"My wife and I have been travelling in southern France for two weeks and have eaten in bouchons, brasseries, and nicer restaurants. My wife is not a huge fan of organ meat or pork/ham which is very limiting for menu choices in this part of the country. I enjoy sampling everything. Quite often when we have been out for dinner it has been very difficult to find something on the menu that my wife would enjoy. I have found lots of tasty and interesting food but I had yet to find service that I thought was acceptable. La Charpenterie in Talloires was an awesome combination of both! We had been hiking for two hours and were famished. When we got back to town, the menu in front of La Charpenterie caught my wife's eye. She was ecstatic already. All the menu choices had English translations and included a variety of beef and fish dishes.The proof was definitely in the pudding. Or in our case, in the burger and the local pink trout. The presentation of both of these simple dishes was outstanding. A match for any of the "fine dining" establishments we had eaten at previously. The homemade burger was served with a slathering of local cheese, tomatoes, peppers and onion. The trout was equally mouth watering. While the decor was simple pine, accented with historic photographs of the region, the tables were beautifully decorated and the views of Lac Annecy and the surrounding mountains were to die for.Finally, our service was easily the best we had experienced in France. Both of the serving staff were friendly, attentive and efficient throughout the meal. They were very tolerant of our grade school French and helped us with our translations to ensure understanding. All with a friendly smile! The entire dining experience was superb!"

We ate at the hotel each day. Go for the more interesting main courses. The Moroccan Lamb dish was outstanding a delight to the taste buds.

The quality of the food was excellent and the presentation could not be faulted. If the weather is good you can sit on the terrace and watch the clouds moving across the mountains.

Enjoyed our meal here. Quite a varied menu. One of the few restaurants we have eaten at to provide an ice bucket for our wine ... this was great as it was a 32 degree day. Complimentary liqueur at end of meal was appreciated!

We almost didn't eat here because the reviews weren't great or many. We are happy to try. We sat outside on a nice warm evening and that was tailored by the service we received. The menu and prices are similar to other places nearby... and the place itself is beautiful. I had the local ‘Mac and Cheese’, which was much more beautiful than it sounds. Although there are not many reviews, this place is good and worth a visit.

Dinner last night was fantastic! They catered for our 5 year old so kindly and so easily.. He had a choice of fish or beef and a choice of fries, veggies, rice or pasta. Our meals were delicious.. We shared the Tapas then had the...Indian spiced chicken and lamb Marrakech. There was ample fresh bread, and sides. Service was faultless. Menu has an English translation for us non-French speaking folk and our lovely waitress spoke English also. Highly recommended.

We chose this restaurant out of the many in Talloires for the menu. I really fancied a burger and it didn't disappoint! We stated with the shared tapas which was really nice and plenty for 2 people. For the main i had the burger (yum) and my husband had Morracan lamb. The meat in both dishes was cooked really well. For dessert i had 'swiss dream' which was essentially an eton mess with ice cream, and my husband had blueberry tarte.The restaurant itself was a bit old fashioned - the decor.
