L'Escurial - Menu

an excellent view. Perfect place to relax and have food. We stopped by for lunch, enjoyed the view, food and drinks. Service and food was excellent.

The service is very accommodating and tries to satisfy all needs presented. A pleasant meal in an attractive setting that contributed to a fine evening.

Being placed right in the centre of castres with parking just next to the restaurant it is easy and convenient. Always a friendly and happy staff to welcome you . Food is great quality and value .

the restaurant has some good French cuisine if you like it. do try desserts and it also serves nice wine. I requested them to ask the chef to make some dish of chicken and it was made (out of menu). I liked it!

The restaurant is attractive and there is a nice atmosphere. However the menu is over ambitious - attempting a sophistication that it struggles to achieve - and the wine list falls short of the food menu's aspirations.

we end up at the Escurial as we wanted to eat something on Monday evening and all the other places were close.the setting is a pleasant old monastery well decorated, and where the staff was polite and inviting;The menu card looks promising, however the quality disappointing; it looks like the starters are done by a different cook; they were good, specially what they call "bruschetta" done with fresh ingredients and enough for a complete meal!the second, however did not really meet expectation; the quality was average and the "old school" presentation did not really fit the dish.my medium entrecote came "cold" even if the plate was warm, and the "riz de veau" was not a good choice for the 23...

We visited this restaurant on a warm summer evening. A reservation had been made by our B&B. The first impression was not very positive. There was no one to receive us and then the waiter disappeared for about ten minutes for a phone call. However, after this slow start everything turned out well. The restaurant offers attractive menus for € 23 and € 27, which proved to be excellent value. Were recommended this place as our hotel had no restaurant. Style is medieval-industrial. The aperitif flute of champagne was Nicholas Feuillatte so they scored points from the off. We opted for the menu at 27€ which began with a roast scallop and fennel crème which was a new twist, unexpected and delicious. The main was lamb shank with roast vegetables, sauté potatoes and Gaelic mash. This presented extremely well, the lamb falling off the bone, almost a confit. Wonderful. We were recommended by one of the bars in Castres where we were having a drink, as most places in Castres are closed on a Monday. The guy who told us about it said it was Michelin starred, so we thought we would try it. The food was ok but expensive. We went for the 36€ menu as it came with an amuse Bouche. This was two langoustines with a piece of dried tomato and a couple of pieces of orange. It was nice but where was the fancy cooking? Our entree was foie groix.
