for inspiration. I know longans. it was london's glamorous most restorative in the 70s and early 80s, and I think someone said they were there a few years ago and it made a comeback or something. as soon as they are in the door, it brings back the smell of an ozean of frying butter a quarter of a century. the (very efficient) waiting staff has a average age of 60ish, which...read more

visit the long brasserie, Saturday, 14 november 2009. we were in the long 's brasserie about 20 times in the last 10-12 years and always had great meals and good service. but our visit on Saturday, the 14th november was very disappointing. we went to the restaurant at 16.00 a.m. the starters were average, overpriced, but only about acceptable. but the main meal was terrible. our first choice for the main meal was not available, we were told that they can only order later in the evening, not sure why? So we both went with our second choice, which was the roast beef, we think of the remembrance of what was under the Saturday special . it was £19 per head and it consisted of...read more

Langan’s Brasserie opened in 1976, with long-time head chef Richard Shepherd from 1977. Peter Langan, a notorious alcoholic, died in 1988, and Richard Shepherd stepped down in 2012, but Langan's sails on, with Liam Smith-Laing, who formerly worked at Petrus and La Petit Maison, now behind the stoves. Most of the famous Langan art collection was sold at auction in late 2012, though some still remains to grace the walls of the restaurant (more can be seen at sister restaurant Odin’s). The menu is fairly traditional, with starters priced between £7 and £11.50, main courses £15 to £26, vegetable dishes at £3.50 and desserts £6 to £8.50. The dining room is vast, seating 190 diners...read more

Langan Brasserie, Stratton Street – From the outside of the restaurant, Langan's Brasserie says big business. Every window pane has Langan name with illuminated red fluorescent lights. Pushing through the solid entrance door, is a semi-hemisphere enclosure draped with thick velvet curtain. Presence of a cloak room, slightly chaotic in a charming way and, and, and..... there were more than one maitre d', wow, I like the style! Stepping inside Langan's is like a transformation from the pandemonium on Piccadilly Street. In Langan's the low yellow lighting, interior decoration and uniformed waiters take me to the London style I used to watch on television. It feels like stepping into the...read...

Langan’s Brasserie surprised me. I did not expect it to be as good as it was. For a long long time I had no interest in going there, as it looked like it had been there for many years and I thought it was one of these restaurants living on formal glory and not actually being any good. Also it does not look that attractive from the outside and one of my lunch buddies Felipe said he thought it was similar to something like Garfunkels with the bright red sign outside. Langan’s Brasserie is indeed very old. It is located in Mayfair, just by Green Park station and was first opened in 1976 by Peter Langan and has hosted celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor, Mick Jagger, Mohammed Ali and more....read...
