Antonio is the perfect host, making everyone feel welcome, I am transported to Italy every time I visit. Delicious coffee, authentic recipes, amazing sauces and personally selected products based on ancient Italian traditions, this is a treasure of a find, and highly recommended. Thank you, Antonio!"

"I had high hopes as I am a pizza lover, how wrong could I have been. Greeted by a rude member of staff, so not the best start. The cafe was busy, very busy, the tables are very crammed in together and so much so the back of my chair was being hit by every person and memeber of staff walking past....... While trying to order the member of staff seemed more concerned in talking to people walking through the door and other members of staff, a bit annoyed, we still ordered had we had high hopes of some of the best pizza in Devon..... How wrong we were. My pizza was how to put it..... pretty awful, I've had better supermarket own microwave pizza's...... the toppings didn't reach the edge which was VERY dry so that was left. I paid and left, why I paid I have no idea. Rude staff and below par pizza, just don't bother, you will be better off going to Pizza Hut."

"Been in this week with a friend as we had already planned to. Upon learning that their head chef/km was no longer there I was rather dubious and I have every right to be. Staff as usual rude. The girls need to learn to cover up a little more and spend less time flirting with the kitchen and discussing latest events they want to book etc, the plates were dirty and cutlery wasn’t great- which never happened before and needed to be more attentive to the customers. The food wasn’t done to coolant spec, the rice was over cooked along with the chicken and was extremely unpleasant. Such a shame he has left because he really made the business and the food, I know he had been working there through some serious health issues and for that time the food never faulted. Let’s hope your able to bring back some of the decent chefs again."

"My husband and I have never been here before, even though we live locally, but I can assure you it'll be a new regular favourite. The food was stunning, the service was exceptional and the small details made all the difference. We booked online last minute for our anniversary, we made a note of this on booking and when we arrived our table was decorated with balloons and we were offered complimentary desserts. Unfortunately we did decline as we were so full and the food so delicious we didn't want to ruin the flavour but the thought and touch was so lovely we will be sure to keep coming back. Thank you to everyone that made us feel some welcome. We look forward to seeing you again soon and showing you off to our nearest and dearest. We have nothing but positives to take away from our experience at The Barn Owl"

"A group of four of us had a very good meal here this evening (Friday on a bank holiday weekend . Food was excellent and, although very busy, we didn't have to wait too long for service or for our meals to arrive. The rump steak was excellent and came with a decent sized bowl of chips which made it very good value for money. Much better than those places that serve about half a dozen chips with a steak!! Great vegetables with all meals and the fish was also very good. Although local, we haven't visited for a year or three but the food is so much better now and good value despite rising prices. Staff were excellent and very friendly and the bar (although tiny, like the gents in the main building was easy enough to get served at. My only small gripe is that the bar doesn't serve ale (proper beer just lager and hoppy IPA. Even the odd bottle of Newcastle Brown in the fridge would improve the visit for us ale drinkers (although I admit most trendy pubs seem only seem to serve lager and the more happy versions of IPA now so it's probably my age. I would definitely come back for the food but will probably stick to one of the other local pubs for the beer."
