Poor food and service. Not returning. Good offer with 25% off still didn’t save the day.

Very pleasant place for a private lunch. Food was excellent, like the service. Especially recommend the Shepherd's Pie.

Lunch menu has changed and was somewhat limited. Strange to have chicken pate already spread on brioche, making it difficult for those who wanted to manage the portion themselves.

Would prefer less salt in vegetable beans with lamb. We were also disappointed not to have the mint sauce would have enjoyed gooseberry crumbs with custard instead of drunk cream/ice cream. Cauliflower cheese and spinach dishes would be nice change for vegetarians!

Great food and good service. We had a special starter for share sardines with lemon and bread crumbs. It was well cooked and really delicious. For the main course we ordered shepherd cake and baked artichokes with beans and peas. They were on site. Finally, dessert menu, we ordered a dark chocolate pot with cherries and cream fraiche. We really love it. It was so delicious. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone and we will visit this place again.

Lunch during the week. Lovely room, lots of privacy in the booths. Friendly staff. The food, however, for the price was pretty average. My companion had a goats cheese tart that wasn't a tart and the base was like shoe leather. This was mentioned to the staff who seemed to be aware but not concerned. My side dish of potatoes tasted like it might just have seen the microwave to melt the cheese. The puddings were excellent. I couldn't recommend it because at the price you don't have to go far to get better.

We popped in for a pre-theatre meal, anticipating a quiet spot based on published reviews. One of the owners was entertaining a large table of men who had clearly been drinking for much of the afternoon, with noise levels to match. A happy hour at the incongruous hotel like bar at the entrance was also well patronised. Noise levels were high. Food, we had a Chateaubriand which was swimming in garlic sauce AKA butter. Staff were helpful and attentive, but seemed depressed. Prices were high, and did not feel like value for money. We won 't be going back.

I booked a meal at Shepherds Restaurant because it was convenient for an event we attended before having lunch because we were attracted by the offer of 25% discount on the whole bill. On balance the food was expensive for what it was. Shepherds pie for instance was priced at £19 or £19.50 came literally as just a small bowl of shepherds pie with no other accompaniment other than a small bottle of Worcester sauce. I found that bemusing because the shepherds pie should surely be tasty moist enough to not require additional Worcester sauce. The shepherds pie did not look very moist a small jug of gravy would have made a good accompaniment the dish. We all had potted shrimps to start but these...
