I live in the village so good to have another choice of eatery. I enjoyed Origins when it was a tapas bar and was concerned when I noticed it was closing but was relieved when it reappeared again. "The food and service is 5*, couldn’t fault it. Please do go and enjoy the food and service. Just wear many layers. I will certainly be back when the weather warms up. I wish I could give it a 5, but each time I’ve been here it is cold. Sitting on the upper level where the door is opened often by staff to go outside to get stock doesn’t help. The open fire is nice but doesn’t heat the upper level. It seems as though there just isn’t enough heating. I dress appropriately for being cold but your hands are very cold. A couple were in their coats eating their meal when we arrived. So it’s not just me or just on the day I was there."

"What a lovely pub to stop off at after a long walk in the local area, really fresh beer from what tasted like clean lively pipes! The Wine choice is carefully selected also! the landlady and manager make you feel so welcome, kind enough to provide me with some lovely olives to accompany a juicy red wine! I was in heaven to say the least, next to a roaring fire what more can you want after a long dog walk that finishes just next to the pub! I cannot wait to go back! a truly delightful pub! "We arrived early, but eventually received our meals over an hour after our booking time. Most of the menu was off; it had been a busy week, apparently so there was no fish and chips, no pie, no mac 'n 'cheese, among others. The wait staff said she 'd have a look to see what WAS available . Ales largely not in stock and the one we had Tribute was truly horrible, vinegary and tart. The children 's starters arrived, then their mains: meanwhile not a sign of the adult meals. The wait staff said (twice) I TOLD you the children 's would come out first! . We were not impressed. The manager gave the children a free dessert, which was nice for them... in fact they did rather well out of the whole debacle. As we 've noticed on previous occasions, the 'service charge ' is on the bill with no means to deduct it and this time, without a doubt, the entire experience was awful. We 'll find somewhere else to spend £100+ on Sunday lunch. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4"

"Went to our first 'Curry Club ' at the Gate. The food was exceptional, and portions were very generous. There was live entertainment between mains and dessert, which was fantastic. The belly dancer was so talented and engaging with the audience, and those brave enough to join her were welcomed. It was a really fun night, and I would definitely be coming back.
