"It's a shame that I now have to respond to your reply to Sueli Carr's review, but as you have implicated me, and described the situation in an incomplete and therefore factually incorrect manner, I feel I have no other choice. Without doubt, the food arrived lukewarm and only a few minutes after ordering. Maybe the food was fresh when it was cooked, but if it was delivered to the table immediately after cooking, then it would have been piping hot. There are therefore two possibilities, either the food was cooked and then left waiting for a period of time or else it was cooked earlier and quickly reheated for evening service. It doesn't matter which, the food was served lukewarm and immediately rejected by Miss Carr. She knows more about restaurant food than me as she has worked in a restaurant as part of her job history. My only experience of reheated food was a few years ago that resulted in a severe stomach upset and, something I therefore did not want to repeat. I admit I had taken a few mouthfuls of my dish, but decided to end it there, in view of all the foregoing. I did approach you to discuss the problem, explaining that the food was lukewarm and delivered too quickly to have been freshly cooked immediately prior to being served to us. You immediately grabbed my arm and effectively dragged me through the restaurant to where the cook prepared the meals. Miss Carr never visited the kitchen as you claim. I explained my complaint to him in French as best I could (my French is old and my vocabulary now limited, but I can usually describe well enough even if I don't know all the words needed), and you then came back with a torrent of French, which genuinely I could not understand what you were saying. This is when you accused me of suddenly failing to understand you when I could before. The reason is as I have said here. I need words to be simple and spoken slowly. I am sure you would find this to be an issue too, if someone spoke very fast to you in English. I wanted to move on and come to a solution. You asked me what I wanted to pay. I proposed 20 euros, to cover the wine and for a gesture towards the few mouthfuls I had taken. You rejected this outright threatening to call the police. This would have been a ridiculous way to deal with this problem, so I asked you what you would be prepared to offer as a solution, and you proposed only to remove payment for Miss Carr's meal. Please do not think that I considered this a satisfactory solution. I just took the view that arguing with you was impossible, so agreed to pay the 39.90 euros you demanded. This closed the matter as far as I was concerned. I had made other observations but, as a result of settling, these were not discussed or brought to your attention. I feel I should now inform you of these. First, when the cook showed me two drawers which he advised contained fresh seafood, I did see that the prawns were already pink. They would only be this colour if already cooked, as raw prawns are semi-transparent grey. Second. I believe I was in the kitchen area probably 5 minutes yet when I arrived, and while I was there, not a single order was passed for cooking. This seemed odd when the restaurant had several tables occupied. Whatever response, if any, you want to make to these two comments, I would strongly recommend that you reflect on the way you respond to customers who have genuine complaints. The responses I have seen on other criticisms posted here do little to present you as caring about your customers. A rating of 3.5 is not good, and the way you reply to criticisms smacks of arrogance. You are missing opportunities to be seen as a welcoming and sympathetic host. This can only adversely affect your restaurant's popularity. The solution is in your hands and no one else's."
