"This Indian restaurant opened three months ago in my second home of Beaulieu-sur-Mer. What an asset this place is for me; a curry-head used to the English model and to date very disappointed by the alternatives available anywhere on the Cote d'Azur.I've just returned to the UK after 12 days in BSM and going through my receipts, I've realised I ate there five times. Detox/diet beckons. The place itself is rudimentary. Plastic tables and chairs, with a paper tablecloth. But sitting outside at sunset amongst the little fishing boats and 'cheap' yachts beats the pants off the totally over-rated and over-priced ego-establishments on the main port 'strip' in my opinion. (I've done them all and chosen never to return to any of them... and I live there for six months a year). For those lacking in the French language department, everything is in English, and the (Sri Lankan owners/staff) I believe are happier conversing in Anglo rather Gallic...The food is excellent (and the portions not overwhelming) and the side orders are appropriately priced. You're not taken for a ride with the price of drinks, and you can just turn up in whatever makes you comfortable and not expect any sneering looks of disapproval from your fellow diners. It is apparent it has become very popular with the local expat community, plus the yachties on the adjacent floating gin palaces. Dinner this past Saturday night for three came to €47.50 for three mains, pilau rice, a couple of sides and five non-alcoholic drinks. That represents ridiculously good value for money in this part of the world. Parking is free and right next to the place, and at the other end of the port 'strip' there's a great ice cream place that stays open til late which I also thoroughly recommend if you don't do Kulfi and pineapple! The only thing that lets this place down is the somewhat haphazard service. You could find your dining companions being served five minutes before you, any drinks ordered simultaneously will almost certainly arrive in a staggered fashion, and you might wait 20 minutes to get the bill at the end of the evening, and wait another 10 to get to pay it...But heck, small price to pay for a seriously good curry should you just fancy chilling out in what is probably one of the most beautiful villages on the CdA."
