"Just a short walk from Denfert-Rocherau station lies rue Ernest Cresson, and at no 3 is "Le Mauritius" which is probably my favourite Mauritian restaurant south of the river. It's clean and smart, with rather more tasteful decor than usual, and the food is very good ("cuisine raffinée" it says on their card). I enjoyed a coco punch, a dish of mixed beignets, samosas, accra de morue, and so forth, followed by rougaille de poisson, rice and the obligatory beans, with a bottle of Phénix beer. The rougaille was very freshly made : you could taste the tomato and coriander, and the fish -- whatever it was -- was fresh too. I cleaned the plate so fast my charming waitress asked if I'd like some more rice, though sadly no more fish was on offer. Apart from some rather over ripe fresh mango, the choice of desserts was a bit limited, with only canned fruit, and the usual sorts of ice cream, but Mauritian cuisine is not known for its puddings. And this is one of those places which has a nice habit of offering you a glass of rhum arrangé on the house to compensate for the bill when it comes, though at only 25 euro for a 3 course menu this was entirely reasonable. I got there quite early on a Friday night, but by the time I left, around 9 pm, it was full of people, mostly local by the looks of things. I am amazed this place is not better known ... but let's keep it between ourselves for now, shall we?"

Relaxing restaurant with a good franquette. This is a good value for money and the staff is very nice! We're having a good time. I advise you to take the bananas torn in dessert, a real treat!!!

If you're looking to take a break from French cuisine while in Paris, this is a strong option. The food represents to me an exciting marriage of Indian, French, African and coastal cuisine with an emphasis on curries and seafood. Both the starters and the mains were good (a solid 4/5) with a nice kick to the curries.Service wasn't great: waiter banged dishes against my head when clearing and then forgot to bring some utensils with the food. But the food is what's most important and more than made up for it!So yes - go for it!

Don't bother reserving at this restaurant. We reserved twice and both times there was no table for us at the alloted time. They take your reservation and then couldn't be bothered. They nonchalantly told us to maybe come back in an hour and a half! There was only one waitress for 60 diners and we had time to notice that people were becoming very impatient for service. The only way you can eat here is to arrive 10 minutes before opening, at 11:50 am or 6:50 pm and try your luck.We were lucky and managed to find a table at the nextdoor Soura Korean restaurant, which is excellent. We live in the area, but imagine crossing all of Paris for your reservation only to discover that they were pulling...

Take the 4 line Metro to the Mouton Duvernet station and walk north one short block. Turn the corner and one half block down the street you arrive at this gem of a restaurant. It will probably be packed. It usually is. There will be no tourists. There hardly ever are. The menu is filled with dishes that cross over from Indian to Creole with some Mauritian uniqueness thrown in. Try the Mauritian assiette for an entree. You will get about seven different items, such as squid, eggplant and shrimp beignets, samosas, and a fish item, all will be lightly friend. My wife raves about the octopus salad. There is a wide variety of plats, fish, beef, shrimp, chicken and lamb curry or biryani. A particu...
