"After reading the reviews online my partner decided to bring me here to celebrate my new job. First impressions were bad, it’s extremely deceptive compared to how it’s pictured on the website, it’s very dark and gloomy, there was no obvious sign outside, especially as we came in the dark so we drove past it twice. The sign outside could do with some light decor. Prior to coming to Mango Room my partner called to book the table and informed them of my new job celebration and had asked the waitress if she could make the table look somewhat fancy/different to the other tables as a surprise for me in which she agreed to doing. When we arrived he asked her where the table was and she said “pick whatever table you want” meaning she completely disregarded his request. After receiving the menu that was broken and looked extremely cheap and flimsy for the prices they charge, I also realised the food was very overpriced. I asked the waitress for the set menu and she said that only gets provided for groups of people over 10. It didn’t state that on the website and can be misconstrued as false advertisement. I can not believe for one small portioned size jerk chicken it cost £13 alone you then have to pay extra for a side which is around 3.50 4.00. When reluctantly ordering the food which was Jerk chicken rice peas, we also requested coleslaw and dumplings, the waitress replied “we don’t do coleslaw or dumplings here, the owner doesn’t like it” ... it’s not about what the owner doesn’t like it’s about your food audience. How can you run a Caribbean restaurant without coleslaw or dumplings? It’s key in West Indian food. I found that to be very obscured. The waitress then said “it’s fine dining, we don’t do that here”... I did not know consuming dumplings and coleslaw meant it was not fine dining. Whilst waiting for my food, I asked for some water the waitress brought out a jug of water which seemed to have a booger stain on the side, very very off putting. When the food eventually came out in which waiting time wasn’t long because the restaurant wasn’t busy, the plates were extremely hot, it seemed as though the chef just reheated/microwaved the rice and peas causing the dish within itself to be piping hot to the point where I couldn’t even hold it and had to messily dish out the rice myself with the small spoon provided. The rice and peas were extremely overcooked and stodgy, there was hardly any gravy with the jerk chicken. The jerk chicken was undercooked and did not fall of the bone with basic sweet pepper slice and red onions for decoration. The plantain was extremely undercooked, very burnt on the outside and tasted wet, clumpy and soggy on the inside I’ve never tasted plantain so renk. The waitress did give us complimentary tulip glasses of champagne, which was nice. My partner did say that he enjoyed his curry goat which was very tender, he had that with plain rice. Overall I feel this restaurant is extremely overrated, extortionate and wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. The only pros were the company I had and leaving. I would’ve much preferred going turtle bay, the atmosphere and decor is so much better and you get your monies worth. Turtle Bay is extremely commercial so this is a huge compliment to them as I’m not too fond of them either."

A caribbean restaurant that does some authentic dishes like ackee and codfish presented in a modern way. Also does cocktails, especially ones involving rum, coconut, lime and mango.

After a theatre show our friends suggested this restaurant. My husband and I were impressed with the service which was on point The quality of the food was wonderful and we would highly recommend. It was so good we could not eat it all and ended up leaving with doggy bags.

The resturant is actually called Roger's kitchen and the first thing you experience is the amazing decor of the place. The food was authentic with a fine dining twist. The reggae music playing in the background sets the scene for a great night. The curry goat and ribs are the star attraction on the menu. The ackee and saltfish is flavourful. The thing what makes this place difference from others is Roger himself, who took time out to talk to us about his He used to cook at the mango rooms so that is the assocation with the now closed down resturant.

This afternoon at here with my nice, they offer excellent service. You actually have to reserve a table but the staff was so nice they put up an extra table. The food, drinks, music and the staff reminds me about the homely feeling of the Caribbean. The head chef, original from Jamaica, came along the table. Compliments for this wonderful concept. We had fruit punch, a Caribbean champagne and a Long Island ice tea Caribbean version. Further on we shared two mains with sides: seafood combo, goat curry stew, fried plantains, peas and rice, steamed vegetables and fried cassava. Will definitely come back here on another London trip.

I went here for my birthday with 4 of my friends and I can assure you that none of us will be returning. The food took forever to come out. When it did come out, all of our food came at different times and half of the orders were incorrect. The waiter was adamant that he got it right but eventually went back to the kitchen and brought out the correct dishes. The food was posh Caribbean food and was rather expensive for what it was. The food wasn't even seasoned properly (the jerk chicken was fine but not spicy or anything) and then there was also a limited number of sides to choose from. We definitely regretted coming here rather than going to Ma Petite.

Excellent food here. If I say this up front, I know that I won’t forget to say it! Ask any ethnic foodie, and they will tell you that when they go out to eat food from their own ethnic heritage, the key thing they ask is whether the food they eat is better than they cook at home, whether it is tastier than Mum’s Sunday best, whether they can get the full restaurant experience. Roger’s kitchen ticks all of the boxes. Throughout the menu, there are modern twists and manifestations of traditional West Indian favourites. This should keep Caribbean heritage people happy! But the menu is targeted at food lovers from every ethnic group. Indeed, the seafood soup itself would have graced ‘The Ivy’. T...

We last visited Mango Rooms over 15+ years ago and I remember leaving slightly disappointed with our meal. On our return visit for my husbands birthday (30th Aug), we were very impressed with the standard of food. First impressions, the atmosphere was a little lacking at the front half of the restaurant as the tables are very spread out, but towards the back, was so much better...more atmosphere. The paintings on the wall bring a colourful and 'good feel ' vibe to the room. Music was spot on. To start, we had Scallops and Tempura of Sea Bass and Snapper...so much taste and seasoning. It just finished way to quickly. Mains, were Pork Loin and Chicken Breast in Curry and Coconut sauce...each b...
