"Au Charbon is family managed restaurant, set in a pleasant and quiet part of Lausanne, easily reached on the bus, if like me, you are touring. The restaurant is ‘cosy’ and the owners have maximised the number of seats available, which sounds like me...spinning a cramped venue but it actually works out okay. We had sufficient room to relax and eat without imposing on our neighbouring tables, so the efficient spacing added to the atmosphere and the wine waiter added character. The restaurant has a traditional pizzeria menu with no surprises with the choice of pizza, steaks etc. All our choices were well presented, cooked exactly to request and delicious. Portion sizes were just right too On the down side, the table service was very slow, it took around an hour for the first course and one dish was wrong when it eventually arrived but we put that down to being busy. The lady serving was also a bit too presumptuous that the change from the bill would be her tip and she didn’t return the change, eventually coming back to confirm if this was so. In summary, I enjoyed my meal and time at Au Charbon, they seem to have earned their reputation from being consistent in serving nicely presented dishes that are cooked well. The higher end options are a bit on the pricey side if you are on holiday, especially when considering this is a pizzeria (a steak costing CHF). However most restaurants of this type in Lausanne are similarly priced and it is what it is."

"Dieses Restaurant ist in meiner Nachbarschaft und liegt an einer belebten Straße, ich nehme an, kann wirklich viele Kunden einladen. Es wird auch von asiatischen Leuten betrieben also wirklich kein Platz für einen Fehler. Ich habe mein Essen mitnehmen das Interieur war nicht einladend, aber ich würde es wirklich dort essen, trotz der Tatsache, dass das Hotel einfach war es kann einfach sein wie es ist aber das Essen war nicht essbar. Ich bestellte knuspriges Hühnchen, das es tut mir leid, nicht frisch. Sogar meine Kinder hatten das Gefühl, dass etwas nicht stimmte. Süßes und saures Hühnchen war auch nicht besser, das Fleisch wurde wahrscheinlich vor langer Zeit zubereitet. Vegetarische Frühlingsrollen durchschnittlich aber insgesamt bin ich sehr enttäuscht. Ich hätte nichts dagegen, mehr zu bezahlen (wir zahlten ca. CHF 60 für 3), wenn die Qualität gut und das Essen frisch war. Ich werde nicht mehr dorthin gehen, zu riskant."

"You've gotta love the Lavaux for its views on the lake and mountains. Funnily, there aren't that many restaurants where you get to enjoy both the view and the food. Terra Rossa is such a place, nested in the tennis club and surrounded by pines...and bushes. The food is Mediterranean with a bias towards the Italian cuisine. We had a parmigiana with a salad, and a pizza. The execution was perfect. We also had the wine of the month which was better than what is usually served as such. The evening was made even more enjoyable by the staff who was very friendly, attentive to your needs and quick. The restaurant would've therefore deserved a 5* rating if it wasn't for the interior design, which is a bit simple and cold (then again, we're in a tennis club), and not of utmost cleanliness several seats were covered in scraps of food that must have been wiped down from the table, and there's no good excuse for that."
