"Firstly, I would not go to this place if you are looking for good service. I have never seen such miserable expressions on the waiters faces. The food was adequate but the nans were probably the worse we have ever had. Sticking raw garlic into holes does not make it a garlic nan! Sticking raw chillies into a chilli nan does not make it a chilli nan. The main Bangladeshi meals were alright but it was afterwards when we realised they were not right. The lamb was really though and definitely not good quality. This place is small and feels quite cramped as are the toilets! I can never understand why some restaurants turn their hand dryers off at the mains, especially dealing with food. I gave it two stars as the rice tasted nice. Would we return, no way!"

Very good service with friendly, knowledgeable serving staff. Very good food and at a good price. Went with a group of six and everyone was delighted with the place. Visualizza piatti

Purbani is a tasty Indian restaurant at the south end of Wanstead High Street in London. It looks a bit shabby from the outside but puts on some surprisingly good food. Purbani has been in existence since 1983 and there is a distinct 80s feel...

This place we thought we would give a try being a small restaurant, how wrong was our decision. This is the worst place I have eaten as Indian. The food what can I say I’d rather go to the cheap chicken and chip shops and probably had value for money.

Although I have only dined in at Purbani once, we regularly order food for home delivery, and they have been consistently (over the past several years) very good quality and tasty dishes. Have been sampling many things from the extensive menu and have yet to be disappointed. Will be ordering again soon! Visualizza piatti

I’ve been a few times and taken a group of friends, husband and family on various occasions. The food has always been delicious and freshly cooked. The mushroom rice was beautifully spiced and moorish. I also had the Goan Xcuti and although not perfectly authentic was still tasty. Service is very good, warm and attentive and you can take in your own alcohol. Jewel in the crown of Wanstead.

Like smaller off the besten track places generally. Very close to tube, reasonably priced. Cobra lager was 4.75 , most curries under £10, had meat byriani which was tasty but very light on meat content. I had chappati and pappadoms to accompany. Interior is basic, toilets adequate but not to restaurant standard more greasy spoon. I thought service was fine , they are juggling take alway orders that could prove a distraction.

"The decor of the restaurant is really lovely. We were greeted as soon as we arrived. We placed our orders quite briskly. We received complimentary bread and olives, which was a nice touch. Our Bruchetta starter arrived a whole hour after we arrived, which was disappointing and far too long to wait for a cold and easy starter. The menu did not specify that the prawns on one of the bruschettas were raw! The waiter said service was slow because they were busy with Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Clearly not prioritising paying customers, who pay a 12.5% service charge, unlike online customers. Eventually, our main courses arrived. My pasta was only just cooked, so close to being undercooked and hard. They ran out of ricotta and replaced it with the tiniest amount of cheese so I asked for some more. Since ricotta was supposed to be the main ingredient of the dish. The tuna steak was lovely, and the veal could have done with a thinner breadcrumb batter. The sides, chips and zucchini, were £4.50 and very small portions for such a cheap side. So that was slightly disappointing. Overall, the pinot grigio white wine was very drinkable, and they brought tap water when we asked for it. And the whole staff were very polite. It was a shame the service was so slow, and the food could have been better for the price that it was. We also felt it was overpriced for the location it was, zone 2 London and not in the West End."
